Good to see you making a difference General, also I just got word that a settlement needs our help, I’ll mark it on your map. This is how we’re going to take back the Commonwealth, one small victory at a time.
I've never played this game before yet watched the whole video and was fascinated. It's funny to me how the artists and modelers put so much energy into creating the destroyed structures, only for players to try to make it look as perfect as possible.
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to position your main entrance on a flat open space. The reason the original builders put the entrance where they did is because of the narrow earth causeway that runs to It, allowing defenders to concentrate fire on any attackers as they made their way around the causeway to approach the gate.
Steven Paige IKR? All I did was use the gap in the walls to make a kind of catwalk. With turrets. So now they are elevated enough to gun down enemies before they get close.
@Easton Lepacek I hate mirelurks, but they’re not too bad if you go at one with a full-auto weapon, or throw a couple mines down while you’re being chased by them
The King Of Cringe Yes but the specific name is Star fort, no pentagonal settlement, search it on the internet, you'll fing many from the 17th to the 19th century
These wall repair techniques have improved a LOT since 2016: You are better off building your 2x2x5 concrete foundation sections away from the castle wall and group selecting them to move them in place and align them using "the pillar glitch". Your resulting wall will be MUCH nicer as a result with no gaps between levels, nor side gaps, which he avoided by not aligning the foundation blocks with each other and creating a gap between layers. You can even go a bit further and play grouping games to allow you to add an additional layer on the bottom to give you a smoother floor that you can snap gates to before grouping everything and moving it into place. To be fair... This was one of the earliest castle builds I took inspiration from after getting Fallout 4.
flyingsushiroll My main settlement is the red rocket, I just have a bunch of beds on the floor, and make them work their butts off, looks sort of like prison camp
I fortify my settlements with solid 20 meters high concrete wall with turrets, gates, watchtowers and other stuff...with some help of console to turn off limits.
I found a way to make the shack foundations poking through the armory ceiling look good. 1. Place the 3 foundations down like he did, and you shouldn't be able to make a square out of it. 2. Go under through the armory, and keep fiddling around with the 4th foundation in the empty space. After awhile you should be able to place it, and voila, you have the pathway looking normal without holes and the armory has a grey ceiling.
Johnny Cocksville “Face” the Shack foundation blocks in the wall with concrete walls. Then you can fill in the gap in the wall without coming through the armoury roof.
With the DLC you can use concrete walls (one long one and one shorter) and place them in the gap created by the blocks. When you look in the armory along the back wall the concrete walls clip in ever so slightly but they look as though they're supposed to be there as they have a metal type frame around the outside
I still reference this video for my playthrough to this day. The cleanest and coolest looking Castle rebuild imo. Thanks for making it all those years ago
Is this doable on Xbox? How do you raise and lower items? Also I don’t think the concrete blocks would build in the areas he’s using them on Xbox. I expect it’s PC with mods
I've started fortifying my settlements with concrete walls, on top of the defense structures that I already build. Those consist of the 4-post floor/ceiling wood pieces, all around the perimeter of the settlement, leaving just enough room for the 1/4 floor planks you used for turrets (I use them for the same thing). This was very cool. Thanks.
how many fucking shots what that even be too many is what. *Walks up to Preston while showing off his Fatman launcher* Preston: an other settlement needs your help. What the fuck did you just say KABOOM!!!!!
+CB9611 You can use the half blocks, the ones you used to place the laser turrets on, to move the stairs over one half block. This will allow you to get the two wide doorway at exactly the right height.
Dillon Leclair Fill up the room at the very end of the castle hallway (the one with the doors) with generators. Power lines already run along the walls so just hook the generators together and connect one to the conduit outside the room. You can even close the door with the wire in the way.
After 10 castle builds, the best way to start and get straight walls is to use the shack staircase with floors. Line this up against the path on the ground on the inside of the wall, then snap a concrete foundation block to that. The wall is basically two blocks and a concrete wall section wide, so if you place the blocks to blend with the inside wall, another layer outside and then use various wall sections and pillars to get a smooth outer surface.
One of best videos on youtube, you took care about our castle as good as you could. Now it’s time to take care about other settlements that needs your help. I’ll mark it on your map.
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for -- I am so stupid with building so I really needed this assistance in building the castle. Just wanted to say THANK YOU for taking the time to make this!!!!
