Beautiful Lindsay, well worth sharing this with a friend in Tasmania (Australia), she has a large magnolia growing in her front garden...thank you🙏..now on to the fuchsia!!!! Greetings from Western Australia 🥰🎨🦘🦘🦘🦘
Lindsay, as usual you have blown my mind. You are so talented. What a beautiful painting. i so want to be you. I just discovered you in the last year and have yet to try one of you beginner paintings. I’m a 76 year old granny and hope it’s not to late to learn. Your tutorials give me such great joy.
I keep coming back to this one. I've done it about 5 or 6 times. Some have ended up in the trash. But most just show evolution and trial and error. It's a great tutorial.
Very creative painting! Loved that you didn't sketch first and just dug in. This is one I will try and paint along with you. Usually I watch your tutorial first then paint along with you on the 2nd run. So much fun and you give us a lot of information which I love! Thank you.
I absolutely love to watch you paint & all the other watercolor painters. I learn so much from watching a variety of artists. It’s surprising how many techniques there are. Watercolor is my most favorite kind of artwork. I’m learning but it’s going slow. Wish l could take lessons from you.🖌🖌🌸🌺🌼🖌🥰👩🏻🎨👰🏼🥾
My wish is to get good enough to actually frame & hang my work. About crazy weather--we have snow predicted late next week ( April 10 th for several days) here on Colorado. It’s not too unusual for us to get snow in May. I love the snow but grow tired of it by March.❄️❄️❄️
Lindsay, this is absolutely gorgeous! I had a long hard winter too and I'm heading into surgery tomorrow so I was looking for something soothing to watch tonight. And there you were- painting a beautiful magnolia! I'm going to hold this painting in my mind's eye tomorrow to stay calm and then try painting it as soon as I'm well enough. You are always a joy to watch. Thanks for sharing your talent with me.
Dear Brenda, I am so sorry to hear you have surgery tomorrow. Hospitals and doctors make me so anxious. I hope you get a good night's sleep and I will be sending you good vibes tomorrow. Be well! Hugs:)
I would love to do something like this! I was intrigued by the "no drawing required" because I struggle with using strict line work (I approach things like a coloring book) and never being free and loose with my watercolor painting. It's hard for me to pull it off as beautifully as you have done here, but I feel like this style of painting is where watercolor as a medium really shines. I love all the texture and colors mingling wet-in-wet on the leaves. Thank you for the inspiration :)
Thanks Lindsay! I love your floral tutorials and the way your explain so clearly the consistency of the paint as well as how to wield the brushes. ❤️❤️
Lovely painting....great teacher! I especially appreciated being able to see you dipping the brush into the water as most tutorials leave the water outside the frame. Thx!
I was so happy to see your tutorial when I went to RUclips tonight! The painting is absolutely beautiful! You sure are good with your brush work! Thanks so much for sharing and explaining everything so well. Hopefully it won’t snow much longer!
Lindsay, I am watching this 25 days later and as I drove home today from nearly 2hours south of my home in central Vermont, I noticed the weeping willows are really starting to green up. I would love to paint one, and I wonder if you would do a watercolor tutorial on weeping willows, please.
Wow! You’re so talented, Lindsay! This painting is GORGEOUS! Thanks for all of the tips on brush types and how to use them! I also appreciate hearing about paper and paint differences! Thanks too, for mentioning your art classes! I’m currently taking one and I’m learning quite a lot! I watch many artists on RUclips, and you’re my favorite! 😀❤️
Thanks for another great tutorial. I have learned a lot from your technique and use of colors here, and look forward to painting these flowers! Hot press watercolor paper is my favorite too. Arches is so expensive, so it is good to hear about more reasonably priced, good quality alternatives. I also appreciate hearing about your brushes!
Speaking of weather..just outside Houston, the weather can’t make up her mind..pollen is so bad and it is warm and dry and then today rainy and cool...yikes...great time for a lovely magnolia painting
Loved painting along with you on this project! I am working on my pigment/water ratios as I tend to be too heavy on the pigment resulting in an overworked look. This was a perfect exercise in restraint - exactly what I needed! Also love the subject matter and color palette you used. Do you have any more videos on water/pigment ratio exercises? Thanks Lindsay!
Beautiful magnolias, Lindsey! Thank you for the brush suggestions, too. Have you tried and what do you think of the Silver Brush Black Velvet Watercolor brushes? Thank you for the great video! I hope warm weather comes to us both very soon. ☀️🦋
Yay! Love beginner tutorials ! I just got a Paul Reuben mop delivered today and am excited to try this. I'll use the pretty excellent paints by them. Woohoo. Thanks Lindsay, 😁💙
@@thefrugalcrafter okay dokey, I'll let you know. It is a size 6 but looks like other brands size 4 to begin with. It is squirrel. I try not to think about that. Nice point. I'll use it tomorrow. 😁💙
@@thefrugalcrafter I would try it now but I'm cutting into the peanut butter cheesecake brownies I made this afternoon and plan on being in a " brownie coma" very shortly. Lol. We had our last snow on Monday. Boo, hiss.😁
I find your tutorials easy to follow and pleasure to view! I haven’t drawer or painted after the loss of my husband 9 years ago, but I am motivated now. You have been an inspiration. I also live in Maine and would love to attend a class by you, where can I get info on classes?
Very pretty Lindsay. And while you were using the liner brush, doing thick-thin-thick strokes, I thought to myself that is the technique for modern calligraphy/copperplate/brush-lettering. All the rage, at the moment! The liner brush is - or was - called a lettering brush. Those beautiful flowing flourishes !
Lots of fun with this one, I have to fight over-working it and my impatience to wait until the painting is dry. I have a Princeton Neptune #10 Round...but mine has virtually no point! Super frustrating. So i bought a Escoda Versatil #10 rigger which I like; still getting the hang of that brush.
I am loving these tutorials for beginners! I'm not able to cough up enough for your teachable classes yet, but now that I have the tools (the brush kit you recommend plus la petite aquarelle by senellier, it's beautiful paint! and the various odds and ends) I'm watching RUclips and saving up for your class!
Thank you so much for your informative videos. I’ve been wanting to dip into the world of watercolor, and have been binge watching all you have on the subject. Now I just need to take the plunge, so to speak. Oh, and, we have the same saying here in the Seattle area: I you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes; it’ll change!
You are so right, it's been a long winter. We got that nasty white stuff here in N.B. yesterday too. I loved this relaxing painting, especially the separation of blue and brown in the branches, wonderful! I ordered some aqua bee paper today, I was wondering about it and you spoke highly of it in this video, thanks for that. 💚
Really enjoyed your method of loose painting techniques you demonstrated and yet it turned out very similar to a botanical art painting. I look forward to trying out the techniques at home. As a retired professor of botany I enjoy nature and in particular trying to do some botanical art. The problem I am having is that I am concentrating too much on detail. Need to loosen up a little. Thanks once again.
Question, when I buy watercolors how do I know what the colors are called? You mention cobalt blue, etc., and whenever I purchase a set it never has any color information. Perhaps I missed this in an earlier video somewhere. Hope you can answer this for me... as I dont' know if I am to come back to this video to check for an answer. Thanks, much; beautiful painting as always!
Wonderful! I love all your magnolia paintings! I’ve never tried hot press, I think I need to order some & try it out just for a change. You’re always giving me new ideas to step outside of my box.

