I don’t understand why people make such a big deal about “KIA”. We bought a 2013 Kia Optima Sxl and had 110,000 miles on it and it has not had one problem! Kia is one of the best cars on the road anymore. People really need to look at how nice these cars really are. Who cares if it says “KIA”. I would buy a Kia over any GM or Chrysler product. The new stinger is one of the best looking cars I’ve seen recently.
They were pretty rubbish prior to this decade, but they knew it and worked hard to fix all the problems they had - now they are reaping the benefits with what is now a very impressive product line. Unfortunately public opinion takes quite a while to catch up with reality - but as long as they keep going the way they are eventually Kia will be a respected brand.
Lucas Jones I took one out on a test drive and it died and left me and the salesman out away from the dealership for 30 minutes. That should have been professionally embarrassing for them but no... they made it seem like no big deal. That pretty much made my mind up about them.
As always, great in-depth look, Mike. The Stinger is absolutely stunning looking inside and out! Also, the rear liftback/hatchback design definitely allows for the Stinger to be extremely practical and appear extremely stylish. I absolutely cannot wait to conduct my complete full review of the 2018 Stinger, as well. Nevertheless, you did an impeccable job displaying the features of this vehicle. From one auto enthusiast to another, keep up the great work, Mike!
Wow I heard something 2 days ago about this car I've actually just looked at this video holy moly I am so going to my dealership tomorrow the hell with the BMW I want the G2
Great In-depth video. I am currently learning how to drive and I have to say it's a bit scary but all the safety features this car has I would most definitely buy. KIA is underrated just because of the name brand but hopefully people will have more respect after this awesome car.
There's also a proximity trunk release so if you stand in front of the trunk for 5 seconds it supposed to open, as long as you have the key in your pocket
Signed a deal on mine 2 days ago. Waiting over the weekend to get it prepped and ready. FYI. The camera does NOT do this color justice!! I initially wanted blue..but my local kia had only 1 stinger on the lot and it was this red. I was disappointed until i seen it in person. Beautiful color without a doubt.
8:25 The honey bee likes your pointer. This is a great car, I am just now pricing a 2021 since there are no certified used available, which is a very good sign.
Car looks great inside and out, my biggest complaint would be the menu system/look on the entertainment screen, looks like a system from 10 years ago. Also I wonder how well it will do in holding value as I feel it's a tough sell at 50k considering it is a KIA there are a lot of options in that price range. LOVE the yellow hand by the way!!
Subscribed and hitting those likes as always... please do an in-depth look on the *2018 Mustang* (preferably with the “Black Accent Package”). Keep up the great work.
why is KIA pricing this so high in the US? In Canada the MSRP of the of gt limited which is equivalent to the GT2 awd in the USA (except in Canada it comes with heated rear seats and remote start app) is $49,995 Canadian ($39,765 usd) but in USA the msrp is $51,400!!! Almost $12,000 higher!!!! I checked some dodge and jaguar vehicles and they are priced the same in us and Canada after the currency exchange rate factor
Damn, Candy Apple Red. I have a birthday coming up in April, ahahahaaha It's a great looking car Hay so, great cinematography, great audio, colorization, and scope. yeah, Great video. All the best Shaun of NYC
I notice there is a lot of stuff missing in the US spec that the canadian spec has: alcantara headliner, 360 camera, heated steering wheel, heated back seats, wireless phone charger (in the front bin which would be a lot bigger). On top of that, it costs 52 000 $CAD fully loaded. To put it in perspective, that would be around 40 000 $USD. This might be the first time in history where the canadian spec is a lot cheaper than the US spec. And also, talk about a HUGE price difference with the premium brands up here in Canada. A base A5 sportback is around the same as the fully loaded Stinger V6 which would more likely compete with the S5 which starts around 62k. A 2.0T Stinger would be a bargain but it's not available... I guess it would cannibalize the Optima Turbo's sales, being that it costs around 40k
I could have sworn that US spec cars they showed at the press launch had the heated steering wheel. I'm considering this as my next car in a year and, while the alcantara headliner and 360 camera would have been nice, it's not really a deal breaker for me that they're not here (although c'mon Kia. How much are you REALLY saving by leaving out that alcantara?). The heated steering wheel, on the other hand, is something I was looking forward to having. And again, what are they really saving by leaving that out? That's gotta add, what? $100 or so to each car? Just put it in. Heated rear seats would have also been nice but again not a huge deal for me. The oddest bit is that if you go to Kia's US site and look at the specs separated by trim level, it shows heated steering wheel. But it's shown in the chart as unavailable across the board. That leads me to believe that maybe it was meant to be there or maybe they'll add them to later produced cars or something, because why would it even be in the list of features if no cars will have it? I won't be ready for a new car til March 2019 so hopefully we will have a new model year by then that DOES include some of these nixed features.
Stephen Patterson Actually I did some research afterwards on cars.com and searched for new stingers across the US. Odly, the premium trim had the heated steering wheel but in the GT trims, only GT1 had it, GT2 didn't if I recall corectly. Could it be that Kia offers this option in the northen states only? This video seems to be shot somewhere down south so maybe they won't have it because of the hot weather
That'd be ridiculous. I live in New Orleans which is, for a lot of the year, DAMN hot and we've had some days over the past couple weeks where I'd have KILLED for a heated wheel!! I really hope that isn't the case. Even more so, why in the EFF would they make that feature available in the base model but not the GT?? That's maddening.
Stephen Patterson I'm not sure but I do know that Audi sometimes does that. For example, their flat bottom steering wheel in the A5 isn't heated but the normal (round) steering wheel is. Maybe Kia does that too because the steering wheel is round in the Premium trim and flat bottom on the GTs. But then again, i saw some GT1 with that feature but not GT2s... maybe i'm mistaken tho
