NOTE (and another reason to choose MyFitnessPal when it comes to Reason #3 at 2:54): Lose It! requires a premium subscription to connect to devices like Fitbit and Garmin.

Just changed to the lose it! App! The MyFitnessPal nonsense of getting rid of the scanner ruined it for me. I love it and they gave me 50% off for the year (only $20!!) so worth!

Nice, Lauren! Enjoy tracking on Lose It!

Thank you for breaking that down so concisely and CLEARLY. Its so hard to decide on things you're unfamiliar with until someone like you does the work and relays the info. So helpful! Thanks!!

Lose it is also cheaper, but I wish that it integrated more exercise plans/routines like you see in MFP

Due to MyFitnessPal removing the barcode scanner I’ve been using LoseIt. I am really enjoying LoseIt. Probably going to upgrade

MFP didn't remove the barcode scanner.

If you change your location on MFP to the United Kingdom you can have the barcode scanner back, for free! Hope this helps.

@@TheRealColonel I believe they made it so that only premium members can use the bar scanner. Colonel.

There’s a few of us that for some reason still have the scanner. I’m here to find an alternative for when it inevitably ends

I agree with you the UI design so much better in Lose it. I can track my steps automatically from the Apple Watch but it does not sync Strength work outs.

Just down loaded. The lose it app, after checking it out, adding some meals I had to track calories, plus adding some exercising I did and seeing the calories I have burned versus calories consumed , I like it, I think it will help me stay on track, even though it’s not exact ,it will make a great guide to help me achieve my goal of losing 25 lbs. Kevin is right about the app being more engaging because of the colors. Might switch to premium after a month, thanks for the good reviews.

One of the things I don't like about MFP is I think its UK based because a ton of foods come up in the search that are in grams and I find that so annoying to have to weed through them to find USA measurements. Correct me if I'm wrong. Even if I do the drop down, many just have grams and that's it.

I have my fitness pal premium but I will not renew. it really pissed me off they removed the free scanning.i'm doing my research to replace my fitness pal. I like carb manager and lose it the best so far.

My fitness pal requires lots of manual, entries, and the dashboard is not customizable. Lose it on another hand pulls all data from my other devices and it’s much easier to operate and see things.

I was recently treated for a potassium deficiency, so would like to be able to track that nutrient. Is potassium tracking included with the paid version of Lose it?

  • @missbutts85

Lose it is better to me. The premium version has a lifetime option. Not having a barcode scanner free is a dealbreaker for me. I use a hidrate spark water bottle so I track in that app anyway and it writes to apple health and lose it. Also I like that lose it has an iPhone widget for macros since I care more about that than calories

What about personal data use?... MFB wont let you opt out of any data collection and will force you to delete your account, Lose it on the other hand does and will allow you to control what data the app cpollects. Thats all you need to know to make your decision. It's a lot of data you're giving away