Hi, wanted to thank you. Thanks to this video I've come up with some new build ideas for the castle. One thing, the turrets have this NASTY ability to turn and fire on settlers if attackers get inside the walls...missile turrets *shudder*. On one of my playthroughts the turrets killed more settlers than the Institute synths did......ouch
Right, because 1 rocket blast takes out everyone sleeping at the front gate. Good place for barrack would probably be in the armory because it cant be mortared and its protected by being inside the walls. Out in the open is too exposed and in the middle again could have grenades thrown over walls or other mortars/theoretically
i get it: a shack in the courtyard. but....inside the castle walls are two large ass rooms (excluding the "kitchen")....why not jam a bunch a beds in one of them rooms and just build a little room for your radio guy (forget his name, i forget everyones name). then, on top of the walls build a greenhouse for your "food" (if not planning to supply), power the pre-wired supplied water purifier and you're golden. i hid my power generator in the walls i made. why food on walls? why not? harder for bad guys to get at. fortify the pre-made entrance with three guard posts inside and copious turrets outside. with ingenuity, one can even setup a door that closes the entrance when the settlement attack alarm goes off (using nand logic gate). if you don't want your missile turrets to kill your settlers, ensure they point away from your settlers, and that ALL of your settlers have jobs and properly outfitted and armed. k, that was longer than i anticipated. back to my regularly scheduled fo4 vid binge
I only now started to get bored of fallout 4 and wanted to start making my world look amazing and that's how I ended up here. And I gotta say... I don't think the perfection is annoying. It's actually satisfying to see everything being perfect. Like perfectly allighned :)
Never seen more satisfying video about this game, than wathching the holes in the minuteman's walls finaly repaired! My internal perfectionist is ecstatic =). It was quite ingenious to use a "shack floor" block as a concrete cube!

Here is an option but you probably already know this... Get the scrap everything mod... As you scrap things in your settlement, youll notice your build size kind of increases. Allowing you to build more onto your settlement. (I think that's what I'm trying to say)
The last time I played Fallout 4 was at least five years ago. Now that I started Fallout 3 again it was natural to me to want to play F4 next and this time I'll download mods to make the settlements part more pleasant, it was basically the part I liked the least. It looked too basic and bugged sometimes but thanks to this amazing community and your videos it's going to be much more enjoyable. Thank you and thanks to anybody contributing to make these games so much better 👍
Used to make mine completely out of concrete from wasteland workshop, they had enterable interiors but took ages to set up properly. Glad I found this so I can do a quick build if I make new saves
To have unlimited building size u don’t need mods ! Just do the following: Build any electrical device that u can wire it to another electric device...then link them together with wires (they cost zero materials) then basically highlight the wire and store it ! This will allow u to build one more item...but you have to open a secondary menu which shows the items (not the categories of the items) ! That’s the key to it...then u can basically keep the repeating the same process over and over as long as you have a device near by to make it quick and easy 😃 Hopefully it helps !
at the 12:50 time mark i went with a turret post built into the wall. i made a concrete platform to fill the uneven floor out and put in a concrete a tint bit over the floor in front of the blocks and put in 2 Machine gun turrets covering that bit of wall. i like the solid wall look you went with too though
i prefer not building anything but defenses on top of the castle walls, i fixed up the walls and used concrete stuff for barracks aligning them with the walls next to the armory. if you line them up right, you could even get a spacious room inside the broken wall for a extension of the barracks.
I'm on my first play through and just retook the castle. I haven't built it up yet but I so excited to use your ideas to fix the walls! Thanks for the easy to follow and quick, no bs tutorial!
@J M oh that's good to know (and thanks for the spoiler)! I'll probably side with the railroad this time... but I recently got into the institute and am working on liberty prime so I can finish Danse's quest for his perk.
Warehouse steel stairs are so useful My Castle looks a bit like this but has some differences - I use warehouse foundations because they're more bricky and I keep the original gateway. But I make a stairway over the wall where you put your main gate. I also keep barracks and kitchens inside the original walls - safer.
If you put down a power pylon it will power the light bulbs. You don’t need to connect a wire to the light bulb. Just place down a light bulb and close to the bulb (just outside or inside the shack, house, etc.) place the power pylon and wire the pylon up to a generator
+CB9611 ohhhhhh BTW great channel every video helps me so much right when I got to the castle is was like fuck this settlement until I watched this lol and do you have Skype if so add me NukeObeyHacks
how can he place his structures like that without them being red he’s able to just completely free place his structures and without them becoming red and not allowing you to place it?
