Thank you for this! I just got into FO4 for chiefly the settlement building, so videos like this are a godsend. I’ve rage quit a couple of times due to trying to fix up the ceilings/roofs and floors of sanctuary in the last couple of weeks. But videos like this make it actually fun! So thank you.

Hopefully they don’t change anything with the upcoming update. I love rebuilding atm. It’s kinda meditative 🙌🏻 Edit: I only got that deep into building because of ur sanctuary build. So inspiring, now I‘m fixing walls, reroofing, it’s kinda crazy like learning illustrator or photoshop just in Fallout. I even bought a new pc to increase the size of my buildings. I share the same fear. There are even a lot more settlement glitches that were not shown here. I really hope Bethesda does not screw them up or try to make building more like 76.
@@CNXMedia what does that mean for settlement building? The creation kit is the tool that allows people to make mods and adjustments to the game, I haven't read anywhere they are changing settlement building specifically. I'm banking on them being extremely lazy and incompetent to be doing that at all.
Man, I love how your settlements look alive, I just wish I could see it more, and that is one complaint that I have... at 18:12 when you were going back to your settlement you pointed your camera at floor just when I was hoping to see your settlement in all it's glory. That was really such a bummer for me. Love the bus build at the end.
Mechanist Lair -Dark, foggy, and isolated. -Keep Codsworth as a Alfred type. -Dedicated corners for Weapons display and workbench. -A ring of Armor mannequins for your suits. -Eyebot Station, Terminal, and other tech objects in another corner. -Since ML is a interior settlement, you can decorate with items as much as you want without them falling though floor.
Modding really ruined settlement building. The limits in place made all the glitches and snapping techniques to be used imaginatively. Mods made settlements deeply boring because people could just build anything. I appreicate you teachihg people the techniques to build without mods. After years I can create some great structures. Buildings that look like Bethesda made them with the tools they have available to them. At some point I plan to make some mini-build tutorials, but I'm just too busy with work most of the time. OR I'm playing Fallout. The biggest tip I can give is: Learn the order than items can snap, this will allow you to create far more intricate structures that remain inline with the relative snapping grid. Because if you glitch too many items in place, it makes snapping anything together next to impossible without continuing to use glitches.
I don't think mods ruined building, quite the opposite really, but I have my own personal reasons for sticking with vanilla and based on the comments alot of people do as well. Should I make a video on this? I would love to see mini build tutorials! its what I tried to do with the bus build at the end. And yes snap build order is very important!
@@OrangeSqueasy Id love a video on why you stick to vanilla, I have found your vids so inspiring since I have never really done any settlement stuff before. I do play with mods though as they have become a crutch for my building.
@@OrangeSqueasy I guess I'm a little overzealous about the mod aspect of settlement buiding, but in my eye sits a bit like old school programming, in that what developers program with the PS5/XBSX today isn't anywhere as interesting as what people were doing with 8 bit, 16 bit or 32/64 bit gaming. Stringent limits being put in place can create some genuinely interesting hurdles for creators to come up with great ways to overcome them. I don't begrudge anyone using mods, but it just makes for less interesting settlement videos in my eyes. I've got a simple mini-build video showing how to create Bethesda's rounded metal shack on Spectacle Island uploading right now, so that will be live soon. This will be the kind of videos I will try to upload more of. I'm not great at finding the time for making videos, so my channel is either completely chaotic streams or very short videos. But I've written a plan for a number of short Fallout 4 short videos.
@@radconx being honest here, I'm really not interested in modded builds either, takes away the challenge and fun out of it. Of course as a content creator I'm just trying to avoid unnecessary drama from any potential taken out of context comments.
@@OrangeSqueasy Oh yeah, I get the need to avoid upsetting anyone. I think modding is an incredible thing, and some people have created amazing modded settlements, its just something I don't indulge in other than 8 years ago when they added mods into console versions and I dabbled in settlement mods for a bit. I lost the lustre for creating due to that, so I quickly removed those mods. I think the internet can lack diplomacy at times, so I appreciate your tread carefully approach.
i happened to click on this video entirely by chance, and holy hell i am SHOCKED that there were so many immensely useful mechanics in the game for settlement building this whole time that i had no idea about! This video just changed the game for me. I am not being dramatic when I say this. I had NO CLUE you could do half of this. Thank you so much for sharing all of this!
Excellent vid 👌 The camp fire & the item proofing are new to me (after 6000+ hours of FO4 😂) With the settlement limit, mine happens "naturally" I don't like having heaps of various junk in my workshops, so I drop all junk items on the ground & scrap them, so I reduce a million items down to a hundred different components 👍😁 It also works with clothing that can't be broken down in armour bench (I think it works in vanilla as well. I play modded, so not 100% sure) Also: the item drop when removing the rug can "usually" be avoided if you place it, exit build, quick save, reload THEN remove the rug
As someone who's never bothered to glitch placing objects, pulling off even the ashtray glitch feels amazing. And I never would've known without this video, thank you!
