Have you fixed the recall regarding upper intake manifold. Just wondering because I want a mystic chrome cobra. I owned a 96’ before but I had bad luck with it.
All I can say is that it could have been worse. We could have been stuck with the Probe for a Mustang. Then the Cobra would have been based on a Mazda platform. They would have been loved as much as the Mustang II. But instead of the car that saved Mustang it would have probably killed it. The SN95 sounds a little better now, doesn't it?
Not to get off subject, but the Probe could have been a nice car to add to as a Mustang if it was Rwd or Awd with the 5.0 engine 5 or 6 Spd Manual it could never replace the mustang ever, but it had potential to be a good performance model especially in Cobra or Svt and Shelby models.
Agree with you replacing the Mustang with a Probe would have been bad! But I run a 14.8 second 1/4 all day long with my 89 MX6-GT and still average 27.2 mpgs driving to work. Do I miss my 96 Mustang GT? No I don't. Worse Mustang I have owned so far.
@@camaro3gen what was wrong with your 96 gt? They have some decent potential even on a budget. Ported pi heads and intake and aftermarket cams you can make 300+ rwhp in a 96-98 gt pretty easily. You will make more power with those than an actual pi motor because using pi top end with npi bottom raises compression up a whole point to like 10.5:1. Not bad power for such simple mods on a 281 cube engine from over 25 years ago.
I always thought the 96-98 cobras looked awesome when lowered on the stock wheels. Add 4:10s and a centrifugal blower, and they were a pretty sweet ride.

HONESTLY I BOUGHT A NEW 97 COBRA AND WITH JUST 2 THOUSAND MILES ON THE CAR AND I MISSED ONE SHIFT AND THE MOTOR EXPLODED.LOL I HONESTLY RATHER HAVE A 94 95 COBRA LOL I KNOW IT'S ONLY 240HP VS MY 97 AT 305HP.BOTTOM LINE THE 96 TO 98 COBRAS HAD A VERY WEAK SET OF RODS LOL THEY COULD BARELY MAKE 400 WHEEL AND MUCH MORE THAN THAT YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS. The 2v has just as much power and torque stock as the old 5 liter and has just as much potential modded. People just talk shit and don't know wtf they're talking about. People didn't like them in 1996 because the aftermarket was crap. That isn't the case today. I swear I think some don't like them just because it's a 4.6 and not a "5.0" so it don't sound cool rolling off the tongue. People will claim other reasons for disliking them but I believe that subconsciously has alot to do with it. The 2v sounds every bit as good as the pushrod if not better as do the rest of the mod motors.
I had a 1995 GT with 215 hp and that thing wouldn't break the tires at all. With the EOD, it was a joke. I threw headers, high flow cats, 3:55, pulleys and a shift kit. My 2007 Ford Fusion has 221 hp and is faster.
I would argue that theyre coming back, and frankly? I think looks wise they were ahead of their time and, look very nice on the road among modern sport coupes.
@@scottroe1087 they're unique and they don't look bad but they Def don't look mustang. The 96-98 looks more like traditional mustang taillights. The 94 looks like fox cheese graters reborn lol.
I always loved the 96-98 Cobras. Those cars were brand new when I was in High School, and a chrome yellow ‘98 cobra very was my “dream car” at the time. I later bought a 2003 GT new and loved that car. I love my Foxbody, but I really wouldn’t mind parking a clean SN95 cobra next to it.
That's my favorite generation, I had a sn95 with a 347 Dart block AFR 225 heads and a Paxton centrifugal and a TKO600 putting down 798 to the wheels with ease. Also had AC. Very light on the timing and low boost on E and I drove it almost every day. I miss that car so much.
@@P71ScrewHead I crashed it, DUI like a moron, the only thing left salvageable was the engine and tranny mostly, even the MegaSquirt was destroyed. I sold the engine and trans everything else went to the scrap yard a long time ago unfortunately. Man bringing back good memories.
I can not tell you how happy I am to see you guys work on the SN95 I myself own 2 SN95 one 1994 cobra convert to Saleen clone and a 1997 GT convertible. Thanks for showing some love for the SN95 hope to see it back in the future. Continue with your amazing work 👍🏼👌🏼🙏🏼
I used to have a 98 cobra, it was a torqueless wonder down low but I loved that car…It’s my favorite body style to this day…This one here has the 96-98 hood with the 94-95 spoiler, that’s the best of both worlds, the side scoops have to come off though…
They make all of their torque from 2,500-5,000 RPM actually, peaking over 300ftlbs stock.. any small block is going to need steeper gearing to get into the power-band faster
I guess a lot has to do when you were growing up on the model run you like. I got out of cars right when the foxs came in, and reentered the Mustang world 2 years ago. I just remember being blown away when the 94 SN95s came out, they were sleek and sporty looking, not the boxy "fairmont" look of the foxs. I do watch the fox channels as you guys do the cool engine stuff, that is hard to find on the SN95s sites, especially for the 94-95 pushrod models. So it goes back and forth on model favorites, in the end they are all Mustangs!
Had 94,95 and still have the teal 93. Love the pushrod N95. Great cars that are now coming into popularity, especially with Yote swaps. God bless Fellas, hope all is well💪🏼🇺🇸
@@wellthatdidntwork I was incredibly lucky. It was just sitting in a storage unit for 15 years. I really wanted a black one but couldn't pass up this white one for so cheap.

