#1979 #vintage #fender Видеоклипы
Just so you know, the weight is 7lbs 11oz. Super light for that era.
Want to see more 1979? Check out this video too:

I had a 76 Strat that weighed a ton. Ash body that was so heavy.
Philip McKnight always says this weight is the sweet spot for him. Edit: about 8 lbs, even 7.5 lbs
Incredible’
Would've been nice to hear how much it cost in '79. Thanks in advance. 😎🇭🇲
I’m super stoked for you Landon. A person works hard to get things they truly treasure. I can see how stoked you are. Cannot wait for the demo.
👍👍🎸
I just bought the Jimi Hendrix fender Stratocaster Authentic Hendrix with the American 65 Grey button pickups couldn't be happier...that strat of yours Landon Bailey is gorgeous
very nice! cheers
Congratulations Landon she's a beauty! In 1979 I was a 19 year old college kid playing an Electra X220 through my Ampeg G-20. I still have them both.
ah k cool. cheers!
I had an Electra as well! A 50s strat copy. Got it in the mid 80s when at high school. Sold it eventually when I got my 1st American Fender Strat.
Great stuff man (and a great year). 🎸
ya 79 produced a couple decent Canadian and Australian kids too 😝. I found this gem in a pile of rough models made around that time.
Shane's one if my favorite channels..hi Shane!
@@ericwarrington6650 thanks mate 🙏
👍🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲👍
In 1979 I was 15yrs old and got my first guitar for Christmas. It was a Hondo Deluxe Series 780, an explorer shape guitar. I still have it.
@Lee Berry
Greetings, My Comrade In Axe!!!
In 1980 My Parents Bought My 15 Year Old Self A Hondo "The Paul" Guitar For My Birthday & I STILL HAVE MINE, TOO!!! 🎸🎶🎶😁 All The Best To You!!!
@@keithmcduffie7182 nice to meet a fellow Hondo guitar owner. I do wish I'd learned to play guitar. Time to actually learn before I get too old🎸🧓⌚
I had one that looked very similar to this somewhere around '76 or '77. It was hand picked at the factory for me by the factory manager at the time, after winning a guitar marathon put on by Guitar Center. I sold it many years ago but wish I still had it. The grain on yours looks as good or better than mine ... I can almost taste it. Brings back memories.
ah cool thanks for sharing!
That’s a nice story. But stop eating guitars.
I’m praying like crazy that it turns out to be everything you hoped for. The ‘late ‘70’s and early 80’s wasn’t a great time for Fender, but there are good ones from EVERY era.
this is one of the good ones :)
Congratulations Landon. I hope it's every bit as good as you hope it is and that you have heaps of fun with it.
it's the whole package. great condition, sounds good, and light :)
Nice video. Its always nice to see someone look overwhelmingly happy.
I'm not sure how it came across in the video. was super excited and nervous to open it up
Congratulations on a really nice guitar. I graduated high school in 1979.
👍🎸
Congratulations that looks awesome cant wait for the demo. 1979 I was 16 and had got my first guitar a strat copy made in Japan Custom brand .I still have it and play it
ah cool!
Congratulations! What a find! I very much remember in the 70’s when natural finishes were the rage!
still looks great. similar to the roasted pine Pro II Strats out now
I love this model so much, Its one of my big dream... With ash body and from 1979. Wood grain absolutely gorgeous. PURE GOLD.
cheers!
I had a 1975 Fender Strat with ash body and maple fretboard that I bought new in 1975. It was an awesome guitar. Congrats on your new old Strat!
Very cool!
Congratulations! In 1979 I was an 11 year old playing my Kay Strat copy, and my classical guitar made by The Global Musical Instrument Company, LTD. I still have the classical guitar, but sadly I don’t still have that Kay….
hey thanks!
Awesome Stratocaster! 🎸
Congratulations!
In 79 I was graduating from 8th grade and going into HS.
Very cool!
Congratulations Landon! I am a bit older than you. In 1979 I got my first Strat, a 1969 model. I still have it. It is my no 1 guitar and is seriously road worn after over 40 years of gigs, teaching and practice sessions. Still love it. Hope you get many decades of music out of yours. Cheers Danny in Tasmania
That's my birth year, let me know when you want to sell :-)
Right on!
Way better than getting a Silver Sky SE!
Woe woe, we all know every SE is every bit as good or better than any American made instrument and the best "hands down" that I've ever played. Just repeating what I've heard.
ya this is a whole other thing
how nice would it be to see at least one chapter with the word "Unboxing"
I'm letting RUclips handle the timestamps in shorter videos. They are supposed to be auto generated eventually.
In April 1979 I was a senior in high school. That's a gorgeous guitar. Looking forward to hearing it.
