I gotta say Kia has been very impressive as of late, they seem to cut all the right corners when it comes to compromises. From price range to features to performance to looks in my opinion Kia seems to have that good balance trend going on, and let's not forget the warranty.
normally I'd say dont bank on the warranty given how they look to invalidate it when they can. This car will be the Halo model and I'm sure they'll be stepping up customer care for buyers....or at least they should.
Kia- Maybe we in the UNITED STATES should charge you $10,000 import fee like you did to American car makers in the '80s. Make it $20,000...inflation you know.
Ben, how sure are you? According to Australian car journalists, 2018(2019 in states) comes with "the new 3.5L PETROL" as replacement for the outgoing 3.3L - which is the only reason I'm asking.
Well, you can’t stop people from buying Kia... as long as they have people like Albert Biermann (ex VP of BMW's M performance division) tuning their cars... when they consistently ranks highest in JD Power’s overall initial quality... add to this a long warranty and it is hard to deny the value.
"Sporty sedan" and "FAKE CAR" doesn't go in the same sentence. if you can't afford a real sports sedan, a $32,000 over priced KIA won't give you that feeling of being in a real car, unless you are car stupid.
Another great in-depth review by Alex on Autos, whom I'm growing to have a tremendous respect in reviewing cars for the reason that he reviews cars as a point of view from a car shopper. As he reviews the car, he compares each category to other competitions in its class, which is very helpful to a car shopper like myself. I'm sure any new car is much nicer than my ten-year-old pride and joy, and that's how other car review videos sound like, "Powerful engine," "Nice handling," "Comfortable seats," and etc. Okay, new-car smell is generally nice, but how does it compare to other cars? So I can make more intelligent and smart car buying choice? Well, Alex does that for me, and I enjoy watching his videos. Today, however, Alex made that choice for me. Alex, who has driven a lot of cars, is wiling to fork out his own money to buy Kia Stinger, then I'm almost certain that my next car purchase would be Kia Stinger. I just want to wait until Consumer Reports finish their review on Kia Stinger, and gives it a recommended choice.
Your rapid fire delivery of info is 100% on point.....no fillers , pointless sounds or exaggerated emotions.....and the good thing is that other so called automotive journalist are scared to break from the norm so they will continue to blend in with everyone else so you can cruise peacefully around their static.
I've been waiting for a full review on this car for months and you delivered, as always, Alex! Great review and that ending... WOW! I can't wait to test drive one, myself. Keep up the awesome reviews and great work!!
Great review. I've been waiting to see you get your hands one one of these. I'm glad to hear you like it so much. When I first saw this car I thought it would be my family's next purchase. Then we got a wild hair a bought a Charger Daytona 392. If I ever have a need for a second car, the Stinger GT AWD and Giulia Sport Q4 are on my short list.
jeffro392 checked out the Daytona charger beautiful outside hideous on the inside. The cheap huge plastic shifter too ugh. But im sure its a blast to drive. I hope dodge fixes their interior.
Ya, I can't entirely disagree with you on your opinion of the interior. I have always found the dash board texture odd and funky (doesn't produce glare though). The shifter is what it is, I don't find it offensive. At about 7,000 miles I have developed a rattle in the rear of the car that I can't pinpoint and a rattle when bass hits on the passenger door. As you said though, the exterior looks and driving more than make up for interior's minor (IMO) imperfections.
Thanks to competition! Korean cars can compete with European luxury cars now for a lot cheaper price that more people can afford. My favorite thing about this car is this is liftback!
Dr Dank if you think it's because of pricing then you don't know much about cars. Acura and Infiniti have a lot of catching up to do. Genesis have surpassed them Lexus is now on a whole other level and Kia is not even a luxury brand, but yet even they are out classing them in terms of design, quality and performance. Trust me my wife and I have test driven them all. The G350, TLX, Q50, Q60, C-Class, E-Class, E400(great coupe) and the G80 Sport. We chose the G80 Sport because it offers a bit of everything from all those vehicles at a great price. The worse of them all was Acura and Infiniti. You're better off buying a Honda over an Acura and a Nissan over an Infiniti to be honest.
james 699 my wife test drove the A Spec and hated it out of them all. She said it didn't feel much different from her 2016 Accord Touring she use to have. She actually liked the Q60 a lot, but I went to test drive for myself I told her no way. The interior quality and plastics was awful. Everything I touched creaked. The buttons for the sunroof, interior lighting and garage had to be the cheapest feeling buttons I ever felt in a vehicle. The ride quality was all over the place. I think she just liked the styling and the Bose sound system, the seats were nice as well. I talked her into checking out the G80 Sport. She was apprehensive because she was all about the badging, but after we test driven it on our way back home we both couldn't stop going on about it. The runner up was the 2018 E400, but the bargain and options of the Genesis was hard to ignore. Not to mention the maintenance cost and warranty. She gets compliments all the time. Our next cars will be the 2018 Lexus LC500 & LS500.☺️
james 699 Genesis is definitely the best bang for the money. The G80 Sport outranked the G350 and Genesis is now being touted as reliable as a Lexus. The only thing that hurts Genesis is public perception and badge snobs. Have you even test driven a Genesis vehicle? There's nothing in Acura current line-up that can touch the G90, G80 or G70. 2018 will bring their first SUV and 2019 or 2020 will debut their first coupe to compete with the S550 coupe. Oh we don't care what other people think. We're all about making ourselves happy and making common sense choices.
Alex, you are one of the best if not the best car reviewer on youtube. You are all about facts and numbers and rarely give your opinion about cars. This Stinger must be really great and handle very well if your saying you might buy one. Great review as always.
