I do in fact believe that Brook has the most tragic back story. While sure you can't really quantify despair, this dude had to see how all of his friends died in a bittersweet moment, only to come back to life and sail the florian triangle for 50 years alone and lonely with the rotting corpses of his friends, always being remembered that they are gone forever, with the additional burden that he won't be able to fulfill the promise to the single friend that is still alive

The tattoo on Dragon's face, has the same pattern as the band he was wearing on his thigh in the flashback. I would argue that with the straw hats, we are comparing sadness apples to oranges. Each one is unique and meaningful in its own way and shows a type of tragedy that blends so well and meaningfully together with the others. We can compare their sadness levels, DBZ style, and that discussion has value, but I prefer the romantic viewpoint of admiring the incredible drama mosaic that Oda has meticulously created for us. It is a masterpiece that continues to give, which one could argue is what makes masterpieces timeless.

After the pandemic, I have to say Brook. He saw half of his crew mates get sick with an unknown, presumable incurable deadly disease and watched the other half die. Then he was forced to spend decades isolated from the rest of the world. And this was before his shadow was stolen and he became unable to go out into the sunlight. After being on lockdown for just a few months, I was going insane with loneliness and I wasn't even living alone at the time. I rewatched One Piece shortly after most restrictions had been lifted and I cried my eyes out at his backstory. It's just so hard not to feel devasted at what Brook went through, especially since we can all relate in someway to what he experienced after living through 2020.

The dude spent more than double most of the people in this comment sections life times sitting on a ship with the corpses of his best friends reliving the moments he spent with them just to be forced back into reality again. He was forced to find the humour in the most mundane tasks in order to laugh so he could ease the pain and only went on living so that he could play a song for Laboon one more time. He wanted people to forget him for being a murderer, while in reality he paid his debt and had long been forgotten. Then, he would turn into a toy and his wife would die in his hands; Scarlet had forgotten him, he wasn't feeling her due to his hands being made of plastic and she suffered a tragic death, feeling alone and only praying for her daughter.
And afterwards, he would proceed to raise his daughter without him knowing who he truly is, without her having a single memory of his time when he was a human. And that happened for quite a while, with him being one of the few people who believed in the rebellion against Doflamingo

Elbaf is set to be an Usopp arc, being Loki "the trickster god" the ruler of Elbaf, I can see Usopp being the one or at least the key to take down Loki, which would earn him the respect and admiration of all giants and making him believe himself to be a brave warrior

I find Nami’s backstory to be the saddest… watching someone kill her mother, then becoming that person’s slave, having too see them every day and put on a fake personality just so that he won’t kill the rest of her friends and family. It’s really screwed up the more you think about it.
She was forced to become the thing she hated most, “Pirates” just to have a chance to save her town. She wasn’t even free to be her true self, and thought everyone in the town that she was trying to save hated her for it.
I also adore Nami, so it could be a lot of bias that makes me feel this way lol.

Robin has the saddest imo, because she dealt with the destruction of her hometown as a child. Added later by her almost continuous betrayal by other people which messed her up so badly that she doubted the strawhats loyalty.
Brooks is close second as isolation of 50 years must’ve be traumatic as fuck, but I don’t recall them having like lasting damage of his mental state or something, which is mainly due to brooks age when dealing with the trauma and as a more comic relief character without a direct solo arc

8:28 An additional point; Brook travelled the world as an artist named "Soul King" and looked like a skeleton. Nobody who knew him would recognise him as their Brook. Additionally, only after the time-skip does Brook have his Soul King-wanted poster. So the only time anyone of his former crew would know he'd be alive would be *after* the time-skip. When everything is done, I would not be surprised if his former captain was waiting for him with Laboon - there also was a cover with Laboon, Crocus and someone with their back turned to us who we haven't been able to identify: It's likely him.

1:24 i don't know i think sonic the hedgehog would probably want a word with dragon about that,(even if they likely aren't coming back any time soon but still.)with egghead possibly being franky's arc does make me think of art i saw of him stealing eggman's egg mobile(also him sharing the same birthday as his game actor mike pollok.).
really interested in alongside likely being usopp's arc it'll possibly give a reunion with saul for nico robin(that'd be a hilariously awesome way for him to survive just having kuzan's ice being melted by the tons of fire around it.) and him being alive doesn't ruin the story compared to pell as yorky's likely still alive(nami, robin, brook, chopper & sanji are the saddest in order to me.) with the islands in the calm belt he could've ended on like amazon lily(be funny if nyon casually revealed him.).
,with loki think with the trickster god it could go the dragonball route of magic users like towa/dabura/babidi(who could've been a legit threat if instead of having the z villain idiotic arrogance he used his magic on the z fighters loved ones like he did to the tournament staff's head to get them to back off.) that challenged the z fighters without being "trying to be frieza again" and think kuma will show up with the revolutionaries(the father/daughter experience reminds me of oda making nami sexier from his wife cosplaying as her in a jump festa when they met/that image of luffy & nami celebrating oda's child.) .

This arc could very well end up being focused on both Robin AND Franky, after all the arc where we met Franky is the same as when we learned about Robin's past to begin with. It also intrigues me that Dragon had the idea to form the revolutionary army so far ahead of Luffy being born. Makes me wonder if he even planned to have children, or if his inception somehow ties in with Dragon's plans.

Great vid. Super excited to see more Dragon. I saw someone point out that the design on the bandana on his leg is pretty similar to his face tattoo. So I think there is a good indication that his face tat has to do w O'Hara. Maybe that bandana has some significance? Idk. Maybe it was Clover's or something like that? Or maybe he found it on a charred O'haran corpse? Or maybe he just had it on at the time and swore an oath on his special head/leg apparel.. Gorosei def messed up when they massacred O'Hara. That got them on Dragon's shit list. Which is no bueno

I assume the tall Vegapunk was probably Vegapunk 1 with a different, less badass outfit. It seems like the bodies Vegapunk placed his mind into are made to look like, and act like people he wanted to be like and/or fictional characters he wanted to become, Sanji family was made inspiration to a manga in the verse, so why not Vegapunk doing the same thing, but with his mind. (Well maybe not the Vegapunk for eating, sleeping, and pooping, that was probably made so he could always be working on his projects, and experiments.)

Had they not been so strong, she'd simply enslave them. They were strong enough to keep her at bay.

Here's my defence of the Vivre Cards being "inaccurate".
Assuming Oda already knows he wants to do certain changes in the future, if he tells the publishers such secrets, it'll eventually get leaked like the week early spoilers which is a shame. If only there was a Disney ironclad rule of "spill the beans and we'll be sueing you until your next life"....
Oda wants to surprise us so he obviously won't reveal some things.

Robin and Franky's stories played perfectly side by side in Water 7/Enies Lobby back in the day, what with the whole morale conundrum of if existing is a crime. Who's to say that couldn't be happening again in the current arc? Doesn't necessarily have to focus on either one of them

Brook's back story is most depressing by far, imagine watching your whole crew die in front of your eyes but have to live with their rotting corpses all around him, not truly be able to let go, wishing and imagining times with them when they are lying beside him for whole 50 years. Imagine Staying alone in darkness with no one to talk to, nothing to do, drifting aimlessly, unable to die for 50 whole years only in hopes of meeting laboon one day.

The terrain and architecture looks similar to what we've previously seen, so it could indicate that Aokiji has visited Saul on Elbaf
