mostly Filipino soldiers use Garands and Carbines some Thompsons. but the Garand bearers got the most kill because of bayonets . that time these weapons rarely malfunctions because of cold weather. and the officers always remind his subordinates "one bullet-one man" this was a thrifty battle. lol!
The Filipinos were armed with the same weapons as the Americans. The deal was that the US provide the supplies and equipment. But the US never gave them Sherman armor so the motorized division got M24 Charger light tanks instead. M2 carbines and BAR's because it was organized as rifle squads.
Yeah, nicely said. I remember reading that during the battle of Yultong... they never received their tanks, but they still held their own. Thanks for watching!

The firearms of the Filipino soldiers at that time were M1 Garand, Cal .45 Thompson Submachine gun, Cal 30 Machine gun, and M1 & M2 Carbine. Their firearms kept on jamming because of continuous firing or overheating.
What made me so fond of this particular story was the fact that they are an all-volunteer battalion. The 2nd one that literally left a mark on my memory was that they're so outnumbered (regardless of how many the hostiles were) yet, decided to hold that piece of island in the sea of reds. I can't fathom how terrifying it is to get surrounded by hostile soldiers, moreover outnumbered while surrounded.
Not to take anything away from the other brave Filipinos who served during the Korean War (soldiers and civilian), but I noted two prominent Filipinos in the video-the last man talking was Fidel V. Ramos who others have already noted became the 12th president of the Philippines and Benigno Aquino Jr (the Korean War correspondent) who became a Filipino politician and whose untimely death became the catalyst of the People Power revolution in the 1980s that swept away the old Marcos regime and ushered in the democratic processes in the Philippines that continues today.
President Quirino lost so much of his family during the second world war, yet as president, he issued an executive order for the whole country to forgive the Japanese. That is why the Philippines do not have a liberation day parade unlike in the late 40's.
My (late) uncle fought in the Battle of Yultong/Yuldong with d 10th BCT (PEFTOK) on April 1951. He narrated that it was a freezing day. The Chinese Communist army opened with relentless artillery & mortar barrage to soften-up d Filipino soldiers defensive position. He described d barrage as like "planting rice". Then came the attacks in waves of thousands of Chinese soldiers. My uncle said that he was terrified that there might be more enemies than the ammo that they had. He kept firing his rifle & he stopped only when d barrel was already very hot. Thru d bravery, fighting skills, & caring for each other, the Filipino soldiers were able to hold-on. When d 2nd day dawned, the Filipinos counter-attacked with d support of tanks. Hundreds of Chinese soldiers were killed & probably, more were wounded. For Korea, for freedom & for brotherhood, a snappy salute to these brave Filipino soldiers!

Fidel V. Ramos was the platoon leader, not a non-com. Much like in the US, West Point graduates immediately become officers. At the time, (I don’t know if that’s still the case) the student who gets the top score in the entrance exam in our Philippine Military Academy automatically gets accepted into West Point, so that’s where he studied and trained. Note: the First Lady of the Philippines at that time was not President Quirino’s wife, but his daughter, Vicky Quirino. President Quirino’s wife and three children were killled by the Japanese in WWII. So, Luis Gonzales was married to Vicky Quirino, even though she’s the First Lady. I just thought you looked confused when he said “married to the First Lady.” 😅

That's awesome! I wasn't aware of that when I posted the video. I have never met a bad officer from West Point. Thanks for your feedback and for watching! 🤙
Fidel V Ramos the one who led the recon team of 40 men to hill Errie was then a young Lieutenant. He then became the 12th President of the Philippines.
That's awesome! You can tell he was a great leader. He still remembered the small details. Thanks for your feedback and for watching!
A West Point graduate sent by the Philippine Military Academy.
My Grandfather is one of those 40 Men in 20thBCT PEFTOK in Hill Errie.
@@jointbasepodcast And The Bad things to Say To The Americans they didn't Provide A Armaments To Filipino Soldier That's why Filipinos had a Difficulty to penetrate the bunkers and foxhole of the Nkoreans but still Filipinos over come those hardships.

