An NJ Transit bus driver has some explaining to do after being filmed by a passenger counting money while attempting to steer the bus. CBS2's Marc Liverman reports
She just wants to get the driver in trouble because if she really cared about her safety she would have told the driver to keep her driving and put the money away.
yes but if you would listen to what she said, she was concerned for the safety of the people on board. if a argument between the driver of the bus and a passanger happened, that would DEFINITELY distract the driver and be even worse for the situation.
If she was so scared she would have said something to right then! She just wanted to cause problems. I have a lot of friends and family members that drive for NJ Transit. Riding on the bus you have no idea what the driver has to deal with on a daily basis, and the amount of crap they have to put up with just to get you where you're going! MOST DRIVERS DON'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO TAKE A BATHROOM BREAK IN ORDER TO PICK YOU UP/DROP YOU OFF ON TIME! He wasn't texting/talking on his phone, he wasn't listening to music ignoring people, he wasn't drunk... he was counting his money. He was probably already running late from dealing with someone on the bus, and trying to make up time to drop off on time... cuz if people don't get there on time they get upset. What they don't know is that NJ Transit doesn't even schedule enough time for most buses to get from start to finish on time. They runs are made by people who sit in an office somewhere that have never drove or rode on a bus in their life, basing times off map quest estimates. So before you judge the drives, maybe think about all the crap they deal with day in and out just to get you where you need to go. So I hope you enjoy getting dropped off late every day now, while that drive stops to spends 2-3 minutes at every pick up to count his money like he is supposed to instead. You better not get upset when you are LATE and get fired cuz you should take an earlier bus next time. Oh wait, I have a geat idea... if you don't like it "GET A CAR AND DRIVE YOURSELF!" otherwise leave the drives alone until you have a CDL and have driven a bus also!
The problem is is cars are going around you that means you're not driving safely areconditions around you I get it you're trying to make that clock I totally get that in their respect that trying to hustle well hustle time anyway problem is if some idiot jumps out in front of the bus and he drops his money and leans over you're not going to make a clock you're going to get your clock cleaned that's what happens is it worth it for a couple of dollars I mean this lady's a Snoopy what you going to do work through your union demand representation even if you're in the wrong you have that right

I'm a bus driver in Toledo Ohio 20 yrs.and let me tell you it is the most stressful job if I had to go back in time I never would have made this choice

Also if he did stop to count his money then she would be crying that she was late instead. As for the cars going around him like someone said, they have to stay in a specific lane, and they have to go a specific speed limit. I see cars pass buses all the time because the bus is going the speed limit. At least 8/10 probably closer to 9/10 bus accidents there is nothing the Bus Driver could have done to prevent the accident. If people are really so worried about this they should go get a CDL and drive a bus instead. I promise you will never be the same again, and you would stick up for this driver in less then a month.
This is not a real issue. She just sounds really entitled. 5 minutes is nothing I spend more time yelling at my kids to be quiet than that. The bus never swerved. He wasn't tail- gating really a non issue.
That’s all it takes 5 minutes to take your eyes off the road to cause an action remember it’s not just the driver alone that’s on the bus it’s passengers too, so their safety is just as important. The lady was right in what she did.

Of course counting cash as a bus driver is a necessary action sometimes but NOT while driving a bus, especially if any passengers are onboard. Driving a motor vehicle means when driving to have your eyes and ears focused on the road at ALL TIMES! That driver should’ve just waited till layover when not moving to count the cash, and that needs to go for literally ANY driver.

They are in a hurry so they drives fast do not give you time to sit. The Bus Driver should have been behind the Train Rail that comes down when a Train is Coming.

When you are driving a public service bus, you are supposed to be paying attention to the road ahead of you. There are transit centers where the bus can pull into in order to stop for a break and count cash. This is not the thing to be making jokes about.
How many of you have driven a bus? Whether its counting money, talking or texting, you are distracted while operating a 40ft, 50,000 lb vehicle with passengers and other motorists around you. Anything could happen in a blink of an eye. He has no reaction time for anything. Poor judgement. This is how people die. You cant seriously be defending this driver.
