I’m 38 and can’t wait to try it too. You are still young doesn’t matter what art school said, that’s the beauty of art it is as unique as the person creating it. Who is anyone to define art. Have fun and congrats for not giving up !
YOU CAN DO IT!! It's never too late to try again :) don't be discouraged if it doesnt come out exactly like in the video, keep going and you will see results soon! Hope you have fun and remember what Bob Ross said: As long as you are learning, you're not failing :)

I’m 12 and I believe No matter how old are you it’s never late for anything! You can do it and I believe in you! In art there are no mistakes there are only beautiful accidents 💜 art is a way to express your inner emotions and imaginations and I think you can never fail in art. Because it varies in every individual 💜💕 best of luck sir/ma’am!
This seems like such a simple thing, but I always tend to overwork everything to the point it's a uni-color blob. I need to learn to relax and have some patience, stop adding more color while it's wet, stop over working and adding too many colors for shadows while it's wet, and allowing it to dry before I add small details. Graphite is my original medium, then I started dabbling in acrylics, and since those paints are much more stiff, they're easily workable when wet. Watercolors are a whole new ballgame, but so pretty and luminescent that I'm dying to learn control (and to lose control with) them better. Thank you for this!
Why not try oil paints as well, (since most of us have a lot of time on hand at the moment, if you don't then sorry, keep up the good work.) they're a dream to blend with and you can really get into the details, quite like graphite works. If you don't want to, it's ok. Just wanted to share. Stay safe!
Just wanted to thank you so much for teaching me how to paint watercolor flowers in a less “realistic” way but still a very nice stylized way that still captures the beauty of the flowers. I especially love your roses. I used the techniques I learned in this video and your other video how to paint loose watercolor flowers, and I was able to make some art for both of my friends and they loved it! I just made one for my friend for one of her wedding gifts and she said she wanted to cry! It had words from her moms favorite hymn which she also likes as well. Thanks again for sharing how to paint easy and beautiful flowers and helping lift me out of my depression! A part of me died when I couldn’t practice my craft due to moving and remodeling
I’ve always had a creative streak but over the years of going through hard times I’ve just let that and myself wither away doing nothing more than watching pointless videos on my phone. Watching this made me happy in a way I can’t explain.. I think it’s the excitement of finally getting out of this deep rut and rediscovering myself and the real life hobbies that I used to have. Thank you for this 💕
Omg! I love love love this! Can you do more like this? Maybe a series on leaves? Shrubs? Trees? Cut flowers? Wildflowers? I’d love to create a handy reference tool. 🥰🥰🥰
i don't know if this is a common thing but every time i begin painting, i get horrified at the possibility of making a total mess and just...freeze up. that's a thing i need to get over i guess 😔 a beautiful video nonetheless!
I used to have this issue, you should buy a small sketch book especially for training on individual things like the flowers in the video and similar stuff, also to try techniques on it, this way you will not be afraid to ruin anything 'cause it's training sketch book and it's ok for it to contain failures attempts. P.S: don't buy expensive or fancy or cute one so you don't feel like it's wast to use it for training and go back to the circle again.
You are totally normal! I have struggled with this as well. I realize it's part of my perfectionistic tendencies. I decided to view everything I paint as practice only. I think we think it's supposed to be a finished work of art. They say that writers have to write at least a million words before they "find their voice". So, I view everything I paint as practice to finding my painting voice. Also, for me, painting is a way I relax. I ask myself, am I enjoying the process? If I'm not I get up and walk away. I even have a little sign on my desk that says "Enjoy the Process!". Hope this helps!
Thank you Shayda for your easy tutorial. I am a beginner and some times I become overwhelmed and I over work my flowers until they are a muddled mess. Watching this gives me confidence in forging ahead to become better in my watercoloring.
I wasted my whole quarantine sulking, procrastinating and mindless social media scrolling. It’s 2 weeks until the day I officially begin going to university so I’m making the most of it. I want to at least post one art piece before classes begin. I will try my best to draw this and update the way it turned out. This video is really well made it looks like. Liked and subscribed.
Wow okay, so I drew 3 flowers or plants so far. I like the way the first one came out. It was very simple to draw, I even freestyled the branches and it came out great. The next thing I drew was the flower 🌺. That one didn’t turn out as great probably because of the color and complexity. She even mentioned that she’s using a light pink color but I mistakenly used a very dark pink pencil and the flower is huge because I didn’t like the shape of the petals and I kept expanding and adjusting the edges so it doesn’t look so ugly. After I added the green leaves though, it looked a little better. It’s not so bad overall. I drew two other flowers that split from the same branch and that one is the second best drawing on the canvas so far. I’m looking to make 4-5 more and I will stick to the more simpler designs so I don’t make the same mistake of ugly looking colors and flowers. I can’t wait to see the end product.
I will always adore your work. I feel like many things are “beginner-friendly” without looking like amateur work. It’s always exactly what I’m looking to learn and so easily comprehensible ❤️❤️