Thanks, brother. Thanks for watching! 🤙
That's our former Philippine president Fidel V. Ramos, a lieutenant during the korean war who led the assault on "eerie hill". He is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point in 1950. Also founded the Phil. Army Elite Special Forces.
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!
He mentioned Good Lord, All fight with Filipino has God Intervention
Fidel V. Ramos, platoon leader during the Battle of Hill Errie, was a West Point graduate, a lieutenant during that battle.
That's awesome! I wasn't aware of that when I posted the video. I have never met a bad officer from West Point. Thanks for your feedback and for watching! 🤙
@@jointbasepodcast I think it was a part of the first US-Phil Mutual Defense Treaty that the top 3 passers of the Philippine Military Academy entrance exam were admitted to West Point. Ramos who eventually became a Philippine president was one of the beneficiary.
I believe Filipino soldiers are one of the most experienced warriors in South East Asia because they have had to fight the insurgency for many years now.
They are amazing! Thanks for watching!
Excellent video!!’
Glad you liked it!
I quess filupino are arguevable brave race.......

The smart guy you described became the president of the Philippines. Smart soldier, bad beaurocrat. 🤣
That's wild! The more you know. Thank you for your feedback and for watching!
hhahaha
Former president Fidel Ramos was graduated in West point military academy🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
That's awesome, no doubt his actions saved a lot of lives that day. Thanks for watching!
Fidel Ramos became president of the Philippines. He's my grandpa's 2nd cousin and when my grandpa was getting cancer treatment he visited him at the hospital when he was president.
That shows a lot!
Thats why when American and pilipino soldier joint forces is so deadly
mostly Filipino soldiers use Garands and Carbines some Thompsons. but the Garand bearers got the most kill because of bayonets . that time these weapons rarely malfunctions because of cold weather. and the officers always remind his subordinates "one bullet-one man" this was a thrifty battle. lol!
Agreed, accuracy was everything. Heavy weapons and tanks could have gone a long way. Thanks for your feedback and for watching! 🤙
Is this why General McArthur said…”Give me 10,000 Filipino soldiers and we will conquer the world.”♥️🙏✝️🙏♥️🇵🇭🙏
I love that quote!
He was an officer, retired 4 star General and became a President
Yeah, I found that out after the video. Very impressive
Most of the filipno soldiers by that time there using garand rifle caliber. A 1000 meters range and high power rifle.
They had some pretty decent equipment for sure! Thanks for your feedback and for watching! 🤙
The officer who led the assault on Hill Eerie is the late former PRESIDENT FIDEL VALDEZ RAMOS. He is a graduate of West Point Military Academy in the United States.
That's awesome! Very sharp guy, no doubt. That would explain why use the same tactics. 🤣
The firearms of the Filipino soldiers at that time were M1 Garand, Cal .45 Thompson Submachine gun, Cal 30 Machine gun, and M1 & M2 Carbine. Their firearms kept on jamming because of continuous firing or overheating.
That's wild man. Thanks for sharing
True that. Nicely said
Not to take anything away from the other brave Filipinos who served during the Korean War (soldiers and civilian), but I noted two prominent Filipinos in the video-the last man talking was Fidel V.
Nicely said, sir. I appreciate you sharing that and for watching!
Yeah Benigno Aquino Jr and his wife corykong the founder of NPA(new peoples army) a terrorist people in the Philippines!
President Quirino lost so much of his family during the second world war, yet as president, he issued an executive order for the whole country to forgive the Japanese. That is why the Philippines do not have a liberation day parade unlike in the late 40's.
I didn't know that. I learn so much from the comment section. Thanks for your feedback and for watching!
The soldier you mentioned was General Ramos. He Graduated from West Point. Thanks for the video upload 👍
I appreciate the feedback and for watching
He retired as the Chief of Staff of the AFP and became the President of the Philippines, he is a graduate of the US West Point Academy
That makes sense. Pretty squared away as a Lt. Thanks for your feedback and for watching! 🤙
12:00 That man is Retired General Fidel V. Ramos, also a former President of the Philippines in the 90s.
I found that out after the video. Very impressive!
That "smart dude" is Fidel V. Ramos - West Point grad, also served in Vietnam as a non-combat civil military engineer, part of a unit trained in Fort Bragg that eventually became Philippine Army Special Forces, became a Lt. General and lastly, the President of the Philippines.
What an underachiever ! Lol.
That's awesome, underachiever for sure! That guy lived life to the fullest, no doubt. Thanks for you feedback and for watching!
Fidel v Ramos was a 2nd Lt at that time a fresh grad of West Point and become the President of the Philippines ,M2 Browning MG are issued and small arms 45acp Some M1 garand
Yeah, I wasn't aware that was the same Ramos. It all makes sense now. I have never met a bad Lt from West Point. Thanks for your feedback and for watching! 🤙
We Filipinos are all sophisticated in war combat
That's the truth. Thanks for watching! 🤙
That officer is Fidel Ramos who became the president of the Philippines from 1992-1998. He is related to Ferdinand Mrcos Sr.. During the EDSA revolution, he joined the opposite camp of Corazon Aquino and abandoned Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
He definitely had many years of service. When I posted that video, I was not aware he was the same Ramos. Thanks for your feedback and for watching! 🤙
Young Lt back(Fidel V.Ramos) then,former Gen.Of AFP,Former AFP Chief,Former President(12th)of the Republic of the Philippines.
That makes sense. Smart Lt, no doubt!
That man who picked by he's batallion commander is 'west point' graduate and our former president of the philippines.. pres. Fidel v. ramos ( r.i.p)
He was a very sharp Lt...How was he liked as President?
I still have to hear filipino soldiers retreating from a fight. Retreat is not in the filipino soldiers vocabulary
I was lost in the sauce, man. I should have guessed he was a West Pointer. I have never met one that wasn't squared away. Thanks for clarifying! 🤙