@@robertelee6712 that sounds like a good idea if u really cant stand the white. I wouldnt paint it either! Cant believe u found that. Absolutely amazing. Kudos to you sir and im glad it went to someone that obviously knows what they have and wants to keep it in great shape
I've owned 5-6 Fox and used to think the 5.0 with exhaust was the best sounding car ever. Then I got a 96 Cobra and it changed my mind. Those cars sound like a cross between a 5.0 and a Formula 1 car, and the high redline is a lot of fun.
I had a 97. It was a fun car, but became especially fun with gears. I went with 4.10s but many owners went with more. It had a few other bolt ons which dropped about a second from the quarter mile. I love these Cobras. The GTs look really meh to me.
4.30 if supercharged and 4.56 na. I had a 97 with 4.10 I thought it was gonna be too short because "they" told me on the internet it would be. After I was kicking myself for not going 456.
1994-1998 is my favorite Late Model body style. I like the fact that it came with a pushrod engine for the 94-95 models. Expect to spend a lot to make it fast. You’ve got to love it to build it.
Owned Fox bodies before SN's and feel the SN's have much more personality than Fox bodies. Always felt you needed to wash an SN95 to truly appreciate the design. Plus, Fox bodies had hardly any Mustang styling heritage. Bringing back classic Mustang styling queues was a big part of the SN95 design mission.
A guy that used to frequent the same speed shop as me back in the early 2000s had a 96 mystic cobra. It was full bolt on, some weight reduction, 4.56 gears, big and little weld pro stars and slicks and it would run 12.40s all day.
This! The 96-98 cobra could move with minimal mods with the right driver behind the wheel. They're super underrated. They're also underrated for big power builds as well.
I own a 96 gt mod motor and i love that car. I met my wife in it and ive had absolutely no problems whatsoever since i bought it. Its a full bolt on car with gears. Just pulled the engine and trans which is still in great shape with a pro 5.0 shifter still attached. Looking to sell that combo and im gonna fully build the car to get back into my number 1 passion of drag racing. Will still be considered a street car but with all the good street car parts.
I’ve never been able to get into a sn95. My sister had one and I drove it a few times but it never excited me. Besides the 65 and 69 sport roof, the new edge and 13-14 have been the ones I’ve liked. And the 86 gt ttop I sold.
@@skarhead7597 I never drove one. I’ve driven a 95 cobra but it’s just something about the sn95 . It just doesn’t click with me. But the fox and the mustang II use to be the same with me.
@@andymartin4747 try a 98 cobra with bolt ons, a sticky tire and 4.56 gears out back. It will change your life and your opinion on sn95s. They're very similar to new edge especially in the interior even the body shape is similar not sure why you think the new edge is so great and these arent?
I had a 96’ convertible cobra when it first came out, it was one of the quickest cars on the street at the time, I beat alot of cars that people thought was faster
I beat alot of cars in my old bolt on 4.10 geared 97 that were supposed to be quicker. I got the driver mod and I imagine you probably do too. It matters alot on a stick car ecsp these gutless down low top end monster b head motors. A set of gears, drag radials and a good driver and these things were much quicker than people gave them credit for.
I picked up a 96 Gt a couple of years ago and It has been very fun modding it and cruising it. Going to address the lack of power this month with some stage 3 cnc ported pi heads and cams. Just wanted to keep it all motor for awhile and cruise it. These are getting tough to find in good condition as they just didn't have a lot of love. Good foundation though for a project whichever way you want to take it.
