    Hi Grace. I laughed hysterically when you were referring to your husband and said (probably under your breath) "What do you know about crafting?" You are such a stitch. I just love watching you. I have Clover pompom makers myself, and I can guarantee I'll be using this method for my pompoms. My husband has black zip ties all over the basement and garage, so I know I don't even need to go shopping for them. I want to say also that not only did I learn how to make a tighter pompom, but the tip about holding two strands of different colored yarns together to make a pompom is brilliant; and then your entertainment factor added in is always a plus when you struggle with something or something isn't working just right because you are on camera and wish for it to. That's just life and it happens to all of us, but I love that you can laugh and joke about it with us. Have a great rest-of-your week and a wonderful weekend, dear friend.

      Hi Cindy!!! I am so glad you got a good laugh, because laughter really is the best medicine, even when you burn yourself - LOL!!! I have to admit, that he did have a brilliant idea with this one, even if he can't craft - haha!! I couldn't even think of the word zip tie, because my husband calls them tie straps ALL THE TIME!! He is corrupting my use of the English language - argh!! I think teaching school helped me to learn to laugh at myself, because you never knew what was going to happen in front of the kids, so might as well laugh!! The kids and I have had some great laughs at my expense :-D Hope you have a fabulous end-of-week and weekend too, my sweet friend! xxx

    Hurray, at last a tutorial that acknowledges pom poms pull apart!🤣 I realise that I not only don't wrap fat enough, I don't tie enough. But the tie idea is fabulous, I will check Amazon out, I'm in UK and we don't have Dollar Tree. I love the Clover pom pom makers, but have been very frustrated at the falling apart!
    Great tutorial Grace, love that name story, and all the klutz, as I do the very same! 😍🤣

    • @gbmaltese
      @gbmaltese  Год назад

      Hi Elizabeth!!! I was going crazy with my pom poms falling apart LOL!!! There is no way to tie those fat ones tight enough, so the zip ties cinch it down nice and tight. If the pom poms aren't too big, using cotton crochet thread works pretty good, but you really have to pull it tight.
      Thank you for your kind words!! I'm glad I'm not the only klutz around here LOL.

    Thank you so much, Grace!!! I've just started making pom poms with the Clover pom pom makers, and the first few were fine, but I noticed when I started making the bigger ones, they would pull apart. Your video has been the best informative (and funny) LOL I've seen out of many!!! Thanks for the tutorial. Came here after watching your twiddle muff videos.
    Just wondering if you can feel the zip tie after the pompom is finished? If you use them in pompom rugs would it feel like stepping on hard bits of plastic?

    • @gbmaltese
      @gbmaltese  5 лет назад +2

      Excellent question!! If I was making a pompom rug, I would make sure that the square plastic piece is facing down - that way you shouldn't be able to feel the plastic. With the medium-sized and large pompoms, there should be enough cushion so you don't feel the plastic at all. When I squeeze the pompoms, I can't feel the plastic. You might want to try making a couple of pompoms first, then squeeze them and step on them, to see if they are comfortable. Thanks for commenting with your question!! Have a great weekend!

    I made a toy the other day made a Pom Pom for the tail...and as I was attaching it I accidentally pulled some of the yarn and it just pulled out ... that’s not right I thought lol so pulled another bit of yarn and sure enough it to pulled out
    So this was the first time I had ever noticed that you could just pull the strands of yarn out ... no good for little hands... so went in search to find help and came across you great video thank you so much for sharing

    Love that you show how you are a normal person that does have issues from time to time. Most of the videos I see the people do everything so perfect so quickly to the point I feel I won't be able to do it, so I don't even try. But you make me feel comfortable with attempting this because I have several options to make the poms, especially with items I (by I, I mean taking my husband's zip ties lol) already have at home. Thank you,!

    The tie - straps are good for hanging pom poms. But, i think it would be better if you used the yarn to tie them with when you make a pom pom rug or anything you wear. It's useful to know a way to tie them where they don't come apart, though. That's specially helpful when you have to wash a pom pom craft such as rugs. TYSM for sharing your techniques and knowledge with us. Love your channel. Hope you're still making videos for us. 😊😊

    I enjoyed this so much. I wanted to make a few pompoms to dangle on a crochet bag I made for my Great Grandaughter (aged 2.1/2). First, I had no idea there was such a thing as a pompom maker nor can I imagine how many PP you could need. Nex't: The ziptie trick is very good. The other is this , you appear to be using dressmaking scissors to cut everything. As a dressmaker it was drummed into me not to use them for anything else, not paper, wool, etc. because it takes the edge off for the fine cutting of dressmaking fabric. Saying that I loved watching you create.

      Your GrIeat Granddaughter would be thrilled with a purse like that!! PomPom makers are awesome, and you can make all colors and varieties with them.
      I don't sew or cut material, so I didn't even know these were dressmaking scissors - I learned something new!! I just like big scissors when I'm doing certain projects - thanks for letting me know!! Have a great day!

      gbmaltese The pom pom mystery has been solved by no other than Grace!
      Can you suggest a starter for diamond painting my friend. Where do you live? Where did you find those huge scissors? You could cut off a finger with those babies!

    • @gbmaltese
      @gbmaltese  6 лет назад +1

      I live in southeast Texas. I think I bought those scissors at Walmart, but I can't swear to it - so far, all digits are still accounted for - LOL!! I would suggest a diamond painting using round diamonds ( called drills) with a simple pattern. I started with a partial painting for my first one - the tree I showed - that means the whole canvas isn't covered in drills (diamonds). Here is a link to the tree I did - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HEPJ5WW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      The blue bird I did was easy also and here it is - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078PN7WZ3/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      Those are both from Amazon. I also order from AliExpress, but it takes much longer to get those paintings, as they come from China. I do like to order from there too. Hope this helps :) -Grace

      It is hard to find zip ties in all the colors I want, but I keep looking. Also, once the pompom is finished, you really can't see the zip tie any longer. I use the crochet thread for really small pom poms, but normally, I make the larger ones, so the zip ties are great for keeping them together. I am on the lookout for the "perfect" zip tie :)