Former President of the Philippines Fidel V. Ramos a platoon leader from the 20th BCT PEFTOK was a graduate from US Military Academy West Point earning the degree of Bachelor of Science in Military Engineering. He's also the Founder of the

@@leonorabenzon9991hey never was or anytime in the future. Filipino soldiers under the the UN Peacekeeping Force in Syria were ordered by their UN Force Commander (Indian Army) to withdraw and not provide any aid and rescue another Peacekeeping unit that was under attacked. The Filipino Officer disregard that order and proceed to provide reinforcement to the beleaguered unit. The Indian General was relieved of duty for being incompetent.
@@paulflores9909 I thought they were order by the higher ups to surrender to Al Qaeda who have surrounded them and just like the Fijian contingent who surrendered earlier. They were not asked to reinforce but actually to surrender. Then as it was told, they refused and eventually evaded capture.
The person of the 20th BTC your were asking about is former Pres. Fidel Ramos, who was an LT at that time. Ramos would also serve in Vietnam a decade later.
That's awesome! I wasn't aware of that when I posted the video. I have never met a bad officer from West Point. Thanks for your feedback and for watching! 🤙
The commander that took Hill Eerie was Phil President Gen. Fidel V. Ramos...
Thanks for the feedback
The firearms of the Philippine expeditionary force were mostly U.S made if not all, I don't think that the firearms of the 19th BCT are jamming because of its inferior quality but rather overheating due to the amount of enemy forces bearing down on them as they try to defend their position. What the five BCT's has accomplished there in korea where truly remarkable! 😊🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Yeah, I agree with that. China would send their Soldiers in waves which would overheat the barrels and serve as psychological warfare on the enemy.
The Filipino soldiers were using arms and munitions that were remnants of WWII... .M1 Garand, Tommy Guns etc.
Thanks for the feedback
That officer's name is Fidel Ramos who became one of the president of the Philippines in the late 70's.