Broooo! Thank you so fkn much for making this! Settlements always bothered me since I couldn’t perfectly line up floors with foundations. That Pillar height glitch is genius!

Nice helpfully video, thanks. I enjoy the settlement building too. One trick I have used is with the fast travel rug. Example: at Oberland Station I have living quarters built in the lower level. That rug will pass through the wall, so just place it inside with a little outside so most of the rug is inside. Now I can fast travel to the inside. Then install a floor, walls, and furniture. Leave a small gap or door to pass through to the outside.
I was watching your hangman's alley tour to get inspiration for my own build when I stumbled on this tutorial, gotta say this is going to be a lifesaver for making a really good build, thanks!

I hope the traction you'll get with this video encourages people to check out your older videos with all the amazing settlements builds you've done, they're trully something else.
All around great and solid tips; sadly very few videos made on this topic are actually very helpful. Kudos! A few things came to mind: 1) Indeed gamma guns are highly efficient for dealing with build size. I'm not sure since I haven't experimented with it enough, but I think (based on my current somewhat limited experience) baseball bats with the highest tiers of rocket addons (gained from Nuka World?) is the only thing that beats gamma guns for this purpose. 2) On getting high Charisma; it's impossible to pull off at startup, but you get +15 from a full Unyielding loadout. Running around with 750+ rads actually isn't all that cumbersome, especially since you can scale your damage off of it as well. 3) I didn't know about the supply line method of moving settlers regardless of your current charisma, thanks! =) There's another way as well, although you cannot choose which settlers you get. If you clear the Automatron questline properly, you get to do radiant missions cleaning up bot patrols and some of these spots will have settler groups which you can recruit and send to any of your owned settlements regardless of current charisma. Cheers!
Awesome video! I'm so glad you did this because I've been getting more questions lately about some of the tips you show off here. Now I can just send them your way! :)
Thanks, that get more settlement space by dropping weapons then storing them worked like a charm, fixed a few settlements having that no space issue... Yes, please expand on everything you mentioned in this video, I'm sure there's a lot of new players noobs, myself included, out there that would really benefit from your experience. I'm especially interested in the Rug and Pole glitch as I'd really like to master those especially... With the new TV Series I'm sure fallout 4 will be refreshed for years to come... Thanks again for taking the time to make such videos... Cheer's....

I get frustrated with settlement building and kind of just started to do the very least to get by like having hole filled roofs, LOL. Going to rethink how I'm doing my settlements now.
I’ve been doing settlement building for years so I already knew all of these, but I love seeing all the new people getting into the settlement system in the comments. As janky as fallout 4 is, I have a big appreciation for what’s there and it’s great seeing others explore it. 😊

Amazing that one of the most detailed and helpful building tip videos would come out almost a decade after the game's release. Thanks for your hard work in helping beautify wastelands everywhere !
You my new favorite RUclipsr on building tips, are a BEAST WITH WHAT YOU TALK ABOUT! This tips are what i was missing. Thank you a lot, do you have a community group were we can show you our progress?
the visual nods and examples while you give instructions are really well done! Gotta be one of the best build videos on YT.
By far the best out of the countless 5000+ building videos I’ve seen. All of schooled zone and more put into one video!!! Plz make more if you have any ideas left. Settlements are my favorite part of fallout 4 and that bus build was badass. Even build ideas would go crazy!! Thanks again for this hard work ❤
Amazing guide, thank you so much. You're builds are genuinely insane. There's one thing having the ability to put them together, and another thing thinking of how to arrange everything. You manage to continue walkways through at levels right the way throughout as well. Incredible!
This is so good edited that should be a perm settlement building tutorial for the game. Really well done
Dude thank you so much for making this fairly comprehensive guide! I am getting back into the game after a few years, and forgot most of this stuff. Rather than dig through a dozen 7+ year old videos, it's really nice to have just a single recent one
Found this video right when I was about to do a junk grind and focus building up some Settlements.
Thank u, helps alot
Your builds are cool and inspiring. I also loved your choice of easy listening music during the final build. Great video
I spent the last 2 days trying to do up sanctuary without mods. I think i can remake everything in a fraction of the time thanks to your tips.
These make the settlement build system worth using.
Good stuff 👍👍
I've been playing fallout for a very long time and this is the best and most useful tips and tricks for building settlements. U rock dude!Thankyou for sharing!
it reallhy is, and concise too
If you use two power conduits connect them, scrap the wire with the item you want built ready in selection and you can keep building, but it doesn’t lower the meter, you just have to keep scrapping wires, or I noticed if you scrap anything with an item you want built. You’re work is amazing thank you for sharing your wisdom
the vertibird segment killed me lol! as well great video about to go get lost in the settlement building sauce!