Stephen Patterson In Canada, the base 16k Rio has a heated steering wheel, it would be ridiculous if the Stinger didn't. For the record, it is -25°C (-16°F) in Montreal right now
I find it odd that you basically treat every car review like it is the first time you've ever seen a car . . . but it's very unique also because you basically go through every single square inch of every single car you review and give the nitty-gritty of it all in a matter-of-fact way. I am very curious how sales of the Base and Premium versions of this car will go. I am HOPING they wont be popular (Since everyone is obsessed with Horsepower and refuses to look at anything less), so I can pick one up for hella cheap next year
Thank you Mike.. I can sense that when u pressed the panic button.. ur face is like WTF .Lol Imagine that ur going 130 MPH then you horn for the front car to get it out of the way . Come on Kia change ur styling horns..
Im thinking about getting one next week theres a special offer for financing 84 months 0% interest and cheap insurance. I fell in love when i first spotted this car on the internet and went to test drive one yesterday ! The base model is 10,000$ CDN cheaper but it comes with 10,000$ less in features...
This is a 2019 im talking about but its practically the same. They call it the Stinger GT limited in Canada. We only get 3 AWD options to choose from where i heard the USA gets 5 to choose from including RWD instead of AWD.
I've been in both BMW M4 and this car (Stinger). Speed and dynamics are incomparable. But for the price, this car is a bargain. Just visit a nearby dealership and check it out.
Dear Mr.Mike Hey it's Peyton, we were talking on the Honda Ridgline vid. I commented you to tell you that you are the best at reviewing cars and to keep up the good work. This is my first time subbing to you. Would you do me a favor and do a video on the Nissan Titan, I've looked at others and they're not as good as you are. Your Viewer Peyton
MikesCarInfo Before I look at the Titain is there a defference between the Ridgline and the Titain because I'm 14 yrs old and I think about what truck will suite me best?
They messed up that car..I was interested in that..but for the fact that it looked EXACTLY like a Sonata was the reason I choose the Optima..probably why it resulted in poor sales in the US..if only it had a stand alone look by itself,
Im not really a "Kia Person," however, that thing is serious. I may have to wait a few years and allow someine else to "break one in" before I can get one for that 50K sticker price. But i love the profile...quite muscular.
This car is being compared with the Alfa Romeo giulia the Audi A5 and the BMW 3 series. Granted it's a Grand touring so it doesn't handle as well as the g70 Genesis. But for the money this is the most amazing car. Even in the 4-cylinder turbo. Realize that Hyundai and Kia use this motor in a lot of different cars. If you look at the i30n. It's possible to tune the 4-cylinder up to 320hp with a chip and some work. This is the same 4-cylinder motor that's inthat thing that puts out 275 horsepower out of the box
Mike: 1st. Read the positive first 4 words of my very brief critique's sentence. 2nd. "DUH" is a succinct, slangy way of saying it was stupid not to include a driving impression in your Stinger review i n spite of the fact that it was--in other respects, a fine review. And by the way, it is your credibility at stake here, not mine. You are the professional reviewer, not I. Any other questions?
sadly americans don't get rear heated seats, wireless charging pad, or the more important bird's eye view cameras. drove one, great drive, but, if kia is gonna get into this market as a higher end maker, they have to give us ALL the options at a super competitive price.
MikesCarInfo makes sense now. I’ve never really noticed that I just pay attention to what you’re saying instead of where you’re walking. Appreciate it!
That’s not the actual horn, it’s the panic alarm. The real horn only sounds when you push the steering wheel. My 2018 optima is the same, not sure why Kia install two different horns though.
I wish Kia would shy away from their ugly KIA emblem. At least for their sportier models. I drive a kia forte and I swapped all the emblems on the car with an unidentified logo. Sometimes I drive for Uber in my spare time. It's crazy how many compliments I get on my car, and then once I tell them it's a Kia their heads explode LOL. For some people it's all about that ugly badge on the front.
Just cuz it's a Kia everyone feels it should be like 35k for the top of the line... Come on now lol this is a good looking car with some good specs. I heard didn't 360 camera which sucks tho.
Sorry, but I can't justify buying this car right now. They stripped the USA version of so many features its not even worth it. Maybe next year they will bring them to us or maybe a special edition in the summer. Actually, that would make sense since the VW Arteon is scheduled to be released in the summer...
360 degree camera, heated rear seats, alcantara headliner, color choices, cup holder covers, UVO remote start (I think that's a smartphone app?). Some are small, but the 360 camera was a big one for me.
+Todd Felmly Maybe you are unaware... decals are easily removable. Window sticker is also removable. Gas tank is refillable as well... although it takes more effort than removing a sticker.
Looks like the rumors are confirmed, the US market, even with the range topping GT2, doesn't get the 360 camera setup. Canada, and Mexico get that. Wtf Kia???
I think KIA should stop making these. Just saw this 2018 model with under 20k miles for 28k. This GT2 is close to 50k when it's new. Holds it's value like German cars.
If you like cheap plastic, copied design and a brand/badge that pretty much doesn't say anything, except how cheap your car is or the fact that you simply don't care what you are driving as long it takes you from A to B, then Kia is the go-to brand for you!
MikesCarInfo Were you trying to show us what it looks like to get run over by this thing? :) Thanks for sharing by the way. Wish I had the money for it :(
Kia fucked up keeping their name on it. Should have gone with a luxury line and called it something else. IE toyota/lexus, nissan/infinity, Honda/Acura...I wouldn't pay 25K for all this bullshit with Kia stamped on it.
I immediately liked this video when he pulled the yellow finger out!
8:27 bug chases your finger lol
I don’t understand why people make such a big deal about “KIA”. We bought a 2013 Kia Optima Sxl and had 110,000 miles on it and it has not had one problem! kia haters