Make sure u get the pi intake with the aluminum coolant crossover also. Good mods for this year car. U will have more hp than the actual pi cars because the 2v 4.6 comes with more compression. Do the head and cam swap correctly and you will be ready for boost should you choose to want a turbo or supercharger
@@wellthatdidntwork I have a new Ford performance pi intake for it. These heads are from MHS and I got the stage 2.5 cams from them also already installed and they are degreed as well. I was a teenager when the foxes were out and always loved them. Still do. I've had a 98 gt and have an 03 gt now. I love the sn95/new edge. Personally I think the worst ones were 74-78. Never liked them, still don't. Personal preference I guess. Good vid, thanks buddy...
My mom gave me her 78 mustangII. It was the two tone tan on top burgandy on the bottom. It had no hubcaps but I put armor all on the black rims and it shined. It was my first car in high school. I put fog lights on it tinted the windows. It took about 30 minutes to get to 60 mph (LOL). Then I got the 85 GT when it came out, I was a senior in high school. It had t-tops red with the recaro seats, man I got in so much trouble. Between the girls and the police I couldn't win. Then I got the 94GT sn95 (Blue), bought it new and it is a great car. It gets looks and thumbs up anytime I drive it, people always ask to buy it. It's not going any where.
I RATHER HAVE A 94 95 COBRA OVER THE 96 98 COBRAS.I BOUGHT A 97 COBRA NEW OFF THE LOT AND OUT OF ALL MY CARS THE 97 WAS A BIG MISTAKE LOL I MISSED A SHIFT AND THE MOTOR BLEW.SO MY POINT IS THE 96 98 COBRA MOTORS HAVE A GLASS JAW.I REALLY WANTED A 93 COBRA AT THE TIME AND EVENTUALLY I DUMPED THE 97 COBRA AND BOUGHT MY VIBRANT RED 93 COBRA AND I STILL HAVE IT TODAY ALONG WITH MY OTHER COBRA AND MY SHELBYS.
Was the owner of a '96 SVT Cobra (#4431) and love the styling and enough power to get into serious trouble with, and responded great to simple mods. Ill own another again eventually..
i bought one last summer. very nice and reliable car with a bit of speed. i’ve beat on it a lot and it’s stood up to it. took it out of storage for the first time today. i used a quarter tank within like 20 miles XD
The 93-95 Cobra/Lightning 1.7 roller rockers by Crane were not gold, they were/are silver. That one you pointed out just had oil tarnish on it. The 93 Cobra's also had the stamped steel valve covers but did not have the COBRA stamped in them. The 94-95's were a double layered design for noise.
I have an Sn95 from 94 with the 5.0. Still love the car even though its slow. Would like to either 4v swapp or barra swap. Not yet though still going 💪
U can make it quick with the 5 liter. Explorer top end and a beam with an on3 70mm turbo you could do 450-500 all day long at the tires and it wouldn't cost 4k in parts to do this possibly less. That would be enough to out run alot of modern cars and run with some pretty fast stuff considering these are significantly lighter than today's cars.
I currently have a 74 and a 95 so I guess I have the most hated Mustangs. Back in the early 2000’s I had two 89 notchbacks, I would love to have another but holy crap are they outrageously priced. Can’t wait to see what you do with this one.
The Lincoln mk viii came out the prior year with the DOHC 4.6 and every publication had been putting out rumors of the new mustang getting an over 300hp powerplant for the design change. The Mach iii show car was making rounds with a supercharged DOHC 4.6 (ten years before the terminator). Chevy was putting it down with the LT1 and six speed. The viper was still fresh and zR1 Corvette was doing battle. Then along comes this... The first major redesign in 15 years with much anticipation and none of the tech/power showed up to the party. This is why they were disappointing.
I've owned 2 SN-95 cars. I had a 1994 Mustang GT in Laser Tinted Red and a 1996 Cobra in Crystal White, #334 of 7,496. Also had a 1989 Mustang GT in Oxford White w/ Titanium Lower, 1990 Mustang GT in solid Vermilion Red and a 1999 Mustang GT in Rio Red.
This body style is one of my all-time favorites something about a sn95 cobra with a cowl hood and saleen spoiler on lowering springs just hits diffrent.