Watching you do this got me so impressed. That's my favorite shelter (the Castle) I could nvr build it up in the past but the way you doing it looks like it was done by a professional 😮
@@harleyokeefe5193 I ran out of caps so I resorted to stealing stuff like scales and going to my settlements to scrap everything that wasn't bolted down.
my first and only playthrough i went in hard and got 80% completion after all dlcs were out. not played for years so considering a new playthrough and in my first i used that first opening as the main entrance too! never had problems with it and is a nicer entrance, just put more turrets at the 'main' one everyone says is the main one and you got a decent backdoor too.
Thanks, now my castre are a farming gulag, i make alot settlers cultivate alot mutfruits. With that i turn my minuteman into a self sufficient faction.
(Xbox One player) I'm not good at fixing or building things in reality or fiction; I used your video as a tutorial. I tried exactly your way but I ended up just walling up the first one. I tried, in using the same material but objects didn't click, so I used different ones. I ended up putting 22 beds with containers and lights in my first barrack at the Castle. My second 'barracks', I made into a two story loft with 12 beds for me and my various 'partners' throughout the game. Since I pick up everything I come across, the second one looks awesome inside.
Now I know this might sound pretty dumb but I just started playing fallout 4 and I'm kinda new to the whole building thing, but is he using mods to be able to place some/most of the "walling"
That's where I put my main gate to. I also made a 8 story building at the drive in and it's has a retail power armor dealership on the bottom floor. Living quarters on the 2nd and 3rd floor. 5th floor is a bar and dance hall.

Preston Garvey you're Preston garvey, you should know
Preston Garvey QUINCY?
I thought it was max 20 people per settlement?
umairrrr nope
Preston Garvey
Love to see other ideas! I used concrete foundation for the walls but adding the flooring to it is genius! Nice man.
To have unlimited building size u don’t need mods !
Just do the following:
Build any electrical device that u can wire it to another electric device...then link them together with wires (they cost zero materials) then basically highlight the wire and store it !
This will allow u to build one more item...but you have to open a secondary menu which shows the items (not the categories of the items) ! That’s the key to it...then u can basically keep the repeating the same process over and over as long as you have a device near by to make it quick and easy 😃 Hopefully it helps !
Mr OutLaw You can also drop your guns and store them. It has the same result
"I received news from a settlement that needs your help, but I got my hands full here. I'll mark it on your map."
Preston : "Good Building General, but there's a settlement that needs your help..."
This is fun to watch i dont have fallout4 but it's fun
at the 12:50 time mark i went with a turret post built into the wall. i made a concrete platform to fill the uneven floor out and put in a concrete a tint bit over the floor in front of the blocks and put in 2 Machine gun turrets covering that bit of wall.
i like the solid wall look you went with too though
i prefer not building anything but defenses on top of the castle walls, i fixed up the walls and used concrete stuff for barracks aligning them with the walls next to the armory. if you line them up right, you could even get a spacious room inside the broken wall for a extension of the barracks.
what's the count on how many times this guy says perfect or perfectly
C Holder error 6428: number limit exceded
Or snap.
What about "actually"?
Duck McDuckinson Actually, I don't know.
C Holder Just like that
Right there
There you go
I like the friendly feel to your videos and you have enough Fallout 4 content. You have a new sub! OwO
Thanks ^_^
How do you get so much building space? mine is already full after just rebuilding the walls
+TheKevsterNL ruclips.net/video/XJXcByg8Rxc/видео.html
I'm pretty sure he made a vid on it
+CB9611 Thanks!
Hey i have a question how did u remove all those bushes. When you come to the caste the first time it's full of it
i took the place by my self i don't need no minutemen :D
I'm on my first play through and just retook the castle. I haven't built it up yet but I so excited to use your ideas to fix the walls! Thanks for the easy to follow and quick, no bs tutorial!
@J M oh that's good to know (and thanks for the spoiler)! I'll probably side with the railroad this time... but I recently got into the institute and am working on liberty prime so I can finish Danse's quest for his perk.
Warehouse steel stairs are so useful
My Castle looks a bit like this but has some differences - I use warehouse foundations because they're more bricky and I keep the original gateway. But I make a stairway over the wall where you put your main gate.
I also keep barracks and kitchens inside the original walls - safer.
This dude saved my castle thx
very good video and thanks for the help. but the walls are a pain to get right
Jeff oops white?
Jeff oops right?
Jerry Logan rite?
What?
Weight?
