$300 Amazon Supercharger Hits The Dyno (Shocking Results)

- We finish mounting the $300 Amazon supercharger into my $300 Miata drift car. First we upgrade the fuel injectors and get the car running on the Speedy efi standalone ecu, then we add an intercooler and piping. After fixing a few small issues we fire up the car, take it for a test drive then hit the dyno to finally find out how much horsepower the Chinese supercharger makes.

That's actually how MCM got started, but look at them now. I mean, they still do some dumb stuff every once in a while but they're not as relatable as they were when they started.
@@Carl_Jr MCM started trying to focus on getting worldwide views and adapted to what they thought would work and I guess it has but us originals miss the old style builds and hopefully they go back to their roots more often. I also agree with the comment above that this stands out cause it's just 2 mates fucking around and it's genuinely entertaining I also can't wait to see the turbo strapped on.

@stevenbroski5235 it depends, the amr500 is a good enough supercharger, but that is if you get a genuine one, the catch being there are no new genuine ones 😂, edit, I thought this was an amr, better off getting an old eaton
I was thinking the same thing but I doubt the cheap super charger can take the rpm’s.

@@The.Rad.Factoryyou guys are like boosted boiz but in mid life crisis🤣 hey if those supercharger hold up you could make fairly cheap ebay supercharger kits for different cars I would like to see what this would do on some Hondas like the d16. But a decent priced kit to boost both engines Mazda and honda by about 40 ish HP would be great if it cost 600ish. If you could make 160 on a d16 and miata I could easily see it going for 700. Ive seen cheap ebay turbo kits but no cheap supercharger kits. I would love to see a cheap centrifugal supercharger one day. Take gear drive off this charger and hook it to a turbo🤣

Those superchargers work and they actually make a bigger one that is designed for a 2.8L-3.5L engine but they are harder to find. There is a dude who comes to the local car meets with a mid 90s ford escort that has one of the bigger ones on it and he is pushing 7psi with that thing. Think he said he has like 220 HP and 240 TQ. That little supercharger would be insane on a rear engine drift cart.

I might be wrong but I believe it’s the same one they have. These were made in this size and a little smaller the sc12. They just need a bigger pulley for it.
@@Soul_Popper Are you sure it bigger pulley for more boost, i always that it was a smaller pulley so it spins the gear faster and gives more boost.

A good all motor setup on one of those is more than enough to put a smile on a man's face. And be a reliable daily if you want.
Damn thing weighs nothing, don't need much power in it... plus, dono about yours, but the brakes in mine, and others I've driven tended to SUCK.
Had one as a kid (73' baby shit yellow) bought it off my old man in 93' he'd done a little work to it - decked head, little carb work and some porting, tuned exhaust. Had to run it on premium or it would ping like a motherfucker.
Complete sleeper. Looking back, wish I'd have hung on to it. Great little truck.

Ok just a little PSA
"Compound boosting" is a turbo that feeds compressed air to a supercharger.
"Twin charging" is two stacked superchargers.
"Twin turbos" two seperate turbos on two seprate manifolds.
"Compound turbo" one turbo housing is mounted to another.

not true at all. compound is usaually a turbo feeding a turbo. Twin charging is a turbo and a supercharger. your "compound turbo" and "comnpound boosting" is the same thing.
it makes no sense to stuff compressed air in a supercharger. Compound charging is normally the other way. So you can run a bigger Turbo and reduce the lag with the supercharger.

No twincharge is supercharger and turbo. And it still is a compound charge. And yes it make sense look at lancia group b rally car I also have similar set up on my cars
Every magazine I ever read in the 90s to early 00s referred to combining supercharging and Turbocharging as “twin charging”.
There’s probably a book somewhere that uses your terms but I’ve legit never heard any of them in 25 years of building cars.

I really enjoy watching some of these low budget car videos. It reminds me of where I started 30 some odd years ago. I became a professional mechanic because I really enjoyed working with my friends on the weekends trying to "improve" our hot rods. Repairing the general publics car are just boring. I would rather be doing stuff like these guys.

If you guys think that sounds crazy; I supercharged a Subaru Impreza back in 2010. Got an m62 with a clutch from a c230. Makes about 10 psi and sounds pretty crazy. Thing still runs to this day as well. There's a short clip of me revving it on my channel.

Next y’all should do cheapest not only turbo, but also parts to install like tubing, injectors, inner cooler
this is the kind of hype we need. My FS-S is dying in boulder and needs the powah too. Please build a nice diffuser for that car to round out that style. Also, you should be able to easily change supercharger pulleys and get like 7psi.
So the only pulley I’ve seen is an 80mm which makes 12psi which is beyond the limit of stock rods 😬😬 but we’ll figure something out!
But yet he wants to twin charge it 😂

I have fond memories of my dads old 3800 buick as a kid, about 18 years ago with a sc14 mad whine but didnt sound like it was gonna explode like all amrs/sc nowdays and the loudest CHUUUUU was definitely quicker then the 304 5l v8 counterpart at the time. Also they sound so much better in an enclosed airbox

Watched through this, and have watched another video before and only now realized you guys only have 9k subs! I really thought with the quality and vibes you bring that your channel would be over a million subs.
Make sure you run a waist gate for the outlet of the turbo/inlet on the supercharger to the outlet side of the supercharger so when the turbo makes more cfm that the supercharger can flow, which it will it will bypass into the inlet of the engine so you actually get the best of both worlds, you reference the waste gate or bypass valve in this case to the turbo so that when it sees more than 3-5psi between the turbo and the supercharger the air flow takes the path of least resistance straight into the manifold, then you have your 3-5 psi from the supercharger right off the line until the turbo is outputting more than the input of the supercharger can flow so with it bypassed you can run as much boost as the turbo will make

I love it! Many builders never take any risks. There's too many unobtainable builds that the average car enthusiast can't afford.
This video is proof of bringing the fun back in the build, by experimentation and creativity on a budget.
Anyone hating this build is gatekeeping the car scene, leaving a bad example for enthusiasts.
Tinkering and cobbling stuff together is fun at first. After a while most get to the point it isn’t worth the time, effort, and cost messing around with junk parts that don’t fit or work right.
For all this you could find a junkyard MP62 that could be serviced. Then you’d have something that could make more power and last longer.

I would go with smaller pulley to get more boost out of it 😂 I'm pretty sure You will be still in supercharger effeciency iland even with 20-25psi so go for it (watch after knock ! It can blow up engine in seconds!) with bigger injectors You can probably do E85 to get most of this build 😂
Hopefully we can find an actual tuning company to help us out. Then we can start going nuts!

Wait, The auto tune from tuner studio got you to 110 stock, then even more with the charger? hands down the star of the show. I mean mad props to the supercharger install, but the ecu running the show has to have a standing ovation for the "throw it together" plan you made..Throw some methanol/ water injection on there and lets go cray cray just to see what happens