I loved my SN cars. I used to have a gorgeous 10/10 Canary yellow 95 GT with a cobra swap in it. Heads cam intake exhaust etc. car absolutely ripped, sounded awesome really ran like hell. Sold it and got back into the Fox game but I’ll always miss that car.
People loved mine too had it from 04-08. People hate them now because there is a bunch of wanna be mustang guys who just came over since the coyote came out and shit on anything that came before the coyote as if it's "trash" not realizing that the coyote evolves from the 96-98 4v. They were plenty good in their day. They could take down lt1 camaros which is what was out in 96 when they dropped then the later ls in 98 they could hang with those pretty well too edge to the ls. Not bad for being down 1.1 liters and having a longer geared 5 speed. People that talk about hating them are just regurgitating the same bs everyone else says. Oh it's not a fox it's so heavy omg it's 100 lbs heavier what are we gonna do? Lol. The 96-98 cobra smokes the fox on potential with the original engine in my eyes.
S95s were still Foxbody's. Just had a different body wrapped around it. Hoods on the 94s to 98s were heavier then the Square Fox's. 94 was the only year the made horizontal tail lights. 95 they went to vertical tail lights. Like 69 was the last year of the original 64 1/2 front bumper. 70 they changed it. 71 to 73 was the next generation but it was a boat Mustang. 3rd generation was the 74 Pinto look. Makes me upset they skip the 71 to 73 body style that was changed to a boat as a generation. Well anyway the old Cobras fuel set was the problem on why it was hated.
This is why I Love my 95 Thunderbird LX. It's so forgotten about but still bad ass car. Factory IRS it corners really good. But I haven't decided witch way engine wise I'm going with it but it does need more power.
That car has a npi 4.6 so on a budget do ported pi heads and intake and aftermarket cams with headers exhaust gears stall and a tire. You should get to 300 wheel with that setup and with the right stall and tire and suspension it'll move out for what it is. Then throw a power adder on top. If you wanna spend more coyote swap it. That is easily done too since it is a mod motor car. Alot less things need to be changed in order to run the coyote compared to a pushrod car.
These cars are underrated. Good handling good brakes and not flimsy like the foxbody. I'm a foxbody guy through and through though. On my friend's 94 cobra I ported the heads and intake and added a Steeda 19 cam with springs and it came alive. He already had shorties H pipe and flowmasters. No tuning needed. he later added a 150 shot of Nitrous and drag radials, it was night and day from stock. Hard to beat these cars for the money spent.
It's easy to make them alot faster for very little money. Idk why people do the ls bs so much. I think it's just the follower mentality everyone has. They're like everyone else is doing it so I will too. No way in hell I'm putting an ls anything in any Ford let alone a mustang.
This body style is AWESOME, my 2ND favorite body style for mustang! #1 body style 60-70 Boss This body style will be a collectors car very soon, worth a lot of money!
I’ve always been partial to Chevys my whole life but used to restore 60s mustangs with my uncle. But I remember when I was a kid hearing the cobra sn95 and fell in love with that one of a kind exhaust note. I now own a 94 cobra for $1500 and I wasn’t going to pass that up even though she could use a full rebuild but she still runs and drives and makes me buy her a different new part right as I put another on. One day I’ll have her stronger and cleaner than ever.
I campaigned a 1997 Cobra in SCCA B Street Prepared in 1999. Fast, stable and dependable. A seriously fun car. Power slides all day left me in debt to Goodyear through the early 2000s.