Imatryhard raged quit because he couldn’t line up the foundation lmao
If you put down a power pylon it will power the light bulbs. You don’t need to connect a wire to the light bulb. Just place down a light bulb and close to the bulb (just outside or inside the shack, house, etc.) place the power pylon and wire the pylon up to a generator
I agree with you i'm an OCD freak when it comes to building stuff, Especially in Fallout.
Me: I repaired the castle tunnels!
everybody: How, and with what
Me: With power armor
Hh ha I dont get it???? !!!
just figured out how he doesn't run out of supply store he stored everything from his first base to make a tutorial
I was doing this on my PC version, I just prefer to play Fallout with my Xbox controller.
+CB9611 ohhhhhh BTW great channel every video helps me so much right when I got to the castle is was like fuck this settlement until I watched this lol and do you have Skype if so add me NukeObeyHacks
+CB9611 wait wait wait if you were playing pc why were you getting Xbox 1 notifications
Nuke Obey
Ohhh, I forgot, I recorded me building the walls on Xbox but the rest of the miniseries was recorded on PC. My bad.
+CB9611 it's ok do you have skypw
how can he place his structures like that without them being red he’s able to just completely free place his structures and without them becoming red and not allowing you to place it?
A mod or something?
snapping new structure to already existing one can allow you to clip through.
Watching you do this got me so impressed. That's my favorite shelter (the Castle) I could nvr build it up in the past but the way you doing it looks like it was done by a professional 😮
I wish the PS4 had these structures. Nice build.
Any tips on how to get concrete without buying it from vendors?
Find it, or scrap buildings
Drew Zaio vault tech dlc
Glitch
Look up a video and they’ll tell you where to get sixteen bags of concrete
Concrete is cheap to buy about bottle cap a unit
this person is a genius
let's build a wall
The Feminist hater
I got an ad with Trump in it for this video
NEGAN A wall around Donald Duck
It might actually happen keep your fingers crossed!
@@MachineRot More like a fence now
@Jacob McMahan The native Americans should have built a wall, no?
This video was a lot of help. I'm not restoring the castle but I am building a wall around spectacle island and this helped
Thanks so much for the no nonsense, no click bait, helpful video. I wish all youtubers could be like this. I’m dropping a sub.
Minutemen: Never to come to your assistance at a moment's notice.
I spent two hours gathering reasorses so I could have an artillery peice at each bastion
Why
I couldn't find springs for the life of me.
@@saudade7842 ye they where the hardest part for me too I literally just went around buying them
@@harleyokeefe5193 I ran out of caps so I resorted to stealing stuff like scales and going to my settlements to scrap everything that wasn't bolted down.
@@saudade7842 same 😂 i literally ripped sanctuary apart
Anyone know where he put the power generator?
Up me arse
the castle has a generater room it will fir 3 fusion generators but you only need 2 then use the wiring thats all ready there
my first and only playthrough i went in hard and got 80% completion after all dlcs were out. not played for years so considering a new playthrough and in my first i used that first opening as the main entrance too! never had problems with it and is a nicer entrance, just put more turrets at the 'main' one everyone says is the main one and you got a decent backdoor too.
Thanks, now my castre are a farming gulag, i make alot settlers cultivate alot mutfruits. With that i turn my minuteman into a self sufficient faction.
He-he, give it some cool name like Fort Kickass!
i can't seem to line it up like yours. i don't see why i can't do it.. :l
You just gotta play with it a little. Like he said.
thats what she said.
You mean you don't find it funny, that doesn't mean that nobody should find it funny...
I find that funny.. just saying
Gaaaad if there was co-op in fallout4
(Xbox One player) I'm not good at fixing or building things in reality or fiction; I used your video as a tutorial. I tried exactly your way but I ended up just walling up the first one. I tried, in using the same material but objects didn't click, so I used different ones. I ended up putting 22 beds with containers and lights in my first barrack at the Castle. My second 'barracks', I made into a two story loft with 12 beds for me and my various 'partners' throughout the game. Since I pick up everything I come across, the second one looks awesome inside.
Two years on and this vid is still helping. Thanks mate x
Now I know this might sound pretty dumb but I just started playing fallout 4 and I'm kinda new to the whole building thing, but is he using mods to be able to place some/most of the "walling"
*facepalms*
7:20 I got fast forwarded right into a tacky commercial.
8:33 I just cant line them up jeez
That's where I put my main gate to. I also made a 8 story building at the drive in and it's has a retail power armor dealership on the bottom floor. Living quarters on the 2nd and 3rd floor. 5th floor is a bar and dance hall.
14:15 use small stairs for spaces like that. It worked for me
