Landon. Those people are joy robbers who project there miserable insides onto to others because they have nothing to offer. But you, have made a go at what you enjoy doing. Don't ever let anyone in your head unless they're paying you rent.. keep up the videos bro
First time on this channel and idk about anyone else but i love the non serious vibe this reminds me to chill and just have fun instead of expecting so much out of my playing it's a refreshing approach I don't see often.
The only people who get upset calling a squier a fender are the elitists who are upset they paid all that money for a fender and didn't get those same dollars back in quality
Hey Landon, don't listen to the naysayers. I always find your videos entertaining and I enjoy your sense of humour. Maybe because I'm Canadian. The only problem I have is that your love of Telecasters makes me want to get one also but I just bought a PRS S2 McCarty 594 4 months ago. Great guitar that PRS. Oh well, maybe someday.
The GH has a lot more push and authority when you throw the dirt on it. It really punches out there. I love the look as well. Pure class with that rosewood.
Fender did not prroduce many of the rosewood Tele models.I'm really not sure if they are producing them today. I'm sure you could order one from Fenders custom shop at a pretty steep price. George played his in the famous performance of "Don't Bring Me Down" which I believe was the Beatles last time playing together as a band, along with Billy Preston on electric piano. This must hsve been in the late.fall of 1969 on the rooftop of Apple in north London. Of course the very best Tele you could possibly get today would be the ones custom hand built by that extrodinary luthier De Temple in southetn Cal. Those guitars are awesome players and the tone is to die for. Better not be in a hurry though. Ther's close to a 4 year wait for those babies!!
I understand George Harrison used the GH Tele on one recording session. Did not care for it. Gave it away to some lucky person, and that was it. Never picked it up again.
Imagine that, the artist it was made for didn't like it. Anyone can find a reason to dislike one or the other. Harrison was probably given that Fender Telecaster too ? Which is an even bigger burn. The GH Rosewood is a beautiful guitar though. Glad that someone can enjoy it. The Sonic is Poplar. I think they're just rebadged Bullets with some Affinity wood & parts used to spec them. Previous Bullets & Affinity are Basswood, the Poplar only showed up post pandemic for higher prices. Give me a Basswood Bullet just the same as a Poplar Sonic. The rest of it is Maple & Indian Laurel for wood species.
I’m an accidental Tele fan. Started off with a 2008 MIM in Midnight Wine back in ‘08. Always wanted one but figured one would be all I would need/want. And while I’m mostly a Strat guitarist, I now own 6 Tele’s. 😂 Always dig your vids! Cheers!
I had a question about a Squier 70s CV Custom Telecaster about a month ago. Landon had reviewed this guitar. I emailed him and got a response back within an hour. If was much appreciated. Keep up the great work Landon. Cheers from Winnipeg.
The other guy wants the Harrison Tele. I will gleefully take the sonic. I can't even afford that one. Retired on a fixed income. He'll, candy bars are to expensive for me. Landon, I have spent many hours enjoying the heck out of your videos. They bring me joy
I have got to laugh! In December 1982, my band was playing the top club in my hometown of Windsor Ontario, and we were showcasing all kinds of musical equipment for music retailers, who were videoing the gear on stage. One night I used an all-rosewood Fender George Harrison telecaster, which also featured gold plated hardware. I remember thinking 'this is a good as it gets'. And yes, I made sure I did not have a belt with a buckle that night.
@@stancoleshill8925 Hardly. While the music companies were recording, bouncers kept anyone not in the band off the stage. Serious money on that stage, and big bouncers.
The Squier is a good beginner's guitar and mod platform, but the Harrison is totally superior in every way. It's like a Rolls Royce compared to a Chrysler.
Oh & a Princeton? One of the best combos Fender ever made. Undoubtedly one of the best clean sounds. Then, just run something like a BE Deluxe through it, & you sure do have your clean & dirty sound, covered! Although if you really wanna do it right, run two with an A-B pedal!
The Squier is a beautiful shade of red....at least as far as how it looks on camera. I'm sure it looks nice in person too but, it may look slightly different in person compared to how it looks on camera.
@Luke It just so happens that I'm a bass player, but you are absolutly right about the comparison between guitars and women. I know that in my case the days would inevitably come when I would be moveing on to a new bass and a new girlfriend / woman. Well, at least I was an excellant player / vocalist when I was young.
Seems like the Sonic fared worse for the tuning problem, but so far as guitar sound with dirt on it heard through room mics... well, let's just say they're "functionally similar" enough that it wouldn't have mattered which one you picked to play a gig. Guitarists get too hung up on the sound of a guitar in isolation, when everything between the output jack through pedals to amp to microphone to board to venue PA and buried under all the other instruments in the mix will make the 40x price multiplier pretty pointless. So long as it stays in tune, at least! :)
? So would you say this was a “Now And Then” comparison?……Actually I do have a question. I appreciate your videos and opinions and wonder what you think of Fender’s Noiseless pickups they are putting in the Fender Telecaster Plus. Thank you.
Even if the parts and materials were exactly the same...and let's say the cheaper stuff they use for Asian made guitars, it'd still cost much more for a US made version simply because of the wages American workers get. Even the minimum wage in the US is more than the Asian workers get per hour. You are also paying a portion of the higher price just for the "prestige" of the brand name.