Had mine from new. 1996 Cobra conv. 3:73 gears, mass air flow sensor upgrade, throttle body swap, chip, roll bar and subframe connectors, Cobra R wheels, pro short shifter. Lowered with adj shocks. Camber plates. 275s all around. Just turned 50K miles. Looks new. Loved from the beginning. Hagerty is saying they are finally being sought after. Good condition getting $12-15K, excellent $20-22K. Never sell it. Black with saddle interior. One of 2500. Turns heads and people love it at shows. Runs like new. Original brakes. Zero issues. Take care of it and it will take care of you.
I honestly didn't know there was a lot of hate for them. I was a senior in high school (99-00) and got a 95 cobra and fell in love with it. Fast forward 22 years later and I now have a 98 cobra convertible as a nice day toy. I could see the "hate" for the 96-98 gt 4.6's though, but not cobras.
Ebay for the win! LOL. Holy cow, my bad as I foxbody guy I just assumed. No one makes aftermarket 94-95 lights. Looking at $150 for a used set as the best I can find.
I had many foxes and never looked the newer ones, but I ended up buying a Vortech v1 98 cobra vert and ended up buying an 03 cobra shell to put the built 98 motor in and turbo it but sold it and it's now in a 01 cobra turbo pending. I don't know why but the new edges grew on me.
Look forward to seeing what you do with car. I have a 95 Cobra I bought new; pretty much all stock, just sitting in the garage. I love that car, but it is so slow compared to cars nowadays lol!
Hell yeah man. Never get rid of that car. New body style with 5.0L the perfect combination. I'd love to have one. Still rocking my '90 LX 5.8L Mustang. Had it since 2001. It's gone thru so many versions I can't imagine ever getting rid of it.
I have a 94GT bought it new, more sn95 content. There are a lot of owners out here, and I get offers for mine everyday. The seats you added are the same ones I will be adding as I begin my restoration.
These were the Mustangs rolling around when I was growing up, so they’ll always be my personal favorite generation even though the First gen’s, Fox’s and S197s have them beat in a variety of categories
Sounds like an e-cam. The other thing we did was swap in a fox computer into the car using the PIH kit from ProM.... MAKES A WORLD OF DIFF... still run it on my 95
No it ain't a fox it's a better car than a fox. I've owned multiples of each the sn is the better car top to bottom and only has like a 100 lbs weight penalty but you get 5 lug, 4 wheel disc, better interior, better made overall, more room for wider tires all the way around, better handling, and it has the same engine with the same potential. Back when the fox was cheaper yea sure it was the better bang for the buck today that is not the case. You can get the better car for alot less money. Don't feel like you're "settling" trust me and take it from someone who's owned both.
@@midnight347 yeah I agree but, a fox coupe is a beautiful car..just not as plentiful or as affordable as the sn cars. Mine is a work in progress as any mustang enthusiast would attest to. Fox, sn95, 550..love em all.
They are making the SVO style side exhaust again for these cars. Ignore the missing piece off of that car and add side exhaust to it. SVO style side exhaust on those cars make them look amazing. I wish I could do it on my 04 Cobra, but there are subframe connectors in the way.
My 94 cobra is by no means the fastest car out there. But off the line I keep up with most modern cars until the top of 3rd gear. My motor is just full bolt ons but it does have a pretty well set up suspension. And a well setup drive train (save for the t5 which is about to explode) a metric fuck ton of weight reduction. At this point it drives and handles like a full blown race car just making borderline stock horsepower. Its running a very low 12 right now on street tires with stock h/c/i. This year im getting a new trans and a cage. Next year is heads and cam. Then finally a procharger. The goal is to run mid 9s and considering it was over a 14 from the factory im well on my way for not a whole lot of money.
Thanks for showing some love for the pushrod SN95. I love my 1995. Curves are my thing. Love to massage my T5!

