I just want to say a disclaimer that mom and I understand that Christian was raped when he had sex with Maja when he was drugged. I'm saying this, because we ended up laughing at the part where one of the women pushes Christian into Maja. The whole scene was kind of uncomfortable to watch as mom and daughter, so we ended up laughing because it was so awkward. We were not laughing at Christian, but more so at the awkwardness of the whole thing. I just want to clarify that, because I don't want anyone getting mad at us for laughing at that particular scene. no need to apologize, I and most of my theater awkward laughed as well.
Weird times that we need these disclaimers for being human, eh?
BTW, I love your attentive reactions - you catch almost every interesting detail about these movies! A director's dream audience.
The original "The Wicker Man" (1973) is better.
Don't worry! Nothing to apologize for. It is pretty funny! Great reaction and discussion after.
I completely understand, Nova, as I found myself having nervous laughter throughout my WTF movie scene moments...
I also watched this movie with my mom too and it was so uncomfortable lol.
Also i highly recommend watching Goodnight mommy and The Lodge.
Omg yes!
You guys are coming in clutch with these uploads thank you !! For last couple horror movie option you guys asked for I'd say "The Shining" and "Doctor Sleep"
That sacrifices involving outsiders takes place every 90 years. It's a rare occurrence.
It's suggested that the bear thing at the end is what happens every 90 years and that the rest is yearly. Pelle mentions his parents died in a fire, that was a big hint.
@@DrGregoryHouseIT The entire event lead up to the end though. The last scene is not an island unto itself. All the victims throughout the movie were used in that ceremony. I think Interpol would have caught these guys by now if every year people are disappearing in Sweden during Midsommar. These people have to be telling someone else where they're going; Family, friends, employers, etc. Eventually a pattern would be noticed. A travel advisory is going to be made. Somebody planning one of these trips is going to see the advisory and perhaps be asked to wear a tracker. I can't see them getting away with this annually for all these years.
@@DrGregoryHouseIT No, it's only the elders jumping from the cliff that is a recurring event as part of the annual cycle; the sacrifice of the outsiders and the burning of the temple is every 90th year.
@@DrGregoryHouseIT
"Pelle mentions his parents died in a fire, that was a big hint."
Are you claiming his parents died in the fire 90 years ago...?
@@crescendyr8438 tho i agree with you that the event is every 90 years, an argument to this could be that they use people within the cult to sacrifice when is yearly and only 90 years they bring people from outside
lmao you guys are adorable. I wish I had this good of a relationship with my own mother.
This film is *really* good at masking abuse. It gaslights you into picking sides and its all the better for it.
please watch Parasite and The Shining. I mean both are one of the greatest films of all time, I mean at least for me.
Parasite. Agree. Great movie. And so very intense. It deserved its best picture win.
Parasite was great! (I think Avengers Endgame was the same year, so it wasn’t my favorite of the year)
The director said that its more like a break up movie!
Omg you two should watch “mother!” its a really good movie.
Don't suggest that. What's wrong with you😂
@@jasonvoorhees310 why😳 i love that movie
@@suhbrly they eat a fuckin baby
It wasn't Ruben wearing Mark's face, it was the guy who screamed at him for pissing on the sacred tree.
Ruben was lying on the bed on the far left of the shot where Josh was looking at who he thought was Mark.
At 12:18 - I see where the confusion is. They DO the May Pole dance every single year. They do the Attastupa (killing the 72-year-olds) every single year. But they do the whole "let's sacrifice 9 humans, four outsiders, four Harga, and one outsider or Harga to be chosen by the May Queen" once every 90 years. Sif says it at the start - it was 90 years since the last one, and it will be another 90 years for the next one.
There is a lot of death going on in this murderous cult, but let's not assume that they kill willy-nilly every single year. This thing with the bear and the 9 human sacrifices is once every 90 years.
Another fun reaction. These horror movie reactions are bringing out some very funny moments between you two. It’s fun to watch. Horror can be fun! I’m glad you’re enjoying these films. Much love.
Also I would recommend the Suspiria remake, but it's also really creepy and awkward to watch with your parents.
I watched it on cinema and up to a point it made me feel so anxious cause I didn't know what could happen. It uses the suspense and tension so well
At 20:15 - Christian wanted to break up at the beginning... In the director's cut, Christian and Dani have an argument where it is clear that Christian broke up with her. In Harga. After the Attestupa, but before Josh tries to take pictures. Before Dani goes off to dance around the May Pole, she is quite a bit devastated, but she is being "held" by the ladies who love her.
The director's cut also fleshes out the conflict between Josh and Christian, with Josh studying the runes most likely to be used in Hargaland.
We just celebrated Midsommar here in Denmark, I swear it is not like in the movie 😔
You would say that wouldn't you?
Totally like the movie!😲 Hahaha no jk😌
@@crescendyr8438 Hahaha
I wanna go
I like your take! Very cool commentary.
At 21:58 - Connie was never going to be the May Queen. That was Dani, from jump street.
