I use the pressure plates in junction with the various "scave stations" as a means of production regulation so there not running 24/7 which also ads some immersion. Looks like a settler is running the line during the work day. You can also set up another vac hopper to turn on when the line is off to pull the unused stuff back out of the manufacture and back into the container or into the workshop.
Restarted playing FO4 since it came out. I only did the story back in the day and 30 hours in I’m realizing how much I missed. Your videos are awesome and great 👍
My main use for the manufacturing was crafting .44 ammo. Normally the standard vendors would only have a few dozen rounds, and the unlisted vendors like the woman near Fairline Hill Estates still only had 100 shots. With the ammunition plant though I could craft a 1,000 rounds for myself and use that to take on the entire Commonwealth.

Great great video man. I love the way you explain everything. Been watching you for a while now (since right before you started the NMSC) and you always amaze me with your ideas. Keep up the good work man. I can’t wait to see what else you’re able to figure out
A good design I use (IMO) is to have multiple manufacturing plants drop their output into a single hopper from elevated slopes and belts, and that hopper drops items onto a belt that carries it to a storage unit. Then all my stuff just goes to one place! The big hopper is a pretty useful item for collating everything together. It's finicky to set up, but so satisfying if you pull it off! Great intro, man.
Your videos are awesome and very well explained. I love watching them. I've used the ammo plant, noticed it only runs when ur actually AT the settlement. Thank you for another great lesson Paul!🐱🐈
Thanks a bunch Maiden Kitty! And yeah, I think any sort of animation stops when you leave the loading cell. Somehow your settlements can still make money from shops when you're gone, so they should've factored that in.

Thank you for showing this, I assumed it just automatically pulled the ingredients from my workshop, I never got far into building my ammunition factory in the castle.
This is what many were waiting for good job man, I'm sure some on has said it but the vacuum hopper can also pull straight from the work bench as well. Little note didn't get a chance to watch the whole video at the time of comment because of work so you may have said it later on.
I’m late as hell but I finally got to download every add on and add mods and update my game ty for your very useful tips I spend time more building then playing the game itself
Hey man, as an fyi you only have to power one machine in the line to supply them all. Took me awhile to figure that out but it's helpful to know. Love the videos BTW! You have some great builds going on. Keep it up!
Thanks man! And yeah, one wire will supply all the power _as long as_ they're physically connected. But sometimes you'll need breaks in the connection like I had in this little configuration. That's when you'll need multiple wires.
This is one of the BEST video I have ever seen on RUclips explaining something that is both complex and unknown by game players. God Bless your articulation and explanations of everything. Its a PERFECT video! (+1 Sub)
If you just go to the castle, place water purifiers by the dozen, in the water. Place a bed and workshop in the castle armory, you can buy a ton of ammo from the minutemen lady with waters and sleep to reset her inventory and do over and over.
I have unlimited resources thanks to an exploit I’m using on the achievements run I didn’t side with the Garvy boys so the castle is still unavailable so I just have five ammo plants popping out the ammo and since it’s overstocked I have more ammo then I could possibly need, working on the dlc achievements for nukacola world and far harbor now
From what I have seen (tested), each manufacturing line has to be isolated in a closed loop, meaning they must each be powered by their own generator(s) and not connected to another line (if you wish to run multiple lines at a time) or the terminals will be in conflict with one another and won't initialize the option sequence. For those of us who wants functionality over form, I recommend inputting resources straight into the builder and not wasting resources building a vacuum hopper as it takes way too long to carry from container to hopper and into builder.
1:52 I made a gates like this in few of my Settlements as well. But I decided with the Inside-only Switch. Because if I'm already going to o any of the Settlements, I do so thought Fast-Travel (and I have F-T set up inside the Settlements).
