Good video as usual. I quit Facebook a while ago but tried it again in 2020 but soon realised it was a waste of time as almost everyone I added was already on WhatsApp so quickly deleted it again. I tried Instagram again recently and similar story, it is currently set for the 30 day deletion period (interesting that deletion is not instant). I bought a book by Adam Alter called Irresistible which is about addictive technologies and how there are people who literally try to suck away as much of our time as possible by keeping us glued to our devices. Modern technology and apps become a different beast when you understand how sinister the intentions of some developers are. It's also noted in Alter's book that people like Steve Jobs wouldn't even let their own children touch an iPad. I never did finish the book - mostly because I have been on my phone too much.
They really try to retain you with any method! Interesting to hear your take on this...yes I heard that about Steve Jobs, and I think, also Mark Zuckerberg. These technologies are truly addictive, a documentary (forgot which one) compared the effect to slot machines that give continuous satisfaction through the effects and sounds. Hope you get back to that book soon!
This video is honestly helpful. I've been planning to quit tiktok for a while now but I'm just a little bit hesitant. I feel like I will be asked why I've done such a thing? Why did i do it? Honestly I just want to delete it entirely to the point I won't ever remember it again. I took 5 days off and it felt peaceful but was a tiny little bit bored. So I'm still thinking and probably by tomorrow, ill have made my decision on quitting. Thanks for the video!❤
That sounds great! You can always come back if you really need it. But based on my experience, the urge to use social media decreases automatically after a hiatus. 😄
@@MultipleCareers Thank you for the feedback! I am kind of missing it but I think all it will do is make me worse again! I’m doing different things and it’s a bit better! I might have to get off of RUclips though for a little because I’m becoming addicted to it too! 😂
Iv deleted all my social media every single one and quite gaming I just have you tube for educational purposes. Apart from that hudge diffrence and it's bloody great.
Super timely and helpful. I've been on a social media pause and enjoyed every bit of it. Not sure if I'll ever go back. Except for youtube which I count more as "Video Google Search Engine." I especially like how after talking about your ice cream addiction, the background of your phone was (I think) a bowl of ice cream.
Haha glad you noticed that! Yes, have been splurging a bit on gelato this summer and it happened to fit with the video :). Thanks for sharing your experience, it's great to hear how other people also enjoy 'offline life' without social media, more. I also use youtube more as a search engine, like you do...occasionally chat with people like I'm doing now - but it's a totally different experience compared to fb/ig. Hope everything is well, and enjoy the summer!😎
I enjoyed using social media on my facebook and instagram for the sake of posting all the highlights and positive accomplishments of any areas of my life.. But later on I GOT BORRED because it became SO PREDICTABLE TO KNOW the outcome of GETTING LIKES from the same friends, classmates, acquaintance, etc etc.. And that's one reason why I stop using social media such as facebook and instagram, and as for others like TikTok, Snapchat, or any other social medias, my question to myself is "what's the point?".
I stopped like well over two years ago; and even then it was for fam to reach me. I like antisocial media: novels, guitars, dogs (reckon they might count as social). The women I encounter in my everyday life are akin to crayons when compared to you: you're like the discovery of pastels.
Social media in general will not leave us opportunities to enjoy our real life, and coexist with reality. Social media is a Mental disease, always at times i say to myself, maybe that picture i put on my account will not receive much admiration, or maybe it will be something negative, this is how the person thinks, and from here addiction begins
@@MultipleCareers exactly It is better for me to excuse myself from having times and diaries in something that makes us more useful. There is travel, there are books, Spending time with family This is the best thing in our life.
I left social media for a numerous amount of reasons, and I will never forgive the app for how much it's changed my life, because a door behind me closes for a reason, and I intend on keeping that door closed, so no more fame for this person!
I recently watched some movies from the 90s, and what always amazes me is how much simpler life was, in some regards, without the constant distraction of social media (saying this while typing on a social media platform.) I do appreciate these kinds of short conversations though, which are not shallow, but inspire me back!
🤣..i quit Facebook and Twitter in 2015 it was stupid at first i thought it was funny and silly i would connect with people i haven't seen or talked to in years but then it got boring stupid and political and annoying i never posted anything and it just wasn't my thing it wasn't my style so i just got rid of it i only use youtube when im bored to watch videos and people who im friends with still know my phone number and how to reach me i follow political stuff on the news but ill never do any social media ever again (not including "dating apps"...lol

I deleted my Facebook 5 years ago. Saved so much time.
I agree!
Wow Im loving these videos, I feel like channel was perfect timing for me
Glad to hear that, thanks!
Don’t make a video about quitting social media if you still have it 😂
You can always restart again after quitting!
True

Great video! Keep up the hard work. Your channel is going places. Very soon at 100k++, it will be *cool* to have subbed to Multiple Careers under 5k!
That means a lot to me, thank you!

Interesting! Thanks for sharing that, glad to hear that you also experienced a difference and that things are better that way! Cheers!

Yes it is addictive and entertaining at the same time. Guess its more then 4 hrs a day average today for most young people..
Easily! It seems people either spend a ton of time on social media or a tiny amount, there's very little in between.
Why are you considering quitting social media? Are you in control?

every day, when i need some time to relax,i open my social media, after one hour,i got tired
@RoomofCybertron Especially TikTok, yessss, what's the point? :D I feel that I would go insane if I spent an hour a day on TikTok😂
@Rytyrクモ Dogs as social media...or social-medium? Interesting thought. Definitely, spending time with those things is so much more rewarding!

It is kinda crazy if I really think about it. It's a parallel life online. It just can't compare with real-life experiences.
