    Does it make sense? No.
    Was it fun and satisfying? Yes.

    Granted ... neither the DF-02 or the Aero Avante might be everybody's favorite cup of tea. But personally I like them both. And since I already got a shiny and upgraded Rising Storm it was time for a shiny and upgraded Aero Avante.
    But compared to my Rising Storm project, which included almost all DF-02 GPM Racing upgrades as well as some other after market products, I went a completely other route with this new Aero Avante project. Here I only allowed myself a few of the sensible original Tamiya DF-02 and TT-01 Hop-Up Options (No GPM, Yeah racing etc.) and tried to limit myself to parts I already had.
    Well, I also had to but a new chassis and a new body but that's about it ... I think. The rest I already had lying around in my DF-02 and TT-02B spare part boxes. Both new and used.
    I actually think it's gonna be a good runner, although the weak spots of the DF-02 chassis will limit the amount of serious bashing and jumps for me. But I definitely will enjoy running it.
    Well, since a lot of the parts was either broken or worn out, it's up to discussion if this is a new car, with some parts re-used, or if it is an old car, with some new parts. A real Trigger's Broom paradox, right, Pete Wylie RC?

    This poor buggy had tough life indeed. Its nice to see her back on her feet and ready for run again. Good job (I still prefer Rising storm body 😉).

      Hi Milos! Yeah, hope the previous owner had a lot of fun 😅 Now it’s good to go again. Ahh, yeah, well, between you and me, the only reason it actually got a new body, is that I already have another Rising Storm and also a Gravel Hound/Plasma Edge. So if I wanted to try something new with this one the Aero Avante was the only choice ☺️

    Ah, Mikael, there you had given us the impression you don't have much hobby time, you even bought an RTR, but then you tricked us and pulled off a full restoration project, and a nice one, too!
    I had never really seen that Aero Avante before, it looks cool!
    I'm not joking, today I just saw someone is selling both the DF-02 and the DF-03 Avante variants, 200E each, NIB, on the Finnish version of the blue newspaper. I hope a proper enthusiast manages to buy them, build and run them.
    Have a great rest of the weekend, buddy, did you run that Inferno yet?

      Hi Mads! Ahh, this one have been finished for quite some months. Just had no time editing it. It’s a project I worked on now and then, mostly in the evenings when I was not so tired. Took me a month or more 😅 yeah, that Aero Avante is special. It’s a love it or hate it type of body ☺️ Uhh, yeah, seen the DF-02’s price sky rocketing too. They used to be so cheap. Nope, not had time for the Inferno. Hoping next week ☺️ Hope you had a great Sunday in my Mother’s Land ☺️

    Good morning, Mikael! Wow, what a beauty you have created, a phoenix from the fire - oh, sorry, it's a Trigger's broom! 😅
    I remember this from your hobby channel in a box of bits! Poor thing, so great to see it lovingly restored, and now you have another Avante!
    Cool to learn that the TT-02B parts fitted the suspension, good info. And awesome to put some of those spare parts you had to good use. It makes perfect sense to me!
    Enjoy your "new", old car, I look forward to the run video. Take care, mate and happy Sunday! 😎✌👍

      Good afternoon, Mark! Thank you my good friend. A bit too long but at least I managed to cut a couple of hours of footage ☺️ Ha ha, yeah, close to a real Triggers Broom 😅 But well, still makes sense since the second hand lot was so cheap. And restoration is fun. Even though so much was broken or missing on this one that the actual number of parts reused was less than the new parts. But I can still use the old wheels, the body, some spare parts and restore the shocks for something else. Yeah, two of the most infamous Avantes now. They look good together with the PS-16 and the identical wheels and tires. Yeah, the TT-02B parts is a direct fit. And in my view, much more durable parts. I wish I still had my DF-02 universal axles for this one, but I used them for one of my TT-02B’s. And yes, looking forward enjoying this one. It will definitely run better than any of my other DF-02’s. Take care my mate!

    Hiya Mikael. Oh wow what a project. I enjoyed that. Do you remember we were talking about Triggers broom a while back. This almost qualifies but I did spot a few bits from the original car! What a state it was in. What was all that crap in the chassis? Was this an ebay buy? Looks like the previous owner gave it hell! Great stuff mate. Enjoy your Sunday 🙂

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  2 года назад +1

      Hiya Pete! Thank you so much! Yes yes, Triggers broom was my thought indeed during the protect. See the description 😅 I think in the end there is more new parts than old parts. I’m not sure what all the crap was. The green stuff? I think the previous owner broke the steering linkage mounts and then ‘repaired’ it with glue or epoxy. The front shock tower was also glued together with the front gear box. I picked it up locally (from the Danish ‘eBay’ - not called eBay but owned by eBay) together with another DF-02 and a Tamiya QD and a few HBX TL-01’s. Think it was a father-son project, and the father was cleaning up the old 10-20 years old boxes in his garage from back then. Got it cheap. There’s a few videos on my other channel about it. But yeah, sad to see a Tamiya in such a state, but at least it looks like the father-son team had a lot of fun with it ☺️ Best of Sundays to you.

      @@NordicRC Ah yeah, sorry I hadn't seen that the description carried on. Definitely a Triggers broom project. I think it's only the Brits who will know what you are on about. Cheers mate 🙂

    Looks like that cars been to hell and back, looks at the shocks its bent 45 deg, launched off a skate ramp? You are the angel that ressurected the car and gave it a second chance. GG Mikael.

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  2 года назад +2

      Yeah, the previous owner have had some fun both running it and gluing it ☺️ That front shock tower will break just by looking at it, and so the shocks. He he, yeah, I’m not sure how much of the old car that is actually back but those parts will definitely have a new life with me ☺️

    I definitely enjoy the wrenching part more so then running it!
    BTW, I'm curious what the total bill was in parts as I just did essentially the same on a vintage early 90's Traxxas Rustler. I split it in total needed as well as enhancement cost.

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  2 года назад +2

      Hi bro! Uhh, yeah, if I had to buy all the parts used here the bill would be crazy. But the general parts tree of the DF-02 are still quite cheap, if one can find them. For this build I only bought the chassis and the body and stickers. The rest, both new and used, I had (though they of course was bought some time ago). Because of that, I’m not sure what the bill was. But the car was pretty much for free, as I bought it second hand in a lot with five used cars where I basically only paid for one.

      More flexible/durable (unless too crazy RPM, then they can break). The stock metal bend easily.