That's crazy cool, has no idea you could do these sorta things in fallout 4. I've been playing like a "simpleton" so to speak. It was kinda fun yet boring. This definitely has my intrigued, I may be dusting off the old Xbox one and building wild settlements 🤘
the vacuum hoppers cannot pull items from other settlements out of the workbench, that are connected via a supply line. it would be awesome if that would work (on the one hand to have all items in one place, on the other hand to lower the chances for attacks in the other settlements), but unfortunately it doesn't work.
Great video as always. I messed with the machines a little bit. I am always running low on ammo for the last minute. Just couldn't figure out which containers were to be used. Thanks a million.
Ah yes, the 2mm EC is perfect for the ammo plant. You need Gun Nut 4 for that, but if you have that then that's a great source. It still might be cheaper to buy the ammo from a vendor. But when I had Cait using a Flaming Gauss rifle I was always running low on her ammo too.
Iv been watching him for a minute he is a cool guy and knows what hes doing for most of everything that's just my opinion from looking through his window 😂 lol
I love it you the RUclipsr that need to make mods reviews and stuff your good at what you do you explain every detail that is appropriate for the time you ready for your good at it i love it keep it up man im new and im already love this Channel
I like using my hopper to pull stuff straight out of the workshop, using sorters to only pull the items I need into the manufacturers and send the rest to the workshop for another pull-through.
I have spent exactly zero time actually manufacturing, but I was thinking exactly the same thing once I learned about sorters and such. What do you use to get the unused scrap back INTO the workshop??
@@richardmerchant4998 That might actually be a piece from a mod called Workshop Extended that I thought was a vanilla workshop peice, sorry, but it is a conveyer end that stores everything in the workshop.
@@christopherthompson8609 Hey, no worries. I was just happy to actually see a comment from a day ago, as opposed to a year ago. Haha. I would only set up one settlement with manufacturing currently, so my plan was to just have the unused scrap cycle back within a very close proximity to my workbench anyway, and just do a manual (Take All) and (Store All Junk) periodically. Once I beat the game without mods, I plan on dosing up heavy, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for that in the future!
Paul, i'd love to see you do a wall-clipping restoration video of Croup Manor. it's an excellent site for wall-clipping and makes a great example of how to restore a pre-war building. [edit] i wanted to suggest that armor, clothing, and weapon mills are really good for outfitting your large numbers of settlers if you are going for themed outfits.
the clipping on taffington is really difficult, but you can re-roof it with the warehouse roof and it looks pretty reasonable, when i did this i added a balcony around the top floor. Croup however has a uniquely low clipping rate on the walls and you can actually almost entirely restore it without using the pillar or rug glitches.
I know I'm VERY late, but in my experience, supply lines don't connect the inventories of settlements, it just lets them pull from their junk pools for crafting and building. So if you have a settlement you never do manual crafting at, you can put the vaccume hopper on the worshop to allow for fully automatic crafting.
21:22 mind blown 🤯 I cannot wait to figure out what you mean. Did you ever do a video about this? About how a vacuum hopper can suck items like food and water from supply lines connected settlements, basically teleporting them to where the hopper is at? That seems like it could be useful. Normally, you can only use supply lines to access for crafting. But if i could actually get the items themselves, physically, that could be useful. Just brainstorming, but if you could hopper teleport Purified Water from connected settlements, then i could set up a water farm, and pull out the water using Hangman’s vacuum , and sell it in DC. That could be huge. Especially since water stops getting added into the workbench after a certain threshold. So if I could empty all my water farms from one vacuum, i wouldn’t have to periodically empty every workbench. I’m always playing on Survival, so the time savings from not running to them all would be huge.
I was mainly talking about those things as ingredients for things that might be able to be manufactured. But to keep everything in a more controlled environment, I don't use the Workshop bench for my vacuum hopper.
@@SkooledZone I tested it, and I don’t think a vacuum hopper can suck a workbench, and teleport in stuff from other supply lines connected workbenches. Unless I was doing it wrong.

This is what many were waiting for good job man, I'm sure some on has said it but the vacuum hopper can also pull straight from the work bench as well.
Little note didn't get a chance to watch the whole video at the time of comment because of work so you may have said it later on.
