    Their removal of the barcode scanner for free version users was such a sneaky move - I left MFP after that

      I didn't think I would be annoyed so much with the ads. But it really feels cluttered now. If it wasn't obvious in the video, I don't think MFP is worth it anymore - even on the free version.

      @@jjpeddle2578 Lol, *eye roll*. The fact is that you can track your macros at half the cost of MFP nowadays. So the fact that they're charging what they are with inferior features is going to be the nail in the coffin.

    They've been going downhill for the last couple of years. I have the paid version of My fitness pal and it is horrible too, fyi. It's far and beyond the bar code not being free anymore. It's just awful. I stayed with it because it was easy in the past and I'm a creature of habit but I'm over it. Can't even get correct food information in their database. Even the green checkmarked items that are supposed to be correct aren't. Every day I'm manually inputting the food information. I'm ending my membership now.

    • @feast_good
      @feast_good  Год назад

      I think a lot of people are with MFP for the same reason (i.e. it's what they've always used and it's what they know). I still do think it has some use cases in the diet/nutrition tracking market, but I'm a big fan of other apps now and it's not even CLOSE with what other apps can do in comparison. Check out my review of MacroFactor (ruclips.net/video/qSayi6Dt3To/видео.html).

      Yes, the database for MyFitnessPal is large because it has a global database (you can find foods from other countries outside the US easily). However, what's the point of having a large database if there are countless inaccurate entries. If you're in the US, other app databases I've tested work just fine.

    One thing that I don't see mentioned as a con for MFP in any review is that your data is completely locked in. There is NO WAY to get food history at a detail level out of the app. All of the export functionality even at a premium level is summary at the macro nutrient level. If you ever want to do any real analysis on what you have eaten you are out of luck. Curious how regularly you eat red meet? How many alcoholic drinks you really have had? How often you have a sugary treat for desert? To bad. MFP intentionally keeps this information from you. What if you want to leverage all the new AI chatbots to do a deep dive into your eating patterns? Ya, too bad there too. I can't believe this isn't talked about more.

    • @feast_good
      @feast_good  5 месяцев назад

      That's an interesting point. What data would you like to see in an export function?

    • @paulhetherington1626
      @paulhetherington1626 5 месяцев назад

      @@feast_good Thanks for your reply. In short, all of it. It's our data, we tirelessly keyed it in. Not providing it in a portable format is 'user lock-in' and a shady practice. I should point out that I have since learned you can infact get a 'printable report' from you food journal. But unfortunately it seems to be intentionally formatted in a way that would be very laborious for the use to do much with it other than read it. This only proves the data is in the system and easy to get at. Why not include that in the 'export' function? Again, seems shady to me. As users, and as RUclipsr's we need to demand better.