I thought I knew so much about all these principles already but now I've learned so much more. Thanks for this.
this video popped up on my recommended feed as soon as i hopped off of fallout a few nights ago. decided to give some of the ideas a shot and i've never seen my settlement look so fucking gorgeous. Thank you!
I'm a vet player and one of the things I hated most was items falling out of displays. The rug trick to fall proof items is genius and something new. Thank you for sharing.
Been feeling out of it for a couple days but this vid made me real happy. Idk if ill ever implement the methods you did but this was a mighty fine watch
Maybe my sanctuary build or house of tomorrow build will help cheer u up
Dude, bathesda should hire you to decorate all the houses! Your video and sensational tips are too good
Great work and ideas! Your ideas has opened my eyes to new ways in fixing walls and buildings. What I'd like to see more of, is some towns and little developments that have nice boarded up houses like Concord turned into working towns again.
You're an absolute legend, the tips are greatly appreciated!
This is a great video, thank you so much! You are very good at concisely conveying information without making it feel dry or stiff, I envy that skill! I'm looking forward to see the videos in which you delve deeper into some of the techniques you mentioned.
Wanna say thanks on behalf of all people who suffered with ugly, floating camp objects in the past. Your guide has completely changed the way I build in settlements. Now I no longer have to wiggle around constantly trying to get one thing to fit alongside something else, and I can fix up Castle properly like I wanted to before
Thank you for this! I just got into FO4 for chiefly the settlement building, so videos like this are a godsend. I’ve rage quit a couple of times due to trying to fix up the ceilings/roofs and floors of sanctuary in the last couple of weeks. But videos like this make it actually fun! So thank you.
Its so funny that builders have to gaslight the game to be able to build the way they want
How does this have 800k views when the man is only at 19k subs!? That video was great. I mean, it's easily one of the beat tips videos I have ever watched, and there have been some good ones. Throw him a bone, folks. He deserves it.
So happy to see you post a video!
Yo this video if fuckin great! I’ve watched a bunch of building tutorials and I learned WAY more from this than any other. Great job.
With that post glitch, you can put neon signs/letters basically anywhere. It’s cool to have them on the ground and finding a unique way to get power to them
The most helpful video about settlement builds i find. Thanks a lot!
Based on the wealth of clear & concise information and the professional presentation you deserve more subscribers. Consider me one.
A fallout 4 settlement guide in 2024??? Very nice.
I just watched your one hour video about you strolling and literally didnt move an inch. I hope you make more videos, i love it. Subbed!
How many hours do you have on fallout? "Yes"
This is a very informative video squeasy, I have alot of questions but one specifically comes to mind:
whats going on at 14:57?
The jet will make you jittery
Wow, what an amazingly informative and thorough video! I’ve been playing for at least six years and I learned so much from you. Thank you! ❤
Hopefully they don’t change anything with the upcoming update. I love rebuilding atm. It’s kinda meditative 🙌🏻
Edit: I only got that deep into building because of ur sanctuary build. So inspiring, now I‘m fixing walls, reroofing, it’s kinda crazy like learning illustrator or photoshop just in Fallout. I even bought a new pc to increase the size of my buildings. Last time I checked my sanctuary with 2070RTX on my msi Laptop I had average 18 Fps cause it’s just toooooo huge. Bro u’re just the baddest motherf**** of building I‘ve ever witnessed but since I watched the Fallout show I feel inspired by their builds. Pretty much comparable to urs. Whatever keep it up lad. I have to make some vids on my own which program do u use? Adobe Premier?
Thanks Brotha ✌
I use Powerdirector, just a small price yearly compared to Adobe. Worth for me since I don't do anything crazy editing wise.
I share the same fear. There are even a lot more settlement glitches that were not shown here. I really hope Bethesda does not screw them up or try to make building more like 76.
@@TheInsaneShecklador oh god pls no. NNOOOOOOOOO
Bad news I just red they’re fixing the creation kit. Officially confirmed by Bethesda Germany. Oh dear. It was a pleasure.
My channel is filled with builds, Sanctuary included
Bro, can you give me an idea about a bat cave?
Mechanist Lair
-Dark, foggy, and isolated.
@@OrangeSqueasy The Mechanist's Lair was my first idea, The second was Vault 88. Thank you very much friend, and hello from Russia
Dude , underground batcave...Use nuka cola crafting station on a floor with sinkable stairs next to it, groupselect and sink, use station, tadaaa.