Congrats on that Strat!! I feel for your son and all the dad jokes he must put up with 😂😂😂
the jokes are his payment for helping out 🤪
That's cool that you got a birth year. I'm from Detroit and am in Birmingham often, so the history of purchase from there makes it even cooler.
hey cool! I looked up the address of the store on Google maps and it doesn't seem to exist anymore
I am SO HAPPY for you Landon! I can tell how much you appreciate getting that sweet sweet Fender! Enjoy it buddy
Thanks again!
Awesomeness!
In `79 I was 13 and embarking on a lifetime of bad habits. Not one of which was the guitar. . . I did it wrong.
🤣
Ohhhhh dude congratulations!! That’s the dream. I was born 1974 so, turning 50 in 2024, my dream is a ‘74 Fender. Well done sir!!!
ah cool! thanks!
@@landonbailey You're living the dream!
Sweet.....I was 10 years old when that Strat was sold....
Congrats Landon, it's a beauty! Can't wait to hear it, I'm super happy for you man!
Thanks a ton!
My first thought was that it was a nostalgic purchase. Judging by my impression of your approximate age, I figured 70’s Strat!
good call!
Congratulations Dude....finding a birth year guitar that’s as cool as that one...well done my man....well done indeed!!!!!
ya I found a gem
I was 12. I just got a Martin acoustic from a garage sale. I don't know how much my mom paid for it. But I still have it. I'm a Telecastor man but that's a beeeautiful Strat. Congrats can't wait to hear it.
🎸👍
Thanks for sharing your moment with us!
My pleasure!!
The wood figuring is really cool
Where was I in '79? Probably watching Mr. Rogers.
Congrats, felicitations, and mazel tov, Landon! Hope it plays every bit as well as it looks good, too!
Alas! In '79, I was nowhere yet...
cheers!
Congratulations! So happy for you! Enjoy!
thanks!
Congratulations Landon that's a beauty
Strings and Things was a very well known store. They were one of the first to build and refinish Les Paul's to 59' burst specs in the late 70s. Eventually they got Gibson to build the pre historic Les Paul's along with a few other shops like Leo's.
this was 'Music Strings 'N' Things'. Is that the same place?
Nice. I hope you enjoy it. It's kinda funny that it spent the first part of its life less than 500 miles away from where it would end in Ottawa, Canada
ya the history is cool. it was born in Fullerton, then took a trip north and back to Cali, and then back north.
Congrats mate - it’s awesome!
thanks!
Congratulations LANDON👍🎸⭐️🎸👍
thanks!
Nice !
In 1979 I was a grade school kid beginning my hearing loss regiment cranking the newly released Knack premier album, and Van Halen 2.
👍
Ohhhhhh, you bought one of those 79s!!! Congrats on that beautiful Strat. She is a dandy!
it's not the 79s I was looking at from Edmonton. but same year :)
@@landonbailey Oh yeah... duh me🙄😂
Also from Ottawa, born in '79 and you posted this video on my birthday! Very cool guitar and can't wait for the demo.
Very cool! happy belated bday
That’s awesome! Congratulations!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Yay Landon! Congrats buddy! 🙌
Thanks!!
The grain on the body is fantastic!
Beautiful guitar.
I was 19 in 79. None of your business what I was doing. 🤣
🎸🤣👍
+1 for 70's Headstock flex
💪
Even on RUclips, you can see what a quality guitar that is and its always a huge relief when something arrives thats at least as good as you hoped. Would be great if the original owner got in touch.I was in secondary school in the UK in '79.
🎸👍
It's a Beauty. Congrats. Enjoy it in good health and great music!
Congratulations 👏🤘🎸 Can't wait to see the demo.
I have to demo it now? 🤪
That is stunning and in incredible condition. Great find :) and congratulations.
thanks!
Congratulations Landon she's a beauty
Congrats! It looks amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Congratulations!! Awesome guitar!
cheers!
Looks very nice, congrats!
In April 79' I was a Jr in High School, a stones throw from Birmingham Mi.
Bought snow skis the previous Fall in Birmingham.
ah cool!
It's rare when life exceeds our expectations. Beautiful Strat, Landon - may it sound as great as it looks! Happy musical trails...
ya it's been a great experience :)
Congratulations Dude!!!
Thank you so much 😀
Wow! That is amazing! Congrats!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
That is in amazing good condition. Not as worn as my 83 JV without a doubt. Of all the finishes the natural is my favourite of the 70s. In 79 I finished high school. Went briefly to college before returning to school for 6th form. I was messed up. Was in a band called Chain Reaction at the time
There’s something welcoming with natural wood finishes
ya for sure
Nice! And very happy for you!
cheers thanks!
