    Bet the 350KW would be insane, but still the 150KW still manages to give good charging rate. Love these new EVs with amazing charging speeds!

    I have the same trim as you and thanks for your content! At 150kw stations, I get 120kw+. My first experience at a 350kw was a bust. I got around 107kw with no other chargers in use and I drove for 35 minutes to get there on a 70 degree day. I have always turned my car off when charging. I'll try leaving it on next time.
    Btw, I'm loving the Grizzl-e home charger. Super durable charger for exterior applications! I have the duo so we can either charge 1 car at 40amps or 9.5kw per hour or 2 cars at 20amps or 4.75kw per hour. If you don't need a smart charger because your charge management can happen with the car's software, like the ev6, I suggest buy a charge box built with premium parts like these.

      Glad you like the content! That's a bummer though. Definitely keep your car on so you get air! Lol. And yeah I've heard good things about that charger. I love my JuiceBox though.

    Jeff, Nice session. How often do you note readings in excess of 150 kW at 150 chargers? Don't think I've ever seen that in my sessions (same trim as yours).

      This is honestly my first time charging my EV6 at a 150 kW charger. The EA chargers are known to push around 170ish though on the 150 kW chargers.

      I have the same experience like Jeff. The Electrocute America chargers generally push out above their rated power. However, I have encountered many charging stations in bad repair, i.e. either the unit is inoperable, the hardware is broken or the card/App reader won’t work.

    Hi Jeff, Is there a "Plug and Charge" option available with the Kia EV6 on Electrify America?

    We've only had our EV6 for a week, didn't realize you could charge with the car on. Is there an advantage to that? I of course assumed that just like a gas car, you'd have to have the car turned off. We broke in the car (aka big learning experience) driving from the LA area (Corona) to San Francisco and back and for the most part, charging speeds were pretty solid. Oddly enough, 90% of the EA chargers we used were "complimentary charging", so we didn't even have to use our free 1000 KwH. We did use one EA charger that was incredibly slow (50-60 kWh) and an EVGo that was also in that range.

      @TechnicallyJeff  Год назад +1

      Congrats! The biggest advantage to be is that you have ac/heat while you're waiting for the car to charge.

    • @TechnicallyJeff

      No with the 1000 free kWh from Kia, I don't I'll need to pay for anything for a while.

    Man, I feel sorry for those Bolt EV drivers. The EV6 bests the Bolt at max charging speed (55 kW) all the way up until 89% SoC. I was almost going to get a Bolt EV, then I considered a Blazer EV before settling on this car. It's not even a fair comparison because at 89%, the Bolt would be down to under 20 kW.
    It's absolutely insane (in a good way) that the EV6 can hold over 100 kW at 80%. I don't know any other car that can do that except maybe Lucid Air for 2-3x the price.

    • @TechnicallyJeff
      @TechnicallyJeff  Год назад

      Yeah exactly. The bolt is a great vehicle too other than charging speed. And yeah the lucid and I think porsche.

    • @TechnicallyJeff
      @TechnicallyJeff  Год назад +1

      That's what it would have been without the Kia charge pass and without the charging plan. You can pay $4/month for cheaper fast charging ($0.31 vs $0.43). Check out my other video comparing EV Charging costs to gas!
