I’m a driver (not for that company) that bus line unfortunately collects cash and they have to count it. NJ transit is a horrible place to work for all they care about is money and speed. They penalize drivers if they don’t make it to there destination on time even in traffic... but the cell phone that’s on the driver he was definitely wrong.
Nothing is wrong about a bus driver eating a snack or sipping a cup of coffee while driving. But that phone in his hands while driving, especially with passengers on the bus; that's automatically termination

Also on Academy buses I saw an afroamerican driver, cheating on collenting money from passangers, people without not ticket pay cash, his name was Carmelo. He collected the money put on large envelope if six passangers Board the bus at certain stop, he will write Three. So he will kept the money he likes
He's not counting personal funds, but company funds collected during the course of the trip! NJT commuter lines operate as full service lines meaning the driver collects tickets or cash that is given directly to the driver and not placed in the farebox! The y must cdrive, collect cash, print a receipt, and maintain the schedule! Imagine you as a passenger watching the driver stop at every bus stop and make change while stopped! You'd spend more then half the time sitting around! That's not feasible when off to work! The driver will save time by separating the funds on the go! Remember they are accountable for what may be hundreds of dollars in cash that will be taken out of their paycheck if short! Don't critique if you don't know the full story! He also did it in a protected travel lane at low speed!

The agents who pick up the train tickets are the WORST to lazy to check passanger safety. People has lost their lives at Bradley Beach, NJ because the staff was to lazy to come down from train, pasengers drago by train and lost their lives.