It's called drag radials and 456 gears. Do that and you will forget all about being torqueless down low lol.
They make all of their torque from 2,500-5,000 RPM actually, peaking over 300ftlbs stock.. any small block is going to need steeper gearing to get into the power-band faster

Hope everyone has a blessed week. I own a 94 5.0 302 love these years in my opinion.

This is probably the best body style untill the 2015. it's beautiful.
Nice to see some SN love! We got that same freak snowstorm down here in Huntsville and it sucked!
I got a 95 GT that makes 600 wheel 🤷♂️. Love mine and it’s one of a kind
1994-1998 is my favorite Late Model body style. I like the fact that it came with a pushrod engine for the 94-95 models. Expect to spend a lot to make it fast. You’ve got to love it to build it.
You do not have to spend alot to make it fast. That is total nonsense from people who don't know wtf they're talking about.
I have a 94 cobra and I love it
A guy that used to frequent the same speed shop as me back in the early 2000s had a 96 mystic cobra.

Great video brother. Love the channel
That’s bad ass I just picked up a 94 cobra love it

The Lincoln mk viii came out the prior year with the DOHC 4.6 and every publication had been putting out rumors of the new mustang getting an over 300hp powerplant for the design change.
The Mach iii show car was making rounds with a supercharged DOHC 4.6 (ten years before the terminator).
Chevy was putting it down with the LT1 and six speed.
The viper was still fresh and zR1 Corvette was doing battle.
Then along comes this... The first major redesign in 15 years with much anticipation and none of the tech/power showed up to the party.
This is why they were disappointing.
I totally agree..Ford really dropped the ball on this generation
The question is WHY WOULD FORD DO THIS ?!

I had the 98 Cobra, nobody hated it! Everywhere i went people loved it!! 😍 I bought it brand new zero miles.

Having myself a stripped down 95 gt, toi should do more sn95 video like this one
Horizontal lights were 94 and 95.
@midnight347 why were they not on my 95 from factory new bought
This is why I Love my 95 Thunderbird LX. It's so forgotten about but still bad ass car. Factory IRS it corners really good. But I haven't decided witch way engine wise I'm going with it but it does need more power.
Spot on! Those Thunderbird are nice!
Turbocharged 5.0L for the win!

I’ve always been partial to Chevys my whole life but used to restore 60s mustangs with my uncle.

The good thing about owning an SN95 is no one will ever mistake your car for an Escort or Cavalier 🤷🏻♂️😂
They are making the SVO style side exhaust again for these cars. Ignore the missing piece off of that car and add side exhaust to it. SVO style side exhaust on those cars make them look amazing. I wish I could do it on my 04 Cobra, but there are subframe connectors in the way.

sn95s were pretty popular when I was in high-school(94-98). A badass slammed black 97 Cobra won our car show 3 years in a row.
Everyone that asks me what car to get into for a project I recommend an sn95 and if they've got the extra money I recommend a sn95 cobra.

17 years ago I set out to buy my first mustang. It was supposed to be a sn95 loved the looks of those even to this day but ended up finding a 89 GT which I love. I did the 4to8 swap cuz GT was rusty and found a coupe. Maybe someday I'll pick me up a 94 95 maybe maybe.
I was always a Fox body guy until I bought a forest green 98 cobra vert with a vortech V1 on it. That car beat on a lot of vehicles that has more horses than me. That motor is now forged and built for a turbo and im dropping it into an 03 cobra, which is another body style that took a while to grow on me. I think my neighbors 99 cobra made an impression on me as a kid but the fox bodies just had so much more room under the hood, or at least a smaller block.
It's the mod motors they're wide and the 4v has huge heads. The block is similar in size its the 4v heads that make the most difference on room.
The Cobra was not “hated” except by the people who did not own them.