Obviously I want this car to do great in the new market but I can’t wait for these to hit the used market!
Ben Diehl 😂😂😂
Ben Diehl agreed.
I just picked up a used 2018 Ceramic Silver GT2 RWD with red interior 6k miles for $38k.

Back in 17, The 2018 Kia Stinger is my daily.
Best detail review on the Stinger of any I've seen on RUclips. Nicely done, very crisp and clear. Kudos!
As always, great in-depth look, Mike. The Stinger is absolutely stunning looking inside and out! I'm so happy to see your videos getting more views now. All that hard work eventually pays off.
Wow I heard something 2 days ago about this car I've actually just looked at this video holy moly I am so going to my dealership tomorrow the hell with the BMW I want the G2
I was thinking the same too lol I'm about to sell my 640i and get one of these
Love the little pointer hand :)
AV8R767 ☝️ I have one..lol
Laying the camera on the ground and driving over it was original and creative.
Great In-depth video. I am currently learning how to drive and I have to say it's a bit scary but all the safety features this car has I would most definitely buy. KIA is underrated just because of the name brand but hopefully people will have more respect after this awesome car.
Best car I have ever driven in all seriousness.
I gave it a thumbs-up as soon as he said "Aluminium". Smart man!
The very best darn review I've seen yet. Thanks Mike.
Excellent review, best I’ve seen on this car.
There's also a proximity trunk release so if you stand in front of the trunk for 5 seconds it supposed to open, as long as you have the key in your pocket
Test drove one today! Fantastic car!
Well edited and presented review format, 2 thumbs up!

