I'm on a fixed income and up until 2020 I could eat out once a day, so I did. Soon after Biden took office everything that I need went up 25-50% and I can no longer afford to buy food anywhere but a supermarket. So that is why I don't go to any of the stores and restaurants I used to frequent. Even coffee is a rare purchase for me
I honestly think some of the more food based places are also suffering because with these stations getting older and increasingly grosser people just don’t want to stop and eat in an environment like that. People just want to get in and find and get on their train as soon as possible. Once people get to a station theres just one frame of mind. I’d also visit the Design District in Dallas and the AIGADFW- and Bishop Arts and see how they organize those districts and try some of those configurations on forming arts not for profits.
Want them to succeed? Offer flexible lease terms that encourage new, local, small-scale businesses to take a chance... Being a greedy bureaucracy does nothing to help fill the spaces or foster a sense of safety... If not, offer them to local non-profits for free and let them do some good...
