- Hey guys, I’m super excited to bring you my first Contraptions Workshop DLC video! And for this first video I thought it would make sense to do a basic overview of every new item in the DLC. This’ll give those of you still wondering if you should buy the DLC a good idea of what you’re paying for. On the other hand, if you’ve already got Contraptions Workshop in the Season Pass, I hope this video provides a basic rundown of how each new item works. Before we begin, I realize this video is a lot longer than my regular content, so I’ve left time stamps in the description below. If you’re looking for something specific, like Machinery and Conveyor Belts towards the end of the video, check the description, click on that time stamp and it will bring you to whatever you’re looking for! So let’s hop into Starlight Drive-In and start building! Enjoy!

Reading the comment section on all these DLC showcase videos, it's become apparent that people absolutely hate the settlement aspect of FO4. Well, I may be in the minority but I happen to love building settlements.
Suave Chiang I hate settlements, lol. We'd probably be enemies in a war lol.
I find the workshop dlc’s a lot but some things are kinda weird to use and he did a sorta shit job of explaining
I also enjoy building settlements
It's not that everyone hates them it's that it has alot of potential that is just wasted and things that should already be in the game you have to pay to get in a dlc
I also love settlement building
Why is everyone bitching about the price? I thinks it's awsome. You get all of this stuff to add to your settlments for 5 bucks. 5 BUCKS PEOPLE. You can make museums, factories, better armories, and so much more!
Predat0r3 and it's good if you can't find a certain type of ammo you can just craft it
I bought all of the dlcs and personally I'd say all of them are worth the money
If only back then they knew about $20 skins today
@@Sgt_Kane yep and I bet they still buy it they might be older but they still nerds 😂
"Don't get crazy, you can't build a fatman"
First heavy weapon option is fatman.
deepdownfear I smell lies
You're amazed that it's only 5 bucks. I'm amazed that this stuff wasn't included in the base game that I paid $60 dollars for.
I can feel a recreation of the Pitt in my starlight drive in
Am i the only one who wants to make a rollercoaster out of the conveyer belts
Hell no
Now I want to
well i made one for raiders and their dead bodies, but i don't think it would be that exiting for a player, unless you used it to move around your settlement, while shooting attackers.
also you would need the upward conveyer ramp mod.
Thanks for using your time to put this out. I know, I know, I’m really late to fallout but my disc broke 5 years ago and I never thought of buying the game again and guess what! You made me buy fallout 4 again so thanks.
I've just finished saving up for an xbox 1, my first ever non-Nintendo gaming console specifically so I can play Fallout 4, and this is really convincing me that dropping a couple hundred dollars on a used console isn't a mistake! Thank you very much for the video!
If you use the firework launcher in Far harbor and launch a clear weather round it will make nice clear blue sky for awhile over the settlement you where you launched it. Adds a whole new look to the settlements in Far Harbor. Also it's nice to use when you are building and it's raining or radiation storm you can make it a nice clear weather.
17:27 I use my balls to power machines all the time. XD
lol
Lol
Nice vid man. I think this is one of the longest videos I have watched in a long time. 👍
I discovered that Elevators and elevator conveyors are based on a 10' or 12' height system and not the normal 8' wall system. To assist in design of your structures always start with the warehouse structural parts before using concrete or wood. This manufacturing system does take getting used to but once you mastered it you are going to love it.
Excellent video! I love the fact that we can finally craft ammunition now.
oh dang a 40 min long vid with no adverts yay :D
Gr8, this will help me out! Thanks JV
I only downloaded the contraptions dlc for the weapon racks and scaffolding...
It would be awesome if settlers could pick up weapons from those gun racks when the settlement is been raided. And if they even would return that firearm afterwards.
"Just turn the crank, and snap the plank, and boot the marble right down the chute, now watch it roll and hit the pole, and knock the ball in the rub-a-dub tub, which hits the man into the pan. The trap is set, here comes the net! Mouse trap, I guarantee, it's the craziest trap you'll ever see."
You can go into the junk mortar and fly. It's awesome!
Very nice video, I learned a lot of stuff I didn't even realized, thanks....
nice video. my phone froze at "if you have a lot of balls comin*freeze*" I laughed so hard. then reloaded it. 😂
Everyone's complaining about the cost of the dlc, and I'm just here like 'FUDGE YEA, GREENHOUSES!!'
there green houses
I was more along the lines of "Yes! Finally displays!"
I was more like "YEAH I CAN MAKE PRESTON SUFFER"
Ryaquaza 1 I payed $30 for all the dlcs and the base game
XD
Target toggles should also be nice if you want to start up some kind of system from a distance. Just shoot the toggle.
