- Step by step ribbon change tutorial on my R. L. Allan NASB SCR. The replacement ribbon is Berisfords 10mm Sable. This is not a difficult process but does take patience. And please note by doing this you may wave bye to any warranty or guarantee from any manufacturer.

Still relevant 4 years later and still a funny Charismatic joke.
😂 -thanks.
I am still too chicken to change out my ribbins in my Bibles. Even with Beau Tate and Brian McClurg I am still afraid I will mess things up. Thanks for showing us. You did a great job.
Then this earlier video is for you 😃 : ruclips.net/video/CeT5k0IgsyY/видео.html
Thank You
Thank You
Thank You.
I added two ribbons to my Journal The Word Bible while watching your video.
I laughed out loud so hard on that charismatic comment. It took me about two seconds to "get it." Have mercy. I clapped.
Wilson Hines - lol.
😂😂 funny at the end...but thank you so much. Because i have 2 R.L. Allan's the 7C and the Blackface. And the ribbons on those are horrible. Thank you brother 🙏
Thank you. This was by far the best video I found. You gave me the confidence to change the ribbons of my Bible. God bless you!
Thanks!
Thank you so much. I have a Cambridge Wide Margin with hideous ribbons. Your video talked me through the steps. I used a long hemostat to get the ribbons down into the spine a good distance. It turned out perfectly. Thanks again
Cool stuff! -thanks!
I love your wife's laugh and I agree with her.. that was hilarious !! I 🤣🤣🤣
Fray check works well for keeping the ends from, well, fraying.
Thanks!
Looks beautiful!
Thanks!!
I felt the fabric of the universe tear a little when that first Allan ribbon came out...lol. Thanks, I have a Bible with ribbons that look like tired lizard tongues, that I want to replace, and have been wondering how to do it...much appreciated!!
😂😂😂
Love It! Great job brother. Perfect tutorial 🙂
Thanks Sir! -you were such a big help to me on this one.
Off-topic, but I love that you're using (excellent) Puritan books in this video.
Reagan Marsh -thanks 🤓 I’ve got some thick Wesleyan and others too... but those just seem to be predestined to be perfect for this task.

That’s funny: “if you’re a charismatic …” haha
😂 The irony is that I am a Charismatic, but I do contend for sobriety, accountability, depth, and scriptural purity in our movement.
Thank you i just got an ESV just to see what they read like. Its a cheapy bible so it doesn't have any ribbons, now im going to give it a couple. I usually use the NASB or NKJV, sometimes the KJV.Wanted to get an ESV just out of curiosity. Thanks for the vid, very helpful.
You need a tongue depressor for those ribbons! lol. I just ripped mine out :( shoulda watched this first! Haha! Great video!
A bone folder for separation is what I use. I've done over 20 bibles using it and 5 years later, you can't tell anything was ever disturbed. 👍
Thank you for building up the courage to do this project, I managed to attempt to reattach the edge binding cover sheet in my Classic Reference Top Grain ESV and messed it up completely..but it just looks like a good broken in Bible now in one shot..lol
Lol, yes, I practiced on some older ones 1st before I did this one.
The funny thing my practice trails came out better the the actual attempt..lol
oh no
Thanks for sharing this tutorial. Can you tell me what brand/model of scissors you were using?
Great Teaching Video on replacing Ribbons. No way would I ever do it though because I am pretty sure I'd mess up my Bibles. I will stick to the Ribbons I have in there and continue to use Bookmarks if the Ribbons annoy me. Actually I like Bookmarks better -- especially the kind that clip on 😁. But GREAT JOB! 🌺
Well, I'm on my way. I have that edition of The Christian in Complete Armour and tweezers.
😃 Yes!!
Can I use PVA glue for it just like I would for the edge lined construction?
You could, sorry for the late reply.
Hey David. Would you share the specs on your replacement ribbon (brand, width, color, where you found it, etc). I might be ready to try this!
Its made by Berisfords Ribbon: 10mm; Color Sable. I found this one on Amazon but there's also sellers on eBay.
The tutorial
the tutorial starts @ 5:30
Definitely starts at 5:17 to be precise
Honestly, I would not recommend shoving any tong tool down the back of the spine of any bible, as you did, because you could really damage the stitching that's holding that thing together! I've learned from a pastor I watch how to open that headband and you can just snip those old ribbons off behind the headband without yanking them right out. To open the head band a space it is safer to use a butter knife (a completely smooth edges blunt knife) and be very gentle about opening it.
Thanks for the pointers!!
where did you buy the ribbon?
amazon
That seems like a lot of glue you applied - do you have concern of it oozing out onto gild edge?
No not really. I haven't had an issue.
🌈
So YHWH & Culture use that totally different. What do you mean by it?
@@davidleebrown3956 , you sound very, nice.
@@Kefa... - shucks…thanks.
I use PVA bookbinding glue.
Thanks!
Shoot, what if you have the little version of Christian in Complete Armour?
Then use Looking Unto Jesus by Issac Ambrose to stack it 🤓
Cool video!
Thanks Vicki!
Hi, May I ask where you purchased the ribbon?
Amazon
@@davidleebrown3956 thank you!
Did you get a new NASB? Brown goatskin?
-I've had this one for a a few years.
Why not just glue to the spine opening?
Because then the ribbons would come over the headband. That would not look like a professional job.
Ravenhill!!!!hahahha
Yes! -We could use a fresh dose of Ravenhill on the church.
"Alright, I had a sweet potato." LOL!
Gilt is jacked up. Amateur.
You sound like a kind person full of the fruit of the Spirit. Thanks for the feedback.
