I had the similar feeling when I saw her, she looks somehow like Mongolian and I could not tell why, maybe the bone structure of her face, and the shape of her eyes? I am not sure. And for the 1st one and 2nd one, I thought that they are from Taiwan and Mainland China respectively because in my mind, the girls in Taiwan always speak gently while girls from Mainland China would speak more ....well, loudly, and I never thought the 2nd one to be Japanese since what I learnt from the media is that Japanese girls always always always be a bit too polite...hahaha. And then, I was shocked by the truth,hahahahahahaa! Interesting to learn this and thanks to the video.

No hate on PH rep but I think she just needs a bit more research 😊 i’ve watched her in almost all videos here and she keeps saying we’re almost all half spanish, american, etc. when that is not the case. We are Filipinos so we have very strong austronesian ancestry.That’s why we look much alike our southeast asian neighbors. We have more chinese ancestry (mix literature ranging from 18-20%) than spanish given that our ancestors and chinese traders have longer interactions in the past. Only a few people in the PH still have spanish roots (1-3% of Filipinos still have spanish ancestry in them according to study in Stanford). It also shows in our language (which she kept saying in other vids we have more spanish words but not really) - PH languages are heavily rooted in austronesian language like Cebuano, Tagalog, Ilocano, etc. That’s why we share more similar languages with Southeast Asian countries that also has austronesian roots vs. the Spanish language.
I wish this channel does the research for the participants, right? Like give more interesting and different factual facts or trivias from previous videos.

My thought is that ✨colonialism✨ is deeply rooted in our culture-so we try so hard to associate ourselves with our colonizers because we perceive it to be better than just being purely Filipino. It’s hard to just say “Yeah, that’s Filipino” so we say “Yeah, being Filipino means we’re mixed american and spanish and all these other races”

FAXXXX omgg I've been noticing all of these too from the previous videos she's in 😭No hate on her personally though, bc I know for a fact that she's just parroting whatever is being impressed onto our students by the schools here in the PH and the colonial mentality that runs deep in our media. About pronounciation it's because of our mongolian language. In our language we have all letter , so our dialect is very strong which let us talk easily in any languages

Yes! Indonesia is NOT a Muslim country, its a country where the majority are Muslims. People always seem to get that wrong, but in reality there are a BUNCH of races, religion, and languages.

That why you can see we don't said Indonesia muslim country even rest of the world know Indonesia majority islam (that what always Indonesia teacher said in our education system). Honestly i guessed Mongolia for the third girl based on her look... I'm Native American and she just feels "familiar" in her appearance so i never once thought she was anything else. Native Americans and Mongolians share so much dna that it just made sense!
It is true that Native Americans are genetically closer to Mongolians than other Asians like Chinese or Koreans.
I think this kind of content is really important because it opens the conversation of how ASIANS stereotypes other ASIANS. Like see how majority of them assumed right off the bat someone’s nationality based on fashion and skin color; which I believe is heavily influenced by how media portrays other nationalities. But I must say that all of them are respectful and cautious with how they respond.

As a Filipino I think the Malaysian and Bangladesh girls explained their nationalities or ethnicities very well. The Filipina obviously was not as always in so many topic here that she represented. Instead of saying half chinese, half spanish etc,. She should emphasized more that we, like the Malaysian had large Chinese ancestry population and some western as well mainly of Spanish origin that's why not all Filipinos had brown skin like the Malay like how the Mongolian girl had thought. I thought the same. He’s what considered a good-looking guy in the western part of Indonesia, so I wouldn't have guessed that he was half Dutch.
The only clue is that his face looked red from sun exposure in this video, but that could also happen to fair-skinned indigenous Indonesians.

The percentage of people with Spanish blood is *much* less significant than she claims -- skin bleaching is common w/Filipinos (and other S.E. Asians) due to the harmful effects of colonialism.

But an Indo is like Filipino Mestizos where it's the result of a long period of colonialism which shapes the people and the culture mixed between both countries. Indo people are not that many in Indonesia. They weren't really liked after the Indonesian Independence that many of them had to leave and stay in the Netherlands where they weren't even used to. They already were used to the food and wearing Kebaya (For women) in the tropical Dutch East Indies. Thus, now they make up a significant minority in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is placed as the second at a country which has the most Indonesians outside of Indonesia, nearly 3 million. Malaysia is placed as the first. If you're talking about physical features, very various. The western you go, you'll see lighter complexion, the eastern you go you'll see darker complexion. Indonesia is a transcontinental country so it lies between Asia (Austronesia mixed with Austroasiatic) and Oceania (Melanesia). Whe you're from the middle part, you'll see both mixture of Asian and Pasifika culture bcs of the intermarrige. They embrace them all. That's why . Also many Dutch claim to have Indonesian blood or heritage to be seen as excotic especially in terms of having the best warm and delicious Indonesian/Indo food recipes. @@LosAnggraito Common misconception but the preference for lighter skin was actually already there precolonially, when The Philippines didn't exist as a country yet, these islands were a bunch of tribes and kingdoms, the upper classes like the Rajahs, Sultans and Datus (or those near them) would tend to stay indoors more than the lower classes, the lower classes would usually work outside more and thus have a darker complexion so darker skin became associated with the poor or "looking poor"
And yeah, though those who would later colonize these islands, the Spanish, Americans, Japanese would all pass the beauty standard for being of a lighter complexion, it was never about them to begin with, they never started it, it was already there.

Even if they look fully asian for some people, Mongolians always strike to me by having some slight western features or expressions, usually their smile or eye color could look more western, their body type too, maybe it's a general adaptation to cold.
Mongols have more similarities with kazakhs and kyrgyzs than with other asians. Like I am kazakh here but watching this video the only girl who is kind of close to me culturally is mongolian girl.
