Grab the Tex-Mex pickups. They are very inexpensive. You can maybe pick some up for $69. they are Fender pickups made for Jimmy Vaughn. That's what he uses. So, good enough for him... you get the point. That's what I grabbed. They are legit good.

I bought a relic nitro body and neck for mine. Neither Fender but American made-mine the body was more expensive than the neck. The Fender hardware was imported, and I bought a Gotoh bridge. Twisted Tele pickups.

Nice build, great idea. Did a similar build using that body and a warmoth neck custom build with Gold Frets and added the Hipshot 2 point bridge and tuners in Gold black metal pickguard and plate with gold screws and hardware, used dimarzio HSH Utopia pickups with Gold covers, and the single coil was black with gold slugs, used the Obsidian Wire HSH and added a gold puretone jack.
Probably could have went cheaper but gold hardware I like having gold frets.

I`m in the process of building a very similar partscaster strat. I did go with the candy red mim deluxe body and an american pro II neck with rosewood freadboard, fender custom shop fat 60s pickups and a tortoise pickguard and cream knobs and covers. I`m strugling to find locking tiners in stock atm in the part of Europe I`m in but that will be sorted eventualy. Would`ve liked a full rosewood neck but those seem to be discontinued unfortunately.

I have 3 Strats now and all 3 are builds I've purchased via Warmoth. Their QC is outstanding and they are indeed licensed y Fender ( Parts are interchangeable as well ). You can do far more customization going this route for either the same price or the same and it's all make in USA. If you're handy with paints and finishes you can save yourself a lot more too. I sprayed all three with nitro lacquer as well and the 3 builds came out fabulous.
If that's not enough you can also opt for 1 - piece bodies and even put in a request to go extra light in weight as well ( Typically only a $50.00 upcharge, well worth it in my meaningless opinion 😆 ).
If you haven't..... definitely check them out Landon 🤟

I work with engineers and one of my jobs is putting together bills of materials and assemblies for products and when I was building a '65 MIJ-style Mustang, I put together a bill of material that covers everything to build the guitar with each major area broken down into a sub-assembly, and I had columns for cost that added sales tax and shipping so I had a good idea of what I'd ultimately pay for everything. Maybe I'll share the Google spreadsheet one of these days so people can use it as a base for building a guitar since it might be helpful.🤷

Forgot the output jack, but also fender offers other loaded pickguards with different pickup and color options. Though you might end up switching out for an obsidian kit anyway, I've tried the texas special, custom shop 69, and shawbucker loaded pickguards and one hickup I've come across is that the Gen 4 Noiseless pickups in the shawbucker set don't fit in my 2005 deluxe body (they kind of do but the screws stick out and you can't set the pickups low)

I spent so many time (mostly for killing time) on Fender MOD Shop page😅 Usually end up with 70's style large head stocks. I don't know why they don't offer 70's style three bolt neck joint options. Sad. If they'd give more options like Hot Noiseless pickups, Sienna sunburst with ash body or Cobra blue finish (which I have on my Ultra strat) or bindings with Telecasters, I definitely would order one already. Maybe I'd rather order a custom shop for dream Strat/Tele.

As I’ve learned how electric guitars work I’ve come to realize that anyone with a high school carpentry and geometry education is fully qualified to build one. Knowing that it absolutely blows my mind that anyone would spend as much as, or more than $5000 for an electric guitar. If you don’t want to build your own and you want the nicest guitar possible find a local luthier to build exactly what you want and save thousands by not having that name brand sticker on the headstock.
