    My bible started falling apart , tried hot gluing, didn't work, tried tape obviously didn't work and got totally called out for it when I found this video. 🤣 Thankfully I didn't reach the "point of no return " and was able to watch this video and followed along. Happy to say I've successfully fixed my own bible !!

    My wife had a bible she dearly loved and as she's a real note taker, it was filled wih YEARS of annotations. The cover separated on one side and we were thinking of getting it rebound. In looking on the web, we came across this and it was just what i needed. I ordered the materials and just now finished re-attaching the cover to her bible. It will be waiting for her when she gets home. Thanks SO much!

    My English-Spanish Bible fell apart. It was unusable. My wife gave this to me as a Christmas present in 2006. I have used it extensively in Cuba and daily here in the USA. It was with me on three occasions in Peru. I followed your instructions, and my old Bible now sits back on my desk! Thanks for the lesson on rebinding my Bible!

    Thank you so much for pointing out the extra space to allow movement when it opens! I think I may be binding mine too tight or too close to the spine, especially for the thicker leather I've been trying. I'm probably putting undue strain on the block where the liner tabs attach. The physics are hard for me to predict precisely, and by the time you can see how it turned out, the glue is set.

    Thank you for sharing this information. Your work is exceptional! My bible has this "classic" break that you mention and I want to repair it myself. It is an Oxford University Press Scofield bible that I got in 1982. All of the pages and signatures are in good shape, just a complete break on the back cover between the cover sheet and the bible paper. Will the repair method be the same for my Oxford as it is for your Cambridge in this video? Thanks!

      I know you are busy and it's the Christmas holidays as well. I repaired my bible using this method with a few differences due to the fact that it isn't a pit minion binding. I went 1/2" on each side of the binding with the book cloth and craft paper and for the cover, I used the bone folder to separate the end sheet material from the cover 1/2" deep in order to attach the new binding. I glued both sides of the paper and cloth instead of just one side because mine doesn't have the 3/16" gap. After gluing and putting it in the press, it is like new. I also had some signatures that I thought I was going to have to glue together from the inside after putting on the cover but the new binding fixed them as well. Thank you again for taking the time to put these videos together. It is such great help! God bless you!

    Good job I have a local church Bible publishers 180 with a synthetic liner and it's starting to crack next to the text block whats your take on synthetic liners it seems to me that they're not really made to last that long what's your take on Pace down paper liners vs. Synthetic liners what do you like better? Thank you

    • @Keep_preaching
      @Keep_preaching  Год назад

      Some synthetic liners, like LCBP uses, are of great quality. Like Cambridge bibles that have synthetic liners, they last. Any material on a bible, if taken care of will last. Bible covers fail because when they are drying out, to prevent this some leather oil will greatly help, but once it begins to fail it is too late unfortunately.

    Thank you, that is a very helpful video. I was really disappointed after taking my bible from my teens to a local Christian publisher, and they really just used tape (all over some of the quotes I'd written in the endpapers!!! I have another preaching bible, that you've inspired me to have a go fixing. Your sound was just fine by the way, thank you, and blessings back to you!
    One question: The preaching bible still to be repaired has no stitched signatures, just a whole lot of pages all glued together... except for when they have come apart. There are a few individual pages in the middle of the two main sections. I plan to use bookcloth on it as you've shown. Any suggestions on how to ensure the individual pages are glued in? It was a gift from the church at the time, and is sentimental for that reason.

    Hi there, I really enjoyed your video and thanks for taking YOUR time to make it! I do have a question, Is the glue you use on the spine (from the jar) the same glue you have in the little needle bottle to reattach the pages? I only saw one glue in the links but wanted to make sure.

    Hi, great vídeo! Just what i needed to repair an old Portuguese language dictionary 🙂
    Can you tell me what material, besides the cloth, that you've used in the spine? That is some glossy , thick type of black coloured paper. Right?

      It looks like construction paper.. like the kinds we all probably used as kids. They sell them so many places.. craft stores.. Walmart. Target..

    your video of You and Rebinding is Insperational. 😊 although- My question is this-- (and in NO way do I know anything of book binding. God's Honest Truth) ! Any way, when you respined--- instead of using the black paper,, can thin piece of soft real leather be used??.....and will the glue hold the leather?? Thanks 4 posting, GREAT VIDEO!!