It had nothing to do with Ingmar's failed relationship with her, and it had everything to do with their coloring. Simon and Connie aren't as dark-skinned as Josh, but they were selected to die. The whole "devil" is called "the Dark One." It is clear that racism is a serious thing in the director's cut, when Josh has a book that says "Runes favored by Nazi-like..." I don't remember the title, but the Nazi thing was hard to miss.
At the start of the feast, Sif screams in Swedish, "Spirits, back to the dead!" It is clear that everyone Pelle and Ingmar brought were going to die, except for Dani, who was their chosen May Queen. Pelle gets to wear the green crown as a reward for being so "clear sighted" in choosing the girl to be the May Queen.
Your horror reactions are my favourite content from you!
Loved how on top of things you two were on this one, nothing got past Nova! :D
I truly don't know how your mom was so casual during the sacrificing scene, it's the only scene I've closed my eyes at in a while and I'm pretty hardened to gore.
Thank you for your reaction, I really enjoyed it!
I imagine some of the festivities happen annually and others every 90 years. The ritual suicide at 72 for sure would have to be a regular event, plus they specifically referenced “last year’s May Queen” Maybe the burning alive human sacrifices part not so much? 🤷♀️
Hereditary is the scariest movie ever made. If you haven't been scared yet, its not gonna happen.
I know what part your laughing at cause I laughed when the lady got behind him and "Helped" him out..lol
Notice how Christians glass is pinkish? She gave him her menstrual blood too.
Did you say you watched the ritual? You should watch it as well
If you wanna get spooked you gotta turn off the lights when you watch a horror movie.
But then we wouldn’t be able to see their faces, that takes away the whole point of a reaction 😂
@@cinemaclips6074 night vision bruh
@@jadeandjesse5908
Oh sure let me just turn on night vision in my RUclips settings 🤦♂️
8:16 Well they definitely got a perfect fool this year
my take on this movie
"Dwight Shrute in the wicker man"
I rewatched this movie the other night lol
i think the guy blood eagled was still alive, the lungs were expanding and contracting.
Awesome movie. I've seen it twice. I've seen Hereditary four times. Ari Aster is an amazing director and I'm really looking forward to whatever he does next.
10:56 I think she knew he had a good chance of being the final sacrifice so since he was chosen for breeding purposes she's like 'Come on, we've got one shot at this'
10:47 Wow the edition i love it
I recommend watching Detroit. Detroit starts both Jack Reynor, who played Christian and Will Poulter, the actor that played Mark. Great movie!
MOTHER! By Arronofsky for the NEXT REACTION PLEASEE
Heya, I'm Mathias from Sweden. Do you wanna come visit this summer? ^^
could you two react to We Have Always Lived in the Castle?
Do the conjuring
If you are thinking of starting another tv series i suggest lucifer as it is a really fun show
One suggestion, the movie Signs, it's one great suspense.
gotta love Ari Aster for bringing a new concept to the terror category
letting aside the tipical jumpscares
React to American Psycho
A cult classic horror slasher film
Oscar-worthy performance by Christian Bale
Let's be honest; this movie is a more than a little uncomfortable to watch. Period.
React to Sinister ✌
10:47 What is this face?
This movie was absolutely wild!! I remember watching it in theaters & during that insane sexual scene many people were like WOW & getting a good laugh. I honestly think that crazy lady was pushing Christian from behind because he was taking too long. She was like, damn hurry up!😂
So great! And it was technically a happy ending, cause Dani finally got rid of Christian & felt more free😁
I recommend watching the movie Ready, or not. Next week! Definitely a fun horror movie about another insane family.
yeah I loved seeing the movie in theaters, but hearing everyone laugh through a straight up rape scene was super uncomfortable. I know there was some WTF humor in that scene, but the theater I saw it in enjoyed it a bit too much.
Dani is insane at the end, she's way, WAY less free than before.
@@DrGregoryHouseIT thanks, the "happy" ending is such a cold take on this movie
no, don't watch this movie with anyone especially your mother
"I feel bad for him."
Yeah, I didn't. Heh. Killing him is, of course, a bit much, but he was a piece of shit. ;)
This movie reminds me of the original Wicker Man where you empathize with cult members. You are kind of happy for her finally finding stability and family.
Anyway, great movie.
I had an argument one time with a girl who said Christian did it willingly so it wasn't rape. I told her he was drugged during the whole process to the point of not even being able to move at the table. But she came with the argument that he willingly drank the drug, and I was like, how is he supposed to reject it? He was pressured to say yes. If he didn't accept the drug one way or another they would make him consume it lol.
Made me a little mad cause she was basically justifying the rape and twisting the situation.
Slap her
I could analyze why you are wrong, but there's no need because the director himself said that he was NOT raped.
Honestly I didn’t feel bad for the bf. Or the guy who pee’d on the tree of knowledge. Psychedelics can be very self empowering.
@Peter Mercado huh?
i'm so happy i only skimmed over this movie, definitely an unnecessary length ... or maybe it just felt that way lol ;o|
Yes it probably did
Watch the shining and then the directors cut to doctor sleep
