As a former homeless person, I thank those who did this for him. I hope he enjoys it for a long time. Blessings to him and those who did this and their families and his too. Such sweet kindness. ❤
what a great story. All schools should have a program where students are doing something for another less fortunate individual. This experience for the students will be with them forever. Affordable housing should be a must for everyone. Mr. Henry - welcome home.
This is what the architecture department should be teaching these young students. By the students using their skills helps them to reenforce what they have learned.
Such a cool screened porch. Will beat the heat. So happy this gentleman has a beautiful home to live in. Thank you young architects at Tulane University!!
There is a lot more to this story, they had to get the plumbing, electrical, heat, permits, and then he will need things like towels, blankets, dishes etc! This would make a great movie! Love to everyone involved here!
There are like, millions of homeless people out there right now that are DESPERATE for a tiny house, and this should be an example why we need to find in our hearts to help them get back on their feet and off the streets!
If we all did something to give back, what a wonderful country we would have... I ran our church food pantry for 16 and serve meals to the homeless for 18 years...
im sitting here at home watching this myself, as a person in my senior years, and never had a home of my own, but this gives me hope that, god still has a few good people out there, im crying, because this has brought tears to my eyes , my god bless those college students for what they did. their heavenly reward awaits them. GOOD STORY.
Just thrilled that the Tulane students were able to provide this wonderful tiny home for a homeless person. My only concern is who’s going to help him get furniture, pay for the electricity and water, and surely there will be some taxes involved too. Wish we knew more.
How wonderful!! Now I hope he gets some furniture and appliances for his new home also. He will not have to fear the many dangers of living on the streets again.
Beautiful story. Can we normalize college projects to always leave tangible results like this? Students are already doing a lot of work. Would love to see projects tackling Superfund sites and restoring denuded land.
Congrats to Mr. Benjamin Henry! May he love and cherish his forever home. I hope he had some huge help in furnishing it too. I also like that it’s in the 9th ward. So fantastic for these students. I hope that whenever they get their dream jobs, that for every 10th job they complete (at least), they do something like this to give back to the community. They’ve already started down that road with this great project. Thanks, Tulane University. You are doing something great right.
Beautiful!! Why isn’t this on MSM all over the world?!! I know there are stories like this from all over and why can’t we share the stories to remind us that we are more good than not!! ❤
🥹 Congratulations Mr. Henry, I pray you have nothing but peace and happiness in your new home. ♥️ God Bless the students whose sweat and energy built this home and thank you. ✨️♥️
Loved this piece so much. Here on the west coast we have THOW's (tiny house on wheels) groups who live in modern THOW's who are now building THOW's for homeless veterans.🙂 And yes, they are affordable and yes, they help build community.🙂
He is old enough for a SS check and maybe now that he is established he can get a job. I'm sure this man knows how to make money and has worked hard to survive these past 20 years... He'll be fine...
My town in northern California created a tiny home village with state funds and got almost every single homeless person housed. It works. Our country can solve this problem state by state and tiny homes and abandoned motel renovations are key to this. California is by no means perfect and has shameful problems accounting for the funds it allocates for homelessness but it is doing at least SOMETHING and that something is working in many counties. Now we need to tackle LA and San Francisco.
I don't usually watch CNN, however, what a story!!!!! What a wonderful way for these students to learn that we are meant to help each other. In this life, there is no greater gift to give ourselves. To each of those students: DO something good with your life!!! You are our hope!!!! Thank you for showing our greater angels!!!
Awesome young people. Humanity is so random. On one hand, you have a group of doers, creating things for others. On the other hand, you have a person who could be a doer (get a job and make money) but can't. I find this fascinating.
You don’t know what his situation was about why he didn’t work. It is hard for homeless to get a job with no address. That is rude of you to judge him.
Fabulous project! And it would be nice to see apartment buildings built for the homeless. It would help more people at one time & may help prevent the loneliness they sometimes feel when living alone. I know the money is out there.
Well, we can go to the Ukraine and see if they'll give some $$$$ back?? LOL Biden just increased the USA's homeless population by millions with the open border...
How many tiny homes could be built with just a tiny fraction of what the gov't spends on any of a number of over the top programs that we can live without?
This is so awesome if we were all to come together like that we can build so many homes for homeless and they will recover because they would feel loved🙏🏻🙏🏻

This is such a great idea. He gentleman gets a home and the architecture students get to see how construction really works. ❤

Community service is a required part of a Tulane education. This a great example of the lengths a school curriculum requirement can go. Roll Wave!
Should be a reality for all,a safe space
There's absolutely no reason anyone should be living on the street. Especially the elderly, veterans and disabled.
