I'm very honored to have met you Ed. I'm equally honored to train under your direction for the LA Marathon in 2017. Thank you kindly for helping me become a better traveler by foot. I think it's the only way to travel! I enjoyed learning more about your life and dreams that have come true in this great video! It's just amazing!!!
Thanks so much Petty. Meeting you at the Temecula half-marathon was a real blessing. Looking forward to accompanying you across the finish line in Santa Monica on 3/19/17, for your first marathon. It will change your life forever! Dream B I G ! Believe B I G G E R !! Passionately Pursue Your I'mPOSSIBLE!!! ONward & UPward . . .
Not only are you a congenial gentleman on the race courses but also an eloquent motivational speaker. It has been a pleasure to run with you at Across the Years and elsewhere. Keep it up. Love those buckles. Keep calm and jester on! :)
+Galen Garrison Thanks so much Galen. It's been an honor for me to share the course with you. Dream Big! Believe Bigger! Turn the I'mpossible to I'M POSSIBLE! Jester on . . .
I know exactly what you mean about "well meaning fellow athletes" and misting eyes from my Olympic length triathlon finish in 2015. I got cramps and was last out of the water on the 1500 meter swim. Three miles into the 40K bike I had a flat tire with no spare and was forced to bike the course in reverse to the start being cat called ("your'e going the wrong way")..I was in tears when I told the RD I didn't want to be forced to quit. It would have been my only lifetime DNF-. He finally helped me secure a tire that fit.
Great story Eddie. I believe it's those very adversities that make our successes so much more meaningful. I also believe it's those very experiences that give us empathy for our fellow humanity. REALize your UP - Ultimate Potential - each and every day. Ever UPward & ONward my friend . . .
Glad you enjoyed it Dhanya. ------------------------- Dare to Dream Extreme and passionately pursue your IMpossible UP - Ultimate Potential. Extreme Dreamers WIN! Run Far - Ever UPward & ONward . . .
wow... amazing message! love it! got to dream big and take action! awesome! wish you and your family all the best! May you be blessed more and. ore to inspire more lives! May your life be filled with more and more virtue, concentration, wisdom, kindness, love, compassion, happiness, peace, balance, prosperity, and productivity! I hope you will come closer and closer to fully understanding the four nobel truths in life and attain Nibbana! I loved this TedX talk. We need to hear him speak again!
I loved your talk! Maybe I missed it but how did the whole "Jester" persona thing get started? I remember first meeting you and learning about you back at the Bear Lake Marathons in Idaho 06/10/11 & Utah 06/11/11. I did back to back marathons that weekend to qualify for the Marathon Maniacs and remember seeing you out there in your Jester outfit and was asking the other runners about you. I live in San Diego so after that double marathon weekend I seem to see you all over the place at many many races and it is always so awesome to see you out there! It is nice to now know your story. I just seemed to have missed the "Jester" part of it. See you soon out at another race, I am sure! ~Karen (Marathon Maniac #4024, Half Fanatic #1043, Double Agent #158)~
Hi Karen. Great to hear from a fellow Marathon Maniac (#1594). Thanks for your kind words. The Jester persona story. I was running with different funny hats at the marathons I was doing in 2010-2011, while pursuing the world record for most marathons in a year. In fact, that marathon double weekend in Idaho/Utah where we met in June, 2011 was near the tail-end of that pursuit. As I wore different crazy hats I'd buy for a couple bucks at Goodwill, I put on a jester hat - and it fit. Literally and figuratively! From that point on, I wore the jester hat to every race. Eventually my wife made the multi-colored jester skirt, with bells to match the hat, and the rest, as they say, is history. I've now completed over 200 races as "The Jester", and plan to continue to do so, as long as I can. Looking forward to seeing you at another race soon. Continue to pursue your passionate purpose. Ever UPward & ONward . . .
Looking forward to meeting you someday Paula. Yes, Joe Fejes and other running friends speak highly of Snowdrop. It's held at the same time as ATY 6-day. I've done ATY for the past seven years, plus it's AZ and I'm CA - much closer than Snowdrop. I'll probably keep going back until they ban 'Jester's' from the race. Best of luck at Snowdrop. The timed, loop events are my all-time favorite races (I've done over 100 of 'em). The most important thing to remember at a timed, loop event - HAVE FUN! Ever UPward & OPward . . .
Yusuf, thank you for your valuable input. Very much appreciated. My goal with this speech was to use my experience of giving up on my dreams for 15 years, to inspire others to revisit their long forgotten and buried dreams. Even if just one individual sees this and takes action in passionately pursuing those lost dreams, and maybe in turn is able to inspire someone else to do the same, than maybe the world might just be a little better place because of it. As Gandhi said, "Be the change that you wish to see in the world." Obviously my message did not resonate with you in that way, and for that I apologize. As an aspiring professional speaker, I'm always open to constructive criticism on what I can do to make a connection with my audience, and make my speeches more appealing, entertaining, inspiring, and ultimately, hopefully even life-changing. I'll take your message to heart. Thank you for your perspective, and for providing me with a valuable growth opportunity. Dream BIG! Believe BIGGER! Passionately Pursue the I'mPOSSIBLE! Jester on . . .