Mix Scafolding with Junk Fences and you got yourself a pretty good way of making defenses.
Besides the obvious for the manufacturing machines, being just the fun factor, it would be good if they served a legitimate function for your settlements. By that I mean, as an example, the food processor could be used to produce better food items for your settlers. They are assigned to farms, to which they then bring the raw materials to the processor and produce the food items you see listed, & then consume them at their leisure, which in turn increases their happiness. The same goes for other practical necessities like armour and weapons. Basically you set these machines up & your settlers fend for themselves within the confines of your settlement.
Did you know you can scrap those barrels and make the pool not radioactive? I noticed you were taking massive rad hits every time you walked by it.
Great stuff. I love this game! Great video.
Glad you enjoyed! :)
@@jayveeeee 8 years later? Wow 🤩
My favorite new item is the garage door. I've wanted one for such a long time!
I got it and was a bit underwhelmed with it, but I had just used a couple of the bits included with it. After seeing the amount of stuff here in this video I now think of a couple things fort sanctuary could use!
Still yet to work out the actual point of the ball-trap devices, other than eating up my hard scavved supplies!
Are you on xbox or ps4
Yeah, pointless. And the logic gates. Do they aid you in any way in fighting off raiders and securing your settlements?
That small green house that you build actually gave me a idea
thanks
This update is exactly what I was hoping for. I really wanted craftable ammo. I'm gonna turn that huge island off the coast into a massive ammo factory.
Spectacle island? I built a factory for supplies for my minutemen play thru
ONG THIS HELPED ME A LOT!!!
I'm going to do a factory build at starlight. Love your videos always my man.
We need a way to refill fusion cores, with hydrogen or a way to make new ones because lore wise 62 days after the start of fo4 all fusion cores will run out of hydrogen and go cold
Watching that shoddycast I see
of course
Can you just put them in the fusion reactor from wasteland workshop? I thought that's how i lt worked.
no thats a fusion generator it creates 100 power
Good watch, felt it kinda annoying to hear him spam out all that calculation chatter 2x speed though.
I'm loving this dlc so far, the only complaint I have is the size of the elevators. if you want to build an interior elevator you have to use warehouse walls becuse shack and metal walls are too short
You can use the elevators size to make evenly spaced tree house sections
Cuz theres a 3 foot gap between the floors
does this come out with the season pass?
No
Thanks JV! :-)
+JV2017gameplay is this dlc worth it I might buy I just want your opinion
+SuperFunTimeKid yes. Worth it
+The Joker ok
The conduits should let you run power along ceilings or walls, so you don't have to run wires all over the place.
They doooo… just Wi-Fi dem Biscuits
Wow 5 bucks for all that is worth it, this a must have! You make really good videos on fallout 4 keep it up!
It looks way better than I was thinking it was going to be, Will be fun to use when mods come to PS4 since I am low on materials to build with.
"If you wanna use your balls to power some sort of machine..."
The only people complaining about this dlc are people who either have no money because they're children, or... i don't know who else would complain about such a minute amount of money.
I'm a child and I bought it and it's good idk why their complaing they don't have to buy it
I'll tell you why ...because even tho I bought the season pass for $30 I feel like BETHESDA could have done better like logic gates ??? Are u fcking kidding me ??? This isn't my engeniering class this is a fcking game ...a good game which makes it all the worse they would give us such a sht DLC
+Alex - Lender Man Minecraft-esque?
chaseg59 Yes. Minor settlement building things is what i meant.
I wouldn't have bought it if I were buying these separately, but I got the season pass. So I downloaded it and will probably use at least some of it. Haters got to hate.
One thing to note is that the scafolding is slightly smaller than other types of structure. I suspect this is so you can snap walls from other types to it but I have not tested this.
Hey JV, is there any way to break down junk into its components with this DLC? I always break down my junk which takes some time and adds up over time and was wondering if I could just offload it into a hopper and eventually have the components in a chest of something at the end of the line? Thanks!
Great idea..looks great, how do you get the junk out off the workshop so you can use it to make things. if you have to manually put individual items into each build machine .. why bother.. ?
i have a question , i see some settlements with shelves with books , weapons and food cantines which you can build.
but do settlers make use of items which you drop on a shelve or in this dlc you can create food but Does settlers eat that food?? thats my question because otherwise its useless to make settlements with lot of stuf on a table etc...