Best video I’ve watched on this car. Thumbs up!
1:40 this is a unique color. (A car the same color drives in the background
Amore Red on the Fiat 500X looks similar but nowhere near as good as the Stinger's color imo.
What a beatiful car from Kia. And also I love that finger pointer stick :-D
8:25 The honey bee likes your pointer. This is a great car, I am just now pricing a 2021 since there are no certified used available, which is a very good sign.
I want to get the GT2 but I'm going to wait for 3 years see if the price go down
Great video as usual Mike. Very interesting looking key.

How does it perform? I don't care much about the electronic bells and whistles. Is it fun, fast and does it handle the curves well?
Does anyone have any solid word on if the US models will have the alcantara on the roof and side as well as the 360 camera ?
Great review. Subscribed to see more of the yellow finger.
Thank you... Please share this video if you can :)
Nice review man, you cover alot

nice car indeed so what is the top speed in km ?
271klm/h
7:30 Is that a vent inside the glove compartment and if so, why?
no vents in the glove box.
Does the sunroof go all the way back?
I'm so in love with this car now. Great job my Guy as always. Could u make a vid of this car at night to see how it looks.

Don't forget to show off headlights later on.
The secondary strut bar one close to the vehicle as you call it you don't say closest to vehicle you say along the firewall
very comprehensive! just wonder why there isn't a sport+ mode in your stinger
Is the battery in trunk on all Stinger models? I had a Kia Optima hybrid that had that situation and battery was $400!
I would like a red Kia Stinger and tune it to 500hp+
After about 3 to 5 years I could put new high-performance internals in and up the hp to 1000hp
I find it odd that you basically treat every car review like it is the first time you've ever seen a car . . . but it's very unique also because you basically go through every single square inch of every single car you review and give the nitty-gritty of it all in a matter-of-fact way.

+WC3fanatic997 I try not to assume the knowledge level of the viewer. Also 98% of viewers are single-video viewers (car shopper) and not subscribers.
What’s the difference between this and the 2021 model
The side of the car looks like the previous generation optima.
First thing I thought, too.
It's probably the same chasis
It shares the chassis with the genesis g70 not the optima
anyone aware if its just the NA models that dont get the center console that has the lid for the cup holders?
Thank you Mike.. I can sense that when u pressed the panic button.. ur face is like WTF .Lol

Dear Mr.Mike
Hey it's Peyton, we were talking on the Honda Ridgline vid. I commented you to tell you that you are the best at reviewing cars and to keep up the good work. This is my first time subbing to you. Would you do me a favor and do a video on the Nissan Titan, I've looked at others and they're not as good as you are.
Your Viewer Peyton
Hi Peyton,
I have a few videos of the new Titan when they were first released on my channel.
MikesCarInfo Before I look at the Titain is there a defference between the Ridgline and the Titain because I'm 14 yrs old and I think about what truck will suite me best?
Is that challenger your car?
yes
@08:26 Jealous Bee for sure, dont get stung now 😁
I wish they would have used leather seat back pockets instead of mesh cargo netting
Please hyundai azera review
the Azera is discontinued. They are only sold in the Korean market.
They messed up that car..I was interested in that..but for the fact that it looked EXACTLY like a Sonata was the reason I choose the Optima..probably why it resulted in poor sales in the US..if only it had a stand alone look by itself,
I said I would never buy any car that is not American but this one makes me want to break my promise.
No CD player?
I need a cassette player too