Im an absolute beginner, well besides 2 art courses i took in high school...which sadly i find quite useless and i kind of regret it due to it being a dark time mentally in my life and having a horrible art teacher who constantly put me and my work down and made me feel like i was totally worthless and untalented and compared me to other students (there was one project that she drew on top of to show me how to do things "right" there is no such thing as doing art "right" everyones art is different and unique! that was probably the worst moment and i still remember the feeling of worthlessness she made me feel in that moment) which really sucks because since then, i havent really done much art or had much interest, but a few years have now gone by im doing much better mentally and just recently i had a sudden spark of inspiration and been wanting to try doing some art again since i do find art to be very calming and relaxing it helps my anxiety! Watercolour looks so beautiful and free, i really want to try it sometime, and when i get the chance i think i will come back to this video and try out these flowers! Thank you for the detailed tutorial. I have started using watercolor few months back and I am looking for these kind of tips which I can understand better how to control the blending of the color using water and how to control the brush strokes. I love how you add in the dark shades at the end to bring the liveliness to all the flowers.

Great tutorials! So very helpful for me, being a beginner. Thanks! Also, funny little side note, but you and I both hold our brush or pen the same way.
Made the whole thing along with you, wasn't as perfect as yours and I was also using a watercolor pen so some difficulty in controlling the colours. But overall a great afternoon spent doing this piece. Thanks a lot for this great tutorial!

Hi Shayda, loving these tutorials! Can you recommend an inexpensive brush set for beginners? Don’t want to spend too much in case this hobby doesn’t pan out but the brushes I currently have aren’t cutting it.
Mine were really sloppy and I had to pause the video to keep up with my learning curve. I do love the line work to exhibit highlight of the petals which I want to practice more and incorporate more. Love this though - very simple and easy to follow. Thank you!

Taking your time is a great tip 🙌🏻

I would like to see how you work a sunflower. Tanks for all the tips
Coming later this month! ❤️
Thank you for the detailed tutorial. I have started using watercolor few months back and I am looking for these kind of tips which I can understand better how to control the blending of the color using water and how to control the brush strokes. I love how you add in the dark shades at the end to bring the liveliness to all the flowers.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow this tutorial was amazing!!

Flowers are so easy and relaxing to paint
Amazeballs!
Hi Shayda, loving these tutorials! Can you recommend an inexpensive brush set for beginners? Don’t want to spend too much in case this hobby doesn’t pan out but the brushes I currently have aren’t cutting it.
Pretty
My heart will be happy
I saw it well.
감사합니다.
This is so amazing and easy to follow, thank you! Also the flowers are so cute and beginner friendly
These flowers are so aesthetic yet so easy to make. Love this tutorial
Mine were really sloppy and I had to pause the video to keep up with my learning curve. I do love the line work to exhibit highlight of the petals which I want to practice more and incorporate more. Love this though - very simple and easy to follow. Thank you!