You are smooth with it my guy! Fantastic video at the end too!
someone who also says the pc controls 😘
Man these vids are coming at the perfect time, makes me antsy to get back into FO4 and just goof around
i happened to click on this video entirely by chance, and holy hell i am SHOCKED that there were so many immensely useful mechanics in the game for settlement building this whole time that i had no idea about! I have no qualms with modding my games and i participate in it sometimes but most of the time i would honestly rather play without mods, so this video is lifechanging. i will now be binging this entire channel, thank you orange squeasy 😂
I play modded, so not 100% sure)
Also: the item drop when removing the rug can "usually" be avoided if you place it, exit build, quick save, reload THEN remove the rug
That Uncle Ruckus theme caught me off guard 8:28 and I just had to subscribe for that alone.
Started playing fallout 4 recently because of the fallout show and got addicted to the settlement mechanic. This video’s going to make my life so much easier, thank you!
Also I would love to see your video on “barnacle building” as I love doing that too!
You are the only person to explain the pillar vs rug glitch! Thank u! I was so frustrated with my walls lol
I was watching your hangman's alley tour to get inspiration for my own build when I stumbled on this tutorial, gotta say this is going to be a lifesaver for making a really good build, thanks!
This was so helpful. I was confused about when I should be using the rug or pillar. And the break to watch the vertabird crash was like recess during school...lmao. Thank you man...got my sub.
This is incredible, I've been playing for so many years now. All the way back to New vegas and I just learned about the rug glitch and now this?! I've got too upgrade everything and make things better thank you for this awesome help. Your a lifesaver man.
I watch many YT videos in my niche and in the game one... Dude.. loved this so much. Thank you for all the tips and I love your editing style. Ya earned my sub for sure.
This is my first run thru FO4 your base is so nice and your ideas and tricks are mind blowing. I feel more overwhelmed 😂 gotta keep watching build videos I guess.
Ahhh the legend is back with a very helpful vid
It’s because of you I made a beautiful sanctuary hills
I hope the traction you'll get with this video encourages people to check out your older videos with all the amazing settlements builds you've done, they're trully something else.
The collision glitch has made my store concepts become unstoppable
This is brilliant
Super helpful. Ive been avoiding building at all costs due to, mostly, the lack of being able to clip things. So this is really neat!
All around great and solid tips; sadly very few videos made on this topic are actually very helpful. Kudos!
A few things came to mind:
1) Indeed gamma guns are highly efficient for dealing with build size.
lol
Thanks, that get more settlement space by dropping weapons then storing them worked like a charm, fixed a few settlements having that no space issue... Yes, please expand on everything you mentioned in this video, I'm sure there's a lot of new players noobs, myself included, out there that would really benefit from your experience. I'm especially interested in the Rug and Pole glitch as I'd really like to master those especially... With the new TV Series I'm sure fallout 4 will be refreshed for years to come... Thanks again for taking the time to make such videos... Cheer's....
I love that you drop the most impressive no-mod Sanctuary build ever made a year ago when not many people were playing FO4 at the time, and now to making one of the best guides for settlement building at the time everyone is playing again because of the show.
Awww, you answered so many questions I had for such a long time. Thank you mate!
Dude youre amazing for this video this has literally been a game changer. I can finally build what ive been TRYING to
*I've never played a Fallout game, let alone any game from Bethesda Studios, yet I intently watched this entire 40 minute video*
That’s me with Lego Star Wars speed runs
I've been playing the game on/off for 6 years and watched other videos but still learned quite a bit from your video. I get frustrated with settlement building and kind of just started to do the very least to get by like having hole filled roofs, LOL. Going to rethink how I'm doing my settlements now.
I honestly appreciate the pause to watch the battle. As soon as the first explosion happened I was like damn I really wanna see how this plays out
the stop to watch all that mayhem was beautiful hahaha, great video!
I’ve been doing settlement building for years so I already knew all of these, but I love seeing all the new people getting into the settlement system in the comments. As janky as fallout 4 is, I have a big appreciation for what’s there and it’s great seeing others explore it. 😊

Thanks great guide, looking forward to trying them out. When I started replaying, I don't think I anticipated how obsessed I was about to get with settlements. Also commenting to boost.
The gun rack in the display is BRILLIANT. Love how much I’m still learning ❤️
Omg this is the exact video I have been searching for!! I play on ps4 and it's so hard to make a nice settlement with the vanilla game not knowing these tips and where to find things. THANK YOU!! I can't wait to play after work tonight now. ❤😊
holy fuck man ive put about 200 hours into this game in the last 2 months and just learned soo much! I have only watched my old room mate play it in the past, and i never knew about the rug or pillar glitch! This will help me soooo much! I am mostly building and optimizing all 30 settlements before doing any of the main plot missions (then eventually ill get the dlc and do those 7 too). Im also doing any and all side missions as they come naturally. I broke the map into 3rds and am about to hit the bottom 3rd now. I have a couple basic mods that improve settlement building like uso and snappy, but item placement kills me every time, and learning about how to move the item feely made me feel so dumb lol. I love this video man!
That bus build was awesome! Thanks for sharing your creative process!
