  • TECH 21 Bass Fly Rig v2 unboxing and demo | RATTLECAN GUITAR RESTORATIONS by James O’Rear
After many years of dedicated service my Korg AX3000B signal processor has finally released the magic smoke. Replacing it will be the new Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig v2. Comprised of a 2-channel Sans Amp, chorus, tuner, octafilter (octave divider and fuzz), as well as a compressor the unit is small and easily carried in a gig bag. Also included is a multi-voltage power supply that will 120-240 volts, 50 or 6o hZ and comes with multiple adaptors.
Multiple tone combinations can be achieved with relatively small adjustments of the tone controls (high, mid, and low) as well as employing the BITE or CHAR switches. There is a -20dB pad, a ground loop switch, and a speaker cabinet simulator. Signal outputs include the new effects loop feature as well as a 1/4" high-Z output and XLR low-Z commonly used for DI purposes (both can be used simultaneously).
Controls are easy to adjust ans well lit on a dark stage. Tuner is easy to read. I'm a happy old man... two thumbs-up!

I caught the bass line for “The Chain” in there. Despite the “technical” stuff people are complaining about, it’s a good review. The sound quality you got is far better than the other demos I’ve seen. The others sound anemic

Did you name your cat after the green godzilla character off of Rugrats?

Just some food for thought. If you're running from a mixer into your interface you might not want the interface accepting instrument level. The outs of the mixer should be producing line level. You may be having the internal gain of the Scarlett to high in the insturment setting. Great review!

if you've not figured it out yet, you can run in the octofilter section without the fuz or octive. in my mind by the way, it makes sence that channel right after the compresser is channel 1, I don't think its labeled anywhere that I know of. good video and nice pedal.

got the manual up here, that second switch is just labeled channel, so I think of it as the sansamp with the eq as channel 2 the other as channel 1, but this makes sence now that I know its toggling between the two channels, that second switch is, see heres the manual, "DRIVE 1 and DRIVE 2: When the SansAmp section is engaged, adjusts the overall amount of gain and overdrive, similar to when the output section of a tube amp is being pushed. Activated by the Chan- nel footswitch, you can set one clean and one dirty, or one dirty and one dirtier. The first half of the rotation will increase the volume as well as the overdrive."

Wish it had both low-mid and high-mid EQ knobs. But the character switch is cool!

I imagine it is quite the give-and-take when trying to figure out what to fit inside the box.

13:20 Why did you choose to go through the mixer instead of connecting the flyrig straight into the Focusrite interface?

I've gone back to school and learning welding. Fun stuff. Sorry about the guitar.

Man, what a piece of gear, and what a pity that they completely borked its visual design. If I bought this thing, I would be disappointed every time I looked at it, no matter how awesome it sounds.

If I had a dime for every piece of "ugly" equipment I played on...I'd have a lot of dimes. Thanks for stopping by.
