How To Repair Scion XB1 Rear Door Lock Actuator

- Ive found that the rear lock Actuators are weak on these models. Soon ill do a video on the front doors because im sure they will go south too. This is on a 2005 Xb and can be done on any vehicle
it was so easy to replace it the right way. once you get the panel off, and unsnap the rod by pushing up on plastic piece then pull lock rod out.. Then take out the 10mm bolt,on door panel, for the latch. Then take out the 3 torx t-30 screws on end of door.. the latch will fall out. then take out the 2 phillips gold screws. take off the connector. put the latch in that you can get fromEBAY. then put it back in the front door all you have to do it reach in thru the panel opening and remove the two phillips gold screws and the lock actuator comes out. make sure you look at the position when you take it out cause you have to align it up a little to get the ears in the right position to get it back in. on front door make sure you dont drop little gold screws, they might be hard to find. back door is two pin solenoid and front door is 6 pin solenoid.
And I reiterate all the thanks to you below. I really appreciate you intuition and common sense to bend the brackets outward. I'm not so mechanically inclined, so, thanks for your bit of genius in that area.
I paid around $200 to have actuators installed in all four doors of a car that had not power locks. worth the money but i wish i would have done it myself. (I was only 17 though)
They were installing a remote start at the same time.

I was looking for the actuator that you put in the video and the ones they sell now on ebay look completely different. Any idea if the installation is pretty much the same?
What did you use to lock on the metal pipe to the other metal pipe?
had a little trouble with front door connectors. you have to press a little tab and it took awhile to get ti off. Also if you buy the part on line, it comes with two fingers on one side. Had to cut the extra finger off with a dremel tool. Before you install the part inside the door be sure the little good screws go in the holes in the part. I had to drill one out a little. Also try to put the connector on the part outside the door to make sure it connects. I had one that was bent. It took an hour but i was able to bend the circuit board for the pins till it fit. took about an hour with the right part. this was a 2005 xb

Thanks for the tutorial. Just purchased on ebay "Zone Tech 2x Universal High Power Heavy Duty Door Lock Actuator"
The actual real lock actuator is not too hard to change and they're available cheap on Ebay. Just need a stubby phillips head for the two screws.

I've got this same problem with front driver's except it won't unlock. Which is fun because I can't get the door open to get the panel off. If you do the front video that'd be great!
Ill be working on that very soon for you all. My driver door is acting up, it doesnt want to lock, but it has a mind of its own, itll work for awhile then all the sudden its dead for a week
May well try this. If I do I will let you know my results. My rear locks are dead.
did you make a video for the front door lock actuator? my front passenger door actuator doesn't work any more and I want to replace it. I'm already doing the rear hatch handle myself since scion's stupid "warranty enhancement" was expired before it ever reached me!

I'm guessing you never got around to uploading that driver's side door actuator video LoL. it's a whole different world and looks a little more complicated.
Any idea when you'll have the front door video up? I just opened mine up but couldn't find the power cables like you had in the back.

why not just push the button down to lock it?
You know it's just like 2 screws that hold that actuator in place and you can buy the replacements on eBay or Amazon and just unplug the connector and unscrew it then just do it in reverse and the door locks will work inside of doing all this junk and ruin the factory wiring I'd never let somone like you work on my car sloppy and not done right at all
did u disconnect the actual
actuator... if not if the orig fails. the secondary wont donany good..
