Yeh, like our country itself is very veteran when it comes to war, for many centuries, war is one of our assets. Because we are exposed to such a long term war in many fields, we grew with it.
its more complicated than that, lets put into context that china's qing dynasty was dissolved and replaced with the "republic of china" which was accidentally weaker than the previous government while being ruled by the same person. this then started a civil war that brought china to its knees right until the sino-japanese war (just before ww2) where china got absolutely demolished by japan, and by the end of the war they literally had no experienced soldiers or generals left. then the korean war started in 1950 (just 5 years later) and china thought that just because they replenished their military through mass conscription and buying every soviet weapon, tanks, planes, artillery, and rockets they could get their hands on. and they mistakenly had the overconfidence to think that the UN was not experienced enough for war, particularly the philippine peftok who were all veterans from ww2, surviving everything from the battle of corregidor to the bataan death march, they were practically special forces commandos at this point and acted like it. despite having sent only a few thousand of them to korea, they pulled the weight of several nations worth of contribution all by themselves, particularly in the battle of yultong where both the turkish brigade and 65th US infantry regiment were forced to retreat while the peftok 10th bct stayed behind to cover their retreat with screening fire. then spent the next 3 days wiping thousands of chinese turkeys off the map with minimal casualties until the US forces managed to reinforce them. then in the intervening weeks, the 20th bct were tasked as one of the forces to capture eerie hill, wipe every chinese turkey off the face of the earth with rolling artillery barrages, and storm through their battlelines with philippine and american sherman tanks. until operation shock & awe was done decades later, i considered this moment as one of the most badarse moments in "boots on the ground" military history. edit: funnily enough china finds themselves in exactly the same situation today, having amassed so much firepower, and yet all of their soldiers (and i mean every single one of them) are all greenhorns with zero combat experience, and are afraid for their lives, even their families are afraid for them since they are their families only heirs thanks to the now abolished (too little too late) one china policy.

The weakness of filipinos is their disunity. This is what I have observed reading PH history with great heroes dying because their own countrymen turn their backs against them in favor of foreign favors. This is still happening even to this day and I am ashamed to see most filipinos are more comfortable using english in communication rather than their own native language and can't even speak a full sentence without mixing foreign words in it. I truly believe that if filipinos are united and is truly passionate with who they are then we see the result like the battle of yultong and showing that filipinos are strong fighters and can overcome even greater powers. Filipinos have great potential but until that great potential is tapped with the proper attitude then nothing would change with how the worlds sees PH now.

For example, the tagalogs would say something like "salipawpaw", the bisayans would make something up like "lupadyanan", the ilocanos would make up another word, etc. instead of just saying airplane, or eroplano, as the word comes out when spoken in the way native speakers of many of these languages tend to speak... The new word for each language would bring the language speakers of each group no closer to understanding the members of the other groups. While I understand the importance of preserving culture, there's no way you can forge a national identity using a single language here without actually eradicating parts of the cultural identity of the speakers of other languages within the country. While I do think we should devote more resources to local language education, ensure local words are not supplanted, and have a system for coining new words, the creation of an artificial national language that encapsulates the spirit of each local language group is improbable at best, is going to be just about as problematic as use of a foreign one (especially for the more linguistically divergent groups from the 8 most used ones), and has a greater chance of supplanting local words which should be preserved to begin with.

It was not only that the Filipinos were good at figthing, but also they were figthing chinese who had no history of success in fighting other races.
Besides, the chinese were not fully committed to fight and die for other nation that was north koreans.