I really enjoyed watching you paint those beautiful magnolias. I like your style of painting. Thank you. Helene
It was fun to watch you create this. Very pretty. Of course you make it look so very easy, cant wait to be this good. Practice, practice.

That's awesome!
Oooooo.....another one I hadn’t seen.... saving this for my tomorrow’s “NZ Sunday Funday Watercolour Practice/Adventures with Lindsay” day 😂
Yay!
This is the video that convinced me to finally take one of your classes. Thanks for the discount and the amazing floral painting class!
Thank you:)
Gorgeous, I love this magnolia, here in SC the mostly call it a tulip magnolia but if I’m not mistaken it’s called a southern magnolia as well.

This is a great work. I m a beginner. I dream to paint like this in future.
Wow I’m absolutely head over heels for this one. That purple combination with the earthy green looks awesome! Such a happy painting! 😁👍💜

Such a treat to watch you work! Always teaching, always positive. And you just seem FEARLESS!

Love it! As always you don't disappoint - keep painting for us Lindsay! Thanks!
I love to see how your brush ‘dance’ through the curves and edges confidently! Certainly learned a lot to improve on my strokes ✨

I've never tried them, I do like Princeton Neptune and Creative Mark Mimik (my fave! no quill tho)
Just lovely! I so enjoy your cheerful commentary, as sell.
I love all of your painting. Keep up the great work. Love this.
Great video..I have a Daler Rowney Sword brush..Looks like your Dagger..are they sometimes called Sword..??

Gorgeous design. You make it look so very achievable. Hope to try this soon!
This came out beautiful Lindsay. Thank you for sharing.
Wow, the colors are so pretty! Good practice tutorial. J
Your flowers are so beautiful! Harder for me than it looks. Could you do a lesson on just making flower petals or just leaves? Thanks.
I have an indepth class on that. It's linked in the video description. It give you all the tools you need to paint almost any flower you can imagine.