Nice dude keep em coming !!!!!
Thanks! Will do!
Hey! I'm from 1979 too! And i swear, in 42 years my guitars will probably look this good too 😊😊 Nothing wrong with keep'n em clean 👍👍
Totally!
Sweet, that is one really sweet axe my brother!!! Congratulations on such a beautiful guitar. 🙌🏻🎸
👍🎸
Oh you got one!! Congrats Landon! This made me happy :-)
Yes! Thank you!
Wow, the color is killer. My favorite, I’m partial to white or rd but. That is awesome looking. I played for 57 years and started serious playing from 1966 to 1970 and I can attest , those 70 guitars were awesome.
Congrats! What a find!! Always awesome when the actual guitar is better than the pictures
Couldn't agree more!
congrats! Enjoy it Landon
Happy for you!
Congratulations Landon, really glad for you.
thanks!
Congrats man!
Thanks!
Great find for a great guy! Excited with you brother. Guitar looks gorgeous. Hope it plays and sounds the same. Fingers crossed 🤞 cause you deserve this. Looking forward to the demo video. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much!
Damn. Congrats, man!
Graduating from Kearsley High School, 79 is super fine!, in Flint, Michigan, I know where Grand Rapids is. Nice acquisition.
👍🎸
I’m very happy tor you, Landon. What a great pick! Play it in good health, and love it forever.
cheers thanks!
Congratulations 👏🔥
Thanks 🔥
Looks GREAT! Love the woodgrain!
same!
Great Guitar!!! In 1979 I Was A Freshman In High School Playing TROMBONE In The Marching Band, But Having Gotten A KAY Cherry Colored Bass For Christmas 1978 (Which My Brother Who Also Played Trombone & Piano Played Better
Than Me). 2 Years Later I Got A Hondo "The Paul" Guitar, Quit The Trombone & The Rest Is History! 😁 🎸🎶🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
I used to play clarinet in my school band :)
Awesome, I'm glad you got a natural finish! And the weirdest part of this is that I lived in Grand Rapids Michigan in 1979. Right now I live about 25 miles south of Grand Rapids. Almost exactly in between G.R. and Kalamazoo. Nice find Landon, gotta say I'm a bit jealous LOL!
Have fun with her brother, she's definitely a beauty.
Peace from Southwest Michigan!
👽👍🎸🧠🌌♾
ah cool!
CONGRATS!
thanks Charles!
I’m from 1982. I was thinking of doing the same thing but haven’t found the right one yet. Cool guitar! Can’t wait to hear it.
keep looking :)
@@landonbailey How did the weather affect it? Everything okay??
Looks sweet. cant wait to see the review.
congratulations brother!
🎉
That wood grain - Very nice 👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Absolutely gorgeous! Love that wood grain.
ya it looks just like that in person
Congrats! Looking forward to the demo.
You and me both!
Beautiful! I was born in 1977, so I was still a tot
Very cool!
I'm a fan of seeing the actual wood of the guitar body, so this looks appealing from what I can see here. Look forward to hearing what it sounds like.
ya they probably had to use nicer wood on the clear coat guitars
I like paint
April 28th my B-day. Something in common. Looks well taken care of! I was just getting cable TV in 1979! Nice guitar and good for you dude!!
it's definitely been played, but super well taken care of
Beautiful guitar.
thanks!
Beautiful strat Landon
thanks!
Congratulations!
Thanks Nella!
That's a gorgeous guitar. Enjoy.
thanks!
Congratulations, very sweet guitar. You deserve it...
Thanks a lot! thanks for all the support. I only had to sell one of my kids to pay for it! worth it
Dang! I was sure it was a Telecaster! In 1979 I was moving to Austin with my first guitar, a law-suit les paul, made in Japan. 4 years later I bought my first Fender, a 1972 Tele Deluxe. Love those big head-stocks. Still don't own a Strat; holding out for a '54. An old guy brought one to work one day to show me his gigging guitar from the 50s (western swing in Central Texas). This was in the early 80s -- it looked brand new! Never forgotten that, and I've had some nice guitars. Birth-year guitar: 1958 Gibson J-45. Congrats and thanks.
cheers!
Beauty. Congrats man!! Shocked when it wasn’t a Tele! Can’t wait for the playing vid!
if a 79 Tele ever shows up in great shape like this, I'd be all over it
Congrats. That's one badass strat
👍🎸
Happy New Guitar Day Landon! Well Deserved!
thanks!
It's a beauty, congratulations on the acquisition! Looking forward to the demo!
(It will look excellent next to the '79 Lead II you are gonna buy from me! 🤣)
🤪👍