I really want to see how the new conduits can be used - like just an example of how they're more useful than wires. Honestly they look like a trip hazard to me... XD
Also, those left/right branch conveyor belts...I'm not really sure when or how you would use one? If you mounted the laser trip mine on the conveyor would it be able to detect different objects and divert them? Would I need to keep resetting it?
The Ball Drop contraption somehow reminds me of a Rollercoaster. Maybe Bethesda wants us to practice building them in case we get to build Coasters in Nuka World DLC. We already have the Fireworks and Marquis objects to build in theme parks. Interesting stuff. Thanks for the videos!
no coasters sadly :(
Do you not use Starlight as a settlement?
If not do you only use Sanctuary?
How do you store items in the display cases?
There is no option to transfer anything into them, and I don't want to just drop my items in them for fear of my items disappearing...
I feel it necessary to say that you can indeed create combat armor, even sturdy and perhaps even heavy, by having a high enough armorer skill. The same goes with weapon forges. You cannot create plasma weapons in a forge until you have science level 3, for example. Ammunition works the same, and I'm assuming explosives works the same as well.
Paintball gun and the other new gun operate the targets. Fireworks can change the weather. You can manufacturer ammunition!
Just gotta say..JV2017....thanks for your fallout 4 stuff. keep them coming!! It really helps with the game, you are the "number one Hub" (grins) for all FALLOUT 4 stuff. ..
You can also use scaffolding to make certain buildings and roofs accessible in some areas.
The logic gates are for building computers.
nice job good video lots of info thx
There are 2 new power paints from this DLC, abraxo and sugar bombs
Nice vid! Only it would be nice if you would look into the dlc better next time
You probably know this, but you can salvage the barrels in the little pond at Starlight, which will remove all the radioactive material. I intend on watching the whole video, it is bugging the bejeezus out of me watching your geiger counter hit +8 and +10 when there shouldn't be any radioactivity at all.
the powered counter isn't new. there is no + on it.
true
YES! YES TODD YES! IVE BEEN WANTING AUTOMATED GARAGE DOORS IN MY SETTLEMENT SO MUCH!
love some of this stuff like the weapon racks and warehouse prefabs but if i really want to do more tinkering than tinkering tom id buy those science wiz buildng kits in a box that you'd use to try to win the science fair at school😂😂
they really took building and crafting to a new level
I'll be honest dude, I like the workship dlc, I just wish there was just a little story to em (not like a campaign, but something) like maybe the 1st one was to provide entertainment and fortifications for stable settlements for the minutemen or this one would be about starting your own caravan to provide quality items to settlements and beyond.
did they add more scrap in the game with this DLC?? or is it the same
You do know you can remove those rad barrels in the water there right?
Dude...you completely forgot emergency flares (firework launcher) - does that cause Minutemen to show up or no?
Dislike the comment if you will, as it is only my opinion. I feel like I just spent ~20 minutes (skipping ahead a bit) watching someone talking without actually saying anything. A few things were placed on the ground and then a few more but nothing was really said. I personally think that more preparation may have been a benefit as it seemed like all you really did was read the in game descriptions and plunk stuff on the floor. Thank you for the video none the less, as it gave me a basic idea of what to expect from this DLC.
(edited to correct a typo :o )
All this new stuff will get very nicely with the vault dlc.
I enjoy using the scaffolding to build defense towers. Just place half a dozen heavy guns up there and have fun watching super mutant attacks.
i'm really liking this dlc you even get two new power armor paint jobs out of the deal which is every nice. well worth my five dollars.
Wait what? When did this happen? Is this actually true?
as far as I know its right never saw them there before there is two new T51 paint jobs one is abraxo cleaner & the other is sugar bombs
soooooo nobody can have an opinion? everyone has to be F Bethesda? i'm sorry but that's not how the world works everyone has a different opinion & not everyone will agree & its really pointless to throw out insults it wastes my time & yours.
really? I have to go heck that out later#
check* later!*
What armorer perk you have decides what armor you can craft in the forge. I belive you need armorer 4 for heavy combat armor.
Can you hit the baseballs? I am thinking batting cage and if it was more than superficial that would be awesome.
it would be cool if they added a Scrapper, something that breaks down the items into their base components
are you able to make ammunition in this dlc for ps4 or just xbox and pc?
Snake The Reaper Yes you can.