The red one was out of tune since you were doing something with it... shoveling maybe? I got a blonde Squire for a hundred bucks years ago. It was actually a serviceable (enough) single coil guitar, especially with reverb and buried in a mix with better guitars. Pickup output was low, but it was still bright like one would expect from a Tele. Maybe six months later I got a Fender James Burton signature Tele on ebay for I think $215, so passed the cheap one on to my son. ....as for the losers who complain about your playing, yeah, they're jealous. They sit around the basement with lots of gear they bough to try to sound like actual musicians. That's what big box retailers want. When I was young and putting together my first band, A friend and I were auditioning drummers. We went to this guy's house and he had a full PA and stage lights set up in his (probably mom's) garage. He wasn't too good while he hit every one of the 12 drums in his kit, so wasn't the guys we got. But he felt like he was playing a stadium, so whatever. I once commented on a video with Hendrix doing an interview, and he was asked who the best guitarist is. He was gracious, as expected, because he didn't need to mouth off. My comment was that as an artist, he wasn't competing with others, because that's not the focus. Two dim bulbs replied that I must suck. I didn't reply to the first one, but by the second one, I was sick of hearing the idiocy. I told him flat out that I've played live in front of crowds in the tens of thousands, was paid pretty well to tour Europe a half dozen times, and have had record deals on three continents. I never heard back. Losers like that are the guys who suck (regardless of how many notes they can jerk off with), and have to squeal to pretend they're men. ...ANYWAY, thanks for your videos. They're fun and informative, not recitals. I'm retired in my late 60s (although I've been invited to play a set at a music festival in May, so I just dragged out a bass and guitar), and love to hear people's perspectives and reviews. Good job, as usual. Keep up the good work.
Listen man, I don't know.who these people are who are makeing unkind comments about your guitar playing abbility but I can guarantee that none of those guys would be able to carry a tune with a pitchfork!!!
The Telecaster changed how I think of and play guitar. Bought a copperburst mim on a whim after 30 years of nothing but thrashing Ibanez RGs. Now I play all kinds of things and styles, but Teles are my faves. F*ck the haters, just have fun, preferably not with my mom... though you are her type 🤔
The sound for whatever reason is sounding a bit boxy to me, I'm not sure how you are recording the amp for your videos? Perhaps it might be beneficial to use a Universal Audio OX box to bring the best out of the amps and guitars that you review? As for the guitar playing, we all need improvement but since you are running a guitar channel, I don't think it's about practice. It would make sense to get lessons from someone who can mentor your guitar playing through the years and someone that you can build a strong learning relationship with. This way your teacher will push you to explore things you may never even think of and stop you from playing the same shapes and movements on the guitar again and again. Exploring different harmonies on the guitar will also bring out all the nice harmonics and tones in the high end guitars vs the low end ones. So it's a win win situation for your channel to take the positive criticism. I think the fans would love to see you improve and yes f**k the trolls but you have to know that the guitar playing does need improvement. For e.g. I also own that Rosewood tele and let's say ....if you played some lush major 7th chords or other voicings down the neck you can really make that guitar sing and show off the sustain and the vintage pickups. You don't have to be a virtuoso and shred the guitar top to bottom. The guitar is primarily a Rhythm instrument but it's also one of the hardest instruments to learn. A good mentor will take you a long way and do wonders for the confidence as well. Love your channel , I mean well. All the best!
"Signature" guitars are always a F**KING JOKE, regarding price. I'm a huge Beatles fan, but would never even consider paying 8k, for that George Harrison guitar. Now, a Rosewood Tele? Beautiful guitars. There are other companies that make them too. If I'm not mistaken, the Sonic Teles, aren't string through the body. In my opinion, a Telecaster, is not a Telecaster, if it's not, string through. A hardtail Telecaster? When being a competent player, one sure can pick up any guitar that can be intonated, & make it sound good. I have a Squier Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster with a one piece Maple neck & I see absolutely no reason, to drop the money on a 52 reissue. I'm building a Partscaster Tele, also with a Squier Classic Vibe one piece Maple neck & it will be, a beast! I have a 7.5k rail pickup for the bridge & I'm gonna go P90 in the neck. For me, it's all about, a Les Paul & a Telecaster!
It's also unfair to compare my Vox AC15C1 with my Mesa Lonestar 2x12. The Vox wins hands down at 1/4 the cost...no joke. Fyi I dig Squires, great for pickup swaps. George should have played the Red Squire on the rooftop to go with his green pants...seriously. Don't worry about haters....they hate George too.
I don't get it, The video is titled unfair but it seems fair. The sonic was cheaper and sounds cheaper and looks cheaper when compared and came untuned well you played it.
These are both home run hitting guitars, just in different leagues. Pickups sound more refined in the Harry, like a meal with truffle umami. Hardware, electronics, wood, all better. The thing about the Sonic is that it sounds good, plays good, and it is good.
ive got a fender baja 60s telecaster and id never part with it,reasonably priced ,great build quality, excellent pickups.just a great all round telecaster.
Max Ostro proves there's nothing wrong with Squier guitars , he was doing Yngwie Malmsteen stuff on a Squier Strat when he first started and now have millions of subscribers so proof its 99% in the fingers the tone , the expensive guitars are expensive because of the parts and the wood used.
the squier clearly won this comparison, so you should just give me the rosewood guitar so you don't have to play an inferior guitar.
Lucky for you, the better one is affordable 😉

How can I not love this guy? I couldn't if I tried. Superbly relaxing and informative too.