A fine, thorough review, but should include a test drive, DUH!
Read description.
Do you really think adding "DUH!" to the end of your sentence is going add to your credibility?
Mike: 1st. Read the positive first 4 words of my very brief critique's sentence. 2nd. "DUH" is a succinct, slangy way of saying it was stupid not to include a driving impression in your Stinger review i n spite of the fact that it was--in other respects, a fine review. Why do you always begin on the passenger side of the vehicle when you review the interior? I find it a little odd but if it works whatever.
I am working around the car. I show parts of the interior along the way that is not easily done from the driver's seat. Good question :)
MikesCarInfo makes sense now. I’ve never really noticed that I just pay attention to what you’re saying instead of where you’re walking. Appreciate it!
nice car
Haha the horn sounds like its from a Hyundai Accent 😂😂😂
It probably is :)
Austin wimpy horn
Yeah, I noticed that as well. Pissed me off but I don't use horns often, I'm a nice driver :)
But, it should be replaceable, right?
I agree.
That’s not the actual horn, it’s the panic alarm. The real horn only sounds when you push the steering wheel. My 2018 optima is the same, not sure why Kia install two different horns though.

They are coming out with a limited edition 500 cars this summer a 2019 stingergt2 Atlantica and they put all the missing features back
Yup saw the news last week. I guess my prediction was right, just sooner!
Such a beautiful car ruined by the huge dealer decal on the rear. I would not buy from that dealer just because of that!
+Todd Felmly Maybe you are unaware... decals are easily removable.
Window sticker is also removable.
Gas tank is refillable as well... although it takes more effort than removing a sticker.
MikesCarInfo yes, it is removable but it shouldn't be there in the first place. Put it in the glove box and let the buyer slap it on!
+Todd Felmly Should Kia put their emblems in the glove box as well? How about the tire brand on the tire...?
Looks like the rumors are confirmed, the US market, even with the range topping GT2, doesn't get the 360 camera setup. Canada, and Mexico get that. Wtf Kia???
But you get Lane Departure Warning, we dont get that :/
instead you get ambient lighting - EU full equipped dont get -.-
If you're poor, Corean Kiaaaaaaaa is for you.
What, no 360 Camera? The pre-release model had the 360 camera. $50k foor a car that doesn't have 360 camera is blasphemy.
Depends on the GT version and package you can get 360 camera.
Łukasz Żebrowski nope. USA version has no 360 camera at all in any trim or option packages.
You're right. I am coming for the EU market and did not know about this particular difference in US. It's a bit shame really and odd move form KIA.
No wireless charger pad either. Yet they give it to Canada.
Exhaust at idle sounds like a grandpa's fart.......that's why they called it the Stinger.
Sorry dudes, no color correction in the front display, need it to switch to car color. Deal breaker. Hahahaha
jeez, somebody tell me, since when Kia became a "car" ??
Great car but ditch that bitchy clown horn
I think KIA should stop making these. Just saw this 2018 model with under 20k miles for 28k. This GT2 is close to 50k when it's new. Holds it's value like German cars.
50k though.
You telling me that car doesn't have remote start man hell naa
You can have remote start, it is a $500 option. Not many cars have remote start as standard bro.

If you like cheap plastic, copied design and a brand/badge that pretty much doesn't say anything, except how cheap your car is or the fact that you simply don't care what you are driving as long it takes you from A to B, then Kia is the go-to brand for you!
Night video please
0→100km, 4.8sec I am.
Lose the fake finger thingy
Don’t do the under car thing, it’s annoying
+eliasb 5015 Why?
MikesCarInfo I don’t like it too
Why?
MikesCarInfo Were you trying to show us what it looks like to get run over by this thing? :) Thanks for sharing by the way. Wish I had the money for it :(
It shows the true dual exhaust, suspension and undercarriage components. Something rarely seen on video.
Kia fucked up keeping their name on it. Should have gone with a luxury line and called it something else. IE toyota/lexus, nissan/infinity, Honda/Acura...I wouldn't pay 25K for all this bullshit with Kia stamped on it.
He doesn't drive because he doesn't have a driver's
Read the description.

Ewwwww, that horn dosen't do the car justice.