Haha, thanks Aaron. I did say it later on, at about 21:00. But good lookin' out!
this was so cool! a terminal is what i was missing. now to make ammo for my fave gun!
HOORAY!!! I can wait for more! I always look forward to a new class!
Pilot Knight I’m not nitpicking but... you CAN wait for more?
Well, good on you for being patient 😂
I’m late as hell but I finally got to download every add on and add mods and update my game ty for your very useful tips I spend time more building then playing the game itself
Just want to say. Keep up the good work . Love watching your videos I always get. A lot ideas . And playing without mod Isn’t easy ..
I like how you got the direction of the top level belts and fireworks manufacturer wrong, and then sneakily switched them in between cuts.
It was already long enough of a video ;-)
Hey man, as an fyi you only have to power one machine in the line to supply them all. Took me awhile to figure that out but it's helpful to know. Love the videos BTW! You have some great builds going on. Keep it up!
Thanks man! And yeah, one wire will supply all the power _as long as_ they're physically connected. But sometimes you'll need breaks in the connection like I had in this little configuration. That's when you'll need multiple wires.
Thank you, I was intimidated by this add-on. Its appreciated bro, once again thanks.
👍
Back again in 2024
This is one of the BEST video I have ever seen on RUclips explaining something that is both complex and unknown by game players. God Bless your articulation and explanations of everything. Its a PERFECT video! (+1 Sub)
Hey I really appreciate that. Glad to have you on board!
Gday! Always go for your vids when I’m lost about this game lol, brilliant video, brilliant explanation, thanks!!
Glad to hear it!
The best things about this game is Dogmeat and the creativity in the customization. The possibilities are endless. Well done >:0
Love this series bud!. Great work bro keep em coming.👍
Hey thanks Ricky!
I have been manufacturing my own ammo on my achievement cleanup run I’ve been doing and it is such a tremendous help keeping myself stocked on ammo.
Woot! I been waiting for this lesson!

I made a gates like this in few of my Settlements as well.
But I decided with the Inside-only Switch.
Because if I'm already going to o
any of the Settlements, I do so thought Fast-Travel (and I have F-T set up inside the Settlements).
I have been waiting for this lesson❤
Great tutorial, well done!
Glad it was helpful!
i highly appreciate the short attention span out
Can’t wait to see those reveals!
Bro you deserve a million subs
I really appreciate that. =D
@@SkooledZone though question do you think you could make some playlists for fo4 sorting the different dlc's?
I love it you the RUclipsr that need to make mods reviews and stuff your good at what you do you explain every detail that is appropriate for the time you ready for your good at it i love it keep it up man im new and im already love this Channel
👍
I know its 2020 im watching this i don't care you done good in it😂😂😂
I like using my hopper to pull stuff straight out of the workshop, using sorters to only pull the items I need into the manufacturers and send the rest to the workshop for another pull-through.
Really good stuff. Thanks for making things simple and clear
Croup Manor and Taffington Boat house are both on my list for restoration! Man I can't wait until I make videos every day. :)
the clipping on taffington is really difficult, but you can re-roof it with the warehouse roof and it looks pretty reasonable, when i did this i added a balcony around the top floor.
Croup however has a uniquely low clipping rate on the walls and you can actually almost entirely restore it without using the pillar or rug glitches.
Went back to old school.. I'm going to do a run with no mods. Re installing fallout 4 tonight
Nice! And you'll have the opportunity to do this as well: ruclips.net/video/rBYjusRuEIE/видео.html
Hold on 10 more visits to diamond city
Thanks for the tutorial SUPER HELPFUL
I on pc and don't like to play with mods. your videos are such amazing tips for who also want to enjoy everthing in this game. tnx
Glad you like them Lucan!
Awesome Job Paul! Love it!
Much appreciated Justin!
Great video, loved the extra credit in there too,
👍
Keep doing what your doing I love you man
21:22 mind blown 🤯 I cannot wait to figure out what you mean.
