I have seen this scene probably hundreds of times, still cry my eyes off every single time
Same, i've seen this anime years ago already
And you know what? That's ok.
For 5 years, Tomoya avoided thinking of Nagisa, he indulge in anything to keep his mind away from it, whether it be work, alcohol, gambling, and so on. When Tomoya finally started talking about Nagisa, the dam broke, all that bottled emotions came rushing to him and the way Tomoya changed the name calling from “Mommy was” to “Nagisa”, that transition, you can just feel the pain and longing.
After more than 5 years, it still hurts like hell. Especially Ushio: "First thing from daddy" makes me cry every single time.
For me it's more than 10 years and in the last scene and song I can't hold tears falling down... (I mean in last episode last scene and song)

The first time I watched Clannad AS I was spoiled like Carson about Nagisa death and didn't cried, just felt sad. But this episode, not matter how many times I watch it, It always hits me hard and can't hold the tears.

Probably because you know of it and are purposefully trying not to let it overwhelm you which makes it 100 times worse.
When I watched the Show, I kinda saw the death coming, the mysterious illness, the overall sad and somber tone of the Show in general, but man this episode hits like a truck.

The feelings that Tomoya's despair has made him harsh, Ushio who continued to endure loneliness even though he had hardly met in five years, and Tomoya's father's story, all packed together This episode is said to be the best episode in Japan.
Japanese anime fans also say that Cranad is "life" itself. I'm glad that this episode was passed on to them. Remember the sad, the painful, the fun, the touching, and the Cranad and live. Thank you for your wonderful reaction.
Sanae telling ushio not to cry is a household rule. She is pretty strict. Kinda shows her motherly side and adds more character to her.
@@goranstojanov1160 Yeah Sanae also says that to Akio when Ushio went onto live with Tomoya.
She imposed that rule so as to not break down herself. In the next episode, Tomoya overheard Aki telling Sanae about how she held it up together after all these years and saying it's now finally okay to let it all loose.
The great part about this scene is even if it’s spoiled it loses no potency at all

I finished Clannad exactly 10 years ago. It changed my life and took the same amount of time to fully recover from the emotional black hole. After Story is still the best anime I've seen, and episode 18 is still the best anime episode period. For some reason I just decided to come back and torture my heart some more, didn't regret it 🥲👍

The amount of times Carson praised this episode for being so amazing is insane, and I agree with him. Still this episode makes me cry. Okazaki and Ushio reunion is one of the best arcs in this anime.
Ah, the meadow scene. This scene NEVER fails to break me. The music starts and then boom time for tears.

My favorite episode, this is one of those shows that I watched once and decided never to watch again cuz of how it broke me, but I've really enjoyed watching you guys react to this. Been like over a decade since I saw it last time and I still remember all of this vividly. Such a well written story.
I can't begin to imagine what kind of pain Tomoya was going through when he started remembering Nagisa. He was doing so well in telling Ushio all about her, but the moment he realizes that the person he treasures more than anything in the world which, since the start, was a place he's found little purpose in living in, he couldn't hold it in any more. And neither could I.
This scene will never be topped by anything else from any other story for me. After Story is a gift I'll forever hold in the highest of regards.

Lots of anime can make me feel, only a select few can make my shed tears, Clannad ~Afterstory~ had me bawling for hours straight.

21:00 Violet Evergarden episode 10 introduces two characters we know nothing about beforehand, but by the end of it, you're crying buckets thinking about what happens to them. Given that Clannad After Story and Violet Evergarden were both produced by KyoAni, I'd say they've perfected the art of the ugly cry.
This episode is the one that always impacts me the most, in particular that "first thing from daddy" line always gets me in tears.
It's an all around great episode, with Tomoya finally coming to terms with both his childhood, current situation and also finally processing the death of his wife.
My favorite japan animation top 5 is Fate series, attack of titan , fullmetal alchemist, Steins;Gate , Clannad After story......

Naoyuki's story was EXACTELY what Tomoya needed to hear, not to make him feel even more guilty (his father was better than him somehow) but to make him remember he can still do something for her daughter, instead of just drowning in the sense of guilt. It's no time to say "I'm pathetic", "I don't deserve Ushio", "She doesn't need a failure like me"! SHE NEEDS HIM, JUST LIKE HE NEEDS HER!

I watch anime for more than 10 years and Clannad: AS is still in my top 3...I watched it as a child and to this moment when I am adult it's still give me so much emotions that any other anime gave me.

Yup. Clannad is my second best out of key Studios shows and I can finally explain why without spoiling context.
Clannad part 1 is what makes the whole show my number 2 instead of a top 1. It allows you to care about the characters and sets up things for After Story, BUT it takes many detours and it can be painfully slow at progressing, those are the main drag downs for me (and most people). After Story, on the other hand and hugely thanks to the buildup of season 1 is a 10/10 would recommend show.
And with that said, I can't wait to see more of this show and you guys.

I'll say it time and again, that's my top 1 of these shows, although the reasons as to why may be more personal, I can still assure you'll enjoy it nonetheless.

Why do I cry EVERY time I watch this episode? UGH. I don't know what's worse; Ushio crying in Tomoya's arms, or him breaking down on the train when reciting tales of Nagisa to Ushio.
This anime is on par if not worse than Your Lie in April at times. I'd say they're tied overall.

It makes me so sad and happy at the same time, it is too much for my heart. it is definitely the best anime of its kind there is no discussion about it.

To this day, this is the only show that has ever made me cry. This episode specifically. No other show or movie has ever had that impact on me.
There's a movie of clannad too it's not as good but in case you want to see it
this is one of my favorit episode, and the other one is still too come, It make me cry alll the time, I just watch the end part in the feld and the train and I start sobing,... Also Sanae did not win the tittle of best mom of all anime for nothing, she plan everything, and probably have her heart broken puthing the no cry rule for Ushio, knowing that eventualy that will be a key factor to bring them together.... and I do watch the full ahow at less once a years sense I watch it for the first time.... is that good and have a personal meaning for me.

Here we are guys, 3 more episodes until the Endgame starts. But still, this is one episode of anime that totally wrecked and hit me like a truck 12 years ago, and it still does now every single time I watch it. It is like the anime is kicking you down one time after another when you thought it was over. When she said "It was the one you chose and bought for me", I started tearing up. I couldn't stop crying when Ushio said "First thing from Daddy". I cried even harder after when she runs to Tomoya's arms and started crying her heart out. Just when I thought it was all over, his reminiscence of Nagisa made me cry again.

Clannad After Story ... if ever there was a trope like truck-kun isekai'ing you... this show is the combo of truck, bus and train-kun on your heart... every time I hear Nagisa's theme the crust around my heart starts to crumble.😥

I watched this series about 5 years back i think, i go in blind, knew nothing about this, i hook up because of the comedy in the first season, then AS come, reaching to nagisa’s death and this.. i swear im a tough one, i never cry to anything else, but this one, i lose!! I wish i can unwatch this and watch it all over again..
