    Just changed ribbons in my Schuyler Old PSQ. Went from 2 reds to 3 longer reds. Was nervous but the method worked out wonderfully. Thanks brother J for your helpful instruction and expertise

    Your teachings about binding and rebinding are awesome. I will probably never try to do it, but it is always good to learn the hows and the whys.

    Thank you Jeremiah. I’ve changed ribbons in several of my bibles and that is going well. That tape idea is excellent! Peace my friend✌🏻

    Archival ink works great because it’s waterproof. Other inks would come off on your hands if you perspire at all or if the Bible somehow got wet.

    I have been doing all of this to bibles for several years and have found other inks that work well. Delicata makes beautiful shiny ink. I love their Pink Shimmer on burgundy bibles and their Rose Gold on blue or brown bibles. Brillance makes good shiny ink as well---love their Rocket Red Gold. Memento also has good ink---especially in pastel colors that look nice with silver gilt.

    THANK YOU! I've looked for this sort of tutorial, and came up lacking, in fact slightly damaged a REB new testament following poor technique and tools. Excited to try this on another NT i have. Unrelated: I want to rebind a Clarion; is there any advatage to starting with an edge lined copy vs. a paste down (and cheaper) version? Thank you and all the best to your ministry in California. (I spent many weekends nearby in Coloma)

    Could you do a video on how to.change out the paper paste down liner to a vinyl one on a trutone/synthetic leather? I have a good new trutone but the paper liner is going to tear soon. Confused about how the vinyl would attach to the block and whether or not you keep part of the paper liner or not.

    Jeremiah, quick question about that tape. Do you know if it said anywhere about it being pH neutral / acid-free? I know that acidic glues or tapes can cause oxidation on the pages, but wasn't sure to what extent that could have on a spine if used for the bands and ribbons. I just bought a roll of Scotch book binding tape that I'm going to try to use for my ribbons on some hardback books, but I wasn't sure if you had any thoughts on whether acid-free vs non acid-free tape mattered on the ribbons and bands in terms of the portion of the spine that would be touching the tape.

    What would your advice be for gilding a Bible that came plain white edges?

      @wisconsinwoodsman1987 8 месяцев назад +2

      No difference, except you won’t wipe page edges down. May still have to wipe the top page a bit.

    You made it look so easy. Love the look I have a soft cover book that doesn’t have a cover like this where I could add ribbons like you did here. Is there any way you could think of doing it that wouldn’t look like a DIY gone wrong??

  • @chrisa4583

    How do you add a ‘twist’ to the ribbon? I see it in some of my Bibles. Is it a good or bad thing? Is it really hard without removing the cover?

    • @Keep_preaching
      @Keep_preaching  3 месяца назад

      I would add the twist prior to install the ribbons :) wouldn't say good or bad, just preference.

    In the video you said Berisfords ribbons, but the link in the description is for Ribbli ribbons. Do you use Ribbli ribbons? And if you do are they decent?

    • @Keep_preaching

      They are a great alternative to Berisfords, great quality.

    Don’t use 80 Grit sand paper or a belt sander to prep the edges for inking… it won’t end well 😂

  • @judyelliott3858
    @judyelliott3858 9 месяцев назад

    Interesting video but I have to respectfully disagree with the way you did the ribbons. They should never overlap and should be glued to the spine before inserting the headband. Not so much bulk that way.

    • @pimplecheese337
      @pimplecheese337 8 месяцев назад

      Why shouldn’t they overlap?

    • @Keep_preaching
      @Keep_preaching  7 месяцев назад +1

      Only way to fit 3 in is to overlap them, many professional bible makers do this same thing, it causes no issues. Yes, you should use glue, the was an easy DIY method, the whole point of the video.