But not mini nuclear bombs
Snake The Reaper What??? the dlc is always the same no matter what you play on. 😂
I think youre confused with DLC anf mofs. You can download all dlc on ps4 but sorry to tell you that that gold digging console cant support mods. That means all the big boobies and thick ass in fallout 4 youtube videos are exclusive only for pc users. And some mods for xbox aswell.
dlc that your wife / husband is alive and she /he plants revenge against you for losing shaun attacking the minutemen your settlements with vault tec technology which would bring new guns new clothes a new vault with little side quest that your wife / husband found and took over you would also find a new champion the ending would tie to how she or he sees things if you didn't side with institute and destroyed them she or he will support you and would help convince shaun or she or he would be with the institute which would end up you having to kill them
+ViralVidyo Gaming than fuck off you peace of garbage ! little fucking troll you belong in the garbage
Tanner Gibson you did get out little punk
There's a problem with that though. First: Its a bad plot, I'm sorry but it's true. Second: Why would she/he do all that and try to kill you? You do realize they loved each other? I think the rest of the mistakes are obvious tho
Im on xbox one and having issues with the conveyor lift were it just collects items (yes its powered) are there any mods that conflict with this and if so please tell me.
Can you shoot through the glass. Cuz it seems like it'd be great at allowing gunfire through but stopping all grenades..
Great video
For the display cases, you dont need a direct wire, just a conduit or pylon :)
A bathtub works like a great container for the stuff you make. I was practical and made a bunch of ammo of the type I use (.45). I was disappointed that the food machine can't make Dandy Apples or Bubblegum (which are both rare and components of the special types of Vim).
but how do you put items in to the display case? they don't work like the weapon rack.
hey umm question how do I know if I already have all of this crap? do I also need to update my fallout game to a different version or it doesn't really requires that update? please heeeeeelp!!!!
Only problem is that I really want to build so much but my size keeps running out, most mods for "unlimited size" don't work and the glitch to increase the size is tedious.. I guess I'm just being a complaining brat but I really like this
I've seen people make grinding machines that turn entities into scrap and stuff out of these conveyors. How could I do that?
Anyone else having a problem where there is no display section that shows up in the decoration category? I am able to build with everything else, but no armor racks, weapon racks, or power armor displays seem to show up for me.
Does season pass make some DLC free or does it just lower their prices?
All dlc that out and is coming out
Helljumperdubs free..
Discovery this by buying ...
I'm look for this for times, none one respond...
so i hope it still helps.
You could have mentioned that elevators work with barn or warehouse floors not regular ones i.e. concrete or wood . Would have been nice for my 8 level high concrete twin towers but no. Also box cars snap unto other things than just box cars . And I encountered difficulties snapping 4 floor elevators to floors,no problems with 2/3 level ones. Playing on PS4 btw, resulting in having problems with the amount of steel needed, concrete is easy to buy but steel not so much, scrapping tons of guns. Plus side keeps my building cap down.
I didn't need to pay for contraptions dlc, so does that mean it came with the season pass cuz I bought it but I thought contraptions was 5 dollars.
Thanks for the vid
Did you know you can delete the yellow barrels in the pond and the radiation stops?
I will enjoy the garage doors, because that's exactly what I thought I could have used for my death claws entry way into the arena I built
and elevators would be nice, man I feel like with this I can make my already nice looking settlement look ten times better than it already is with concrete stuff
CAN YOU DO A EPISODE JUST ON THE CONDUITS. I BUILD A LOT AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE THEM
I'm going to make donkey kong in fallout with the scaffolding
+DiamondCity SecurityGuard good idea
+DiamondCity SecurityGuard No i'm not the trader from Quincy get your ointment somewhere else (If you don't get that reference you never talk to diamond city security how rude of you)
I get it lmfao
Donkey Kong? Don't you mean Red Menace? >;3
For a measly 5 bucks, this is worth it for the creative mind, with the season pass? I'd wait a little longer. At least until Nuka World.
might be one of the most useful thing. have the factory make a bunch of steel balls. goes down a track, counter makes it switch to another track, end up filling a bunch of junk mortar, then shoot to defend your settlement. odds are by having different trip lines firing certain junk mortars. would be a lot less effective than turrets but if they want us to make Rube Goldberg machines they don't want us to be efficient. ha ha
wooo a not gate.... my doors have needed one of these :) gonna abuse that metal door also. :D
How would you use the ball track for?
My mods have made a lot of the building stuff inaccessible. The elevators arent that useful to me (even once i have them), because you cant set how high the floors are. I was hoping for something that would make using the freeways sections at Finch and GrayGarden easier.
So I don't have contraptions workshop or far harbor. Which one should I get?
Explosive Penguins far harbor because it comes with story and more building stuff just i little bit less than contraptions
hey you missed some stuff there are two things under defense>traps, and something under resources>misc.
