Family is so cool! We had 15 here on the farm yesterday, three children, their spouses, and seven grandchildren, four of who kayaked down the creek on our property!

You are very honest, showing that even an experienced hiker and camper can get lost! Hard to film in a tent when you try NOT to show the kids (for their privacy)! The dogs would have made it tougher, though we love to see them out with you.

Nothing more important than family nothing !!, The time with your kids goes by so quickly they’ll be growing up and gone in the blink of a eye. Enjoy that time as often as you can.
The drone shots are gorgeous and it’s funny even a sprinkle of snow and the woods look quite magical. It’s easy to walk in circles when you are lost in the woods especially if it’s dark 🦉🦉🌙💫
Getting older definitely has some disadvantages. We just have to keep moving! Love the tent and that you are including the kids as well (they may have to help dad out of the camping chair one day) 😂
They are blessed beyond words to have a dad like you. As the song goes, “teach your children well”.❤️
Thank you for sharing this, Bjorn. We had a similar 'hunting cabin'; with benches on either side, and a pot-bellied stove in the centre. The tent/stove looks marvelous and cozy.

Yes, and when I say "lost" we didn't really get lost, but we missed the lavvo twice in the darkness, actually. I had to navigate tree by tree (I know the trees up there) to find it.
I remember about 60 years ago that I spent every weekend wondering miles into the local bush and never got lost but not at night. I think that you develop a sense of direction during the daylight especially after dark you have no bearings.

Would love to see a voluntary program for homeless, unemployed people that has camping around national parks while working on maintenance tasks. This would improve their repertoire of skills while providing them with the basics of food and shelter as well as others to talk to and hopefully some financial compensation for their efforts.

We have an old hand-held Garmin GPS. No transmitters, just a receiver and an LCD display. It has a very handy bread-crumbs feature. From experience it is very useful when trying to get back to where you were not lost.
Yes, it certainly is. I should of course have brought mine. Lesson learnt!

This video really put me in the mood for camping and beer. I like tent. American army made a canvas one like it that was used in Korean war.
M51 I think. It was heavy canvas with a liner. 13 ft and 18 ft diameter.
Not suiting a for solo hiking.

It is so easy to get lost. I didn't really get lost, as I can navigate by trees I know in the area, but best not to take any chances.

Are you ever hiking in the northern part of Norway? I haven't but, maybe one day - during the summer months...too cold for my integrated Irish skin in the winter when I'm all blue - all the way into and including, my entire skeleton...brr 😱

That tent looks good. My only tent is a 4 or 5 metre belltent. It's great and I love it, but hard work to set up by yourself. Not worth it for 1 or even 2 nights as I bring all my glamping gear with me. Can't camp rough otherwise. 😂
Problem with walking in the woods at night - even if in a familiar area - everything looks so different in the dark! Same with an area ou know in summertime - can be very different in winter.
