    I just bought a 1996 Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible. One owner 21,000 original miles and I paid 12 K for the car. Car looks and drives like a brand new car. It’s nothing like the one you have on this video being super charged.
    I’ve been a Camaro owner my entire life and currently have a 2010 Camaro RSSS but I feel like I’ve hit the lottery buying this new Mustang. The Cobra in this video is definitely the beast.

      They are hard to find in good condition because most did not have abs or traction control. And if you are familiar with the infamous mustang meme, many of these cars ended up in the hands of newbie drivers with paper licenses. On top of that, the v6 models weren’t loved. 145 hp, they became so undervalued in such a short time that literally anything would total it. Needs four brand new tires? Totaled.

Wanted a grand for it came up with the money and it was gone a few days later. Been on the hunt for 1 since. Got 1 for my 30th birthday it was a 98 v6 auto but the body was in great shape and I was gonna swap to a v8 5sp when the v6 went well last year the motor blew a rod and was on the hunt for a motor and t5 for it. Ended up finding the exactly what I was looking for all along found a black hard top 95 gts and I love tht car. She hasn’t let me down in the year and a half I have owned her. Lots of reasons for this. Tell you a story. My friend had a Mustang SN95 1996 GT and yeah it was fast at that time ran a quarter mile at 15.4 in Palmdale we added some parts intake, headers and a Fuel pump and an Exhaust pulleys. It was a very heavy car over 3800 lbs so its not light. Well at that time he wanted me to buy a trans am so we could race together. Well My dad was not having it so i ended up buying a 1997 Honda Civic Ex and that pretty much changed everything. Once I bought that car he was dissappointed but he told me about a small magazine called TURBO and SuperSTREET and when I saw the Mods on CIVICS that was it I was hooked. With just a Intake and headers and some 50 shot of Nitrous I was able to run 14.5 and that changed his mindset and mine at the time when most people would be laughing at most Hondas at that time. He ended up selling his Mustang and gave up the racing bug. That is how it ended for him and mostly for me too. Fast forward to now and I am still into the CRXs b16B and Supras Never looked back either. They just keep getting faster and faster.

    I'm 53 and have always wanted a mustang. Life has always got in the way but recently I picked up a 96 SN95 GT. I know it's not everybody's favorite body style mine of course like many was the fox body. But I do like my SN95 I was out looking for a fox when this one kind of fell in my lap. It belonged to an elderly couple a couple blocks from my house. It was his wife's car and she passed away from cancer. Her husband knew I've been battling cancer for 2 years myself and didn't want to sell the car but we got talking one day and he said he would feel comfortable with it and he believes she would be too the car going to somebody that loved mustang and is also battling cancer. They were the only owners of the car it still has pretty low mileage considering it's almost 30 years old. It's not a Cobra but it is a GT the exterior and interior are immaculate. It was always dealer maintained and professionally detailed three times a year even though it hardly ever left the garage. It's just now hitting 70,000 mi. I took it home for $5,000 and don't feel like I got hurt at all. Even in stock form because of how clean it is I have gotten more compliments on it in a month I've owned it than any car I've ever owned. In the month I've had it I have brand new 18s, brand new exhaust, complete stereo system and the windows get tinted on Friday. It may not be the fastest but I'm no drag racer anymore it's going to be a beautiful cruiser and a great car for me to finally go to events like cars and coffee and not just be a spectator

The first thing I did to it was dropping it 1.5 inches, replaced all of the wheel bearings, bushings, etc. and putting in 1.5 inch wheel spacers in the rear. The stance is ultimately better. I have a f150 coyote in my garage right now and I'm just waiting for parts to come in. So far I have it lowered with 18inch staggered Bullitt Motorsport Rs. Love hearing how hard it was to find one I've owned 2 foxbodys and currently own a 95 gt with red interior in mint condition purchased off Craigslist in vancouver 2 years ago it was the last and only nice one listed for a good price and since purchasing there hasnt been anything nice posted on craigslist really happy I grabbed one of the last nicest cleanest rare sn95's for a good price 😎🍻

    I’ve always wanted one. 98 Cobra in Laser Red or White with black interior. Small cowl hood, ducktail spoiler, nice set of wheels, lowered with some tint. Oof. I want one. But I’m a big MN12 Thunderbird guy so that’s probably part of the reason I like these lol. Kinda similar body lines.

  • @midnight347
    @midnight347 3 года назад +3

    I think the 96-98 cobras are mean as hell when done right they look sick. The stock hood looks mean on em. Very underrated cars for making some decent power...they have a forged crank and one of the strongest aluminum blocks ever put into a mustang you can upgrade the rods and pistons and make some steam with a turbo or turbos. The b beads aren't ultimately as good as the later c heads from the mach 1 and terminator but they work pretty good with forced induction and can make some steam. Them cars are cool. The 2v cars can be build up decent too and if you run pi stuff on non pi cars it'll have like 10.5:1 compression which helps alot and those cars are also a good candidate for a coyote swap being a mod motor car makes the swap alot easier and likely cheaper. These cars look sick when done right idk why they get so much hate. Newer mustangs aren't all that stock either its not just these cars lol. Any of the models need some mods to look their best this gen is no different.

    Always liked those cars, they were "new" when I was 18, 19 years old and I couldn't afford one, let alone my parents did not want me having one and wouldn't put me on their insurance. You don't see many anymore, we have a 1997 Cobra with a similar setup that shows up at our Cars N Coffee and his Supercharger is super loud (I think he wants it that way) because I can hear him before I see him pulling up. Anyways, I ended up with a new 2004 STi stage 2 car and later with a 2013 Lexus ISF (fairly stock) which I still own and enjoy. I like the Saleen gauge pod you have there, reminds me of my ATi gauge pod I had for boost, oil pressure.

    Warning. Be careful with the claimed mileage on these cars, they had soft rubber drive gears in the speedometer cluster that failed at a very high rate when they got to be 8-10 years old or so. I have fixed many, many of these for friends/family/myself. It's an easy fix and the parts are $20. Some cars had the speedo fixed immediately and some were drive 40k miles before fixing it. Buyer Beware.

    The 2-valve in non-pi form was a pig. I sort of owned one back in the day. Still a fun car, and a good-looking cruiser though. Richard Holdener built one up to 303 n/a wheel horsepower back in the day at MMFF, which I thought was a cool build. You can also still buy the KB kit for them, and that'll take you to gen 1 coyote horsepower levels with stump-pulling torque. OR, you can do the TFS top end kit, and it'll push them to 400+ horse n/a. Good project car now, because the GTs still haven't really risen in value much.
    The Cobras, however, have already been *noticed* by the collectors, so their prices are now skyrocketing, regardless of whether it's a 5.0 or 4-valve 4.6.

    This car definitely has more miles than it is presented as having. It’s obvious from the paint and the condition of the seats alone. It was not uncommon in the 90s for people to unhook the speedometers on cars which prevented the accumulation of miles on the odometer and this is a car that had that done!