21:22 I've been watching Alex's videos for a long time. I'll tell you right now this car is a buy because he said the magic phrase: "A hoot and a half". That's the ultimate praise a car can aspire to from Alex. Everyone who really follows him knows it...
Great review, very descriptive! You sure the the door trims and dashboard isn’t authentic leather though? I’m not sure it’s pleather as you’ve stated for the GT
There really is no better praise for this offering than a high-end reviewer stating he not only preferred this over any car he drove, but will likely buy one. Wow. Great review
As an owner of a 2016 Kia Soul and a 2015 Mustang GT, I think this is one sweet ride. They should offer the Tau 5.0L V8 found in the Genesis G90, and a coupe version, like they did with the old Genesis Coupe.
Excellent review as always, thanks Alex! The lease on my 2015 KIA Soul Cloud Edition is almost up so I was eagerly awaiting your review of the Stinger. I absolutely love my KIA Soul but the Stinger could definitely be my next car! 👍💯
Todd Medium Wellington III yes. They are making very good cars. My first was a 2007 kia spectra, loaded. Nice driver, put little over 150.000 miles on it, no problems at all. In june 2016, bought 2017 Elantra, se loaded, very nice car, great gas mileage, comfortable, have 23000 miles on it no complaints, no problems. Like it just fine.
I can't believe how great this car is. KIA (and Hyundai) have been stepping their game up for quite a bit, but this is something else... If only it had more ground clearance, I'd be all over this like white on rice, on a paper plate, in a middle of snowstorm. After driving my V60CC for a bit, I've come to appreciate the ground clearance in snow too much to trade it for a regular car.
It's a bigger car than the 3/4 series and /A4/A5. You can get lighter but that means more expensive steel and alternatives. It's a relatively light car compared to the next class up. Physics is physics. Don't expect a nimble toss around car to be this size at this price or anything close to it. Things like noise reduction requires added weight.
Bruno TaTa the Accord (a fairly affordable car) is bigger and the fully loaded touring model is about 600lbs lighter. granted, the 4000lb stinger has awd and a bigger engine, i still think kia can manage taking a few pounds off this car... at least assuming the sales numbers will be good.
Thanks. Was looking forward to your review. I have leased 3 Optima's, I have the 2016 SXL right now. They have been fantastic. ( My gas cap release stuck on my 2013 model, but that was it)
Great review Alex. Like the on screen 0-60 comparisons. suggest you present same for braking, ride and other review criteria to support your comparative analysis commentary
bird718 yes I sat in this car at my Kia local dealer and it had the red interior and it was awesome except steering wheel looks cheap- Very Nice - Genesis G70 should be even better!
Gorilla Toyz i bet, it takes balls to invite people like Alex to test drive the Kia Stinger and have those cars to test drive back to back and compare, that car must be sweet. i wish the Kia dealer was within reasonable distance so i could check one out.
danger450 don't worry, one day you will have a nice car... till then good luck with your ricer civic and i hope you move out of your parents basement one day. trust me, you don't want to know what people say about you.
bird718 for sure. The best in their segment Porsche and bmw are solid so they came to rock the boat. They have come a long way and I have a 2016 Hyundai Genesis sedan, and it drives really well for 311hp , so being lighter and a redesign I am sure this drives awesome. I personally wouldn’t buy it loaded over $40k but that’s just me because my car lost so much money day 1, it’s kinda known in the industry that they have a tough climb like Toyota did with Lexus ~ I would be a second owner early adopter or a great short term lease....
Same, I’m going to look at the 3.3 L AWD here (Montréal) this weekend and I’m disappointed in the fuel efficiency but not much else. What a looker. Oddly, I’m cross-shopping it with a Golf R, mostly because I have TDI settlement cash. Well done KIA.
Clicked on this video so fast, go Kia! Drove one briefly, neat high-quality feeling car, but felt kinda heavy in the turns and a little tight inside (for my tastes). But plenty quick enough.
What’s the different between GT vs GT 1 Vs GT 2 ? if someone buys GT with drive wise package, do you think it’s good value? Is there is any miss opportunity for fun driving experience?
Alex, the GT1 and GT2 are a big difference in price. I assume the difference is sunroof, safety sensors and what else? $43,000 for the awd/v6 sounds too good to be true. What else does theh GT2 add?
This looks so much like my B9 A4 interior, specs are right up there, too! If I wasn't such a Quattro fanboy, I might ditch my Audi...(nahhh, that won't happen). Pretty impressive for the price segment! Great review, Alex!
Excellent review. How much interior space is there for taller drivers? I am 6' 4" and I am wondering if I would even be able to comfortably drive the Stinger for long distances.
Go for it Alex! I don’t know whether I’m shocked or surprised that how a Korean company traveled in last 20 years and today they gave us an all around luxury sport sedan/coupe like Stinger. Currently I’m with a lease on a 2015 Nissan Murano. Once my lease is over I think you already convinced me what to go for 😎. I appreciate the details & comparisons you provided in your review. Cheers’
I am here because one afternoon I was stopped next to a Stinger at a stop light. And then I wasn't. The light turned green and he pulled an amazing disappearing act. What the hell??? So I had to check the 0-60 times to see if I had been hallucinating. Pretty damn cool, I really must say!
At 4,100 Lbs that sedan is just too heavy for me. However, I love that Mill and am looking fwd to the G70 - which I am hoping will come in under 3,700 Lbs.
Wow! Kia has been stepping their game up tremendously in the recent years! Luckily, I am actually in the process of editing my Intial Impressions First Look of the all-new Kia Stinger. When I checked the Stinger out, I was astonished by the luxury it offered and the overall confidence that its presence boasted. Not to mention, the versatile liftback design and the value-aimed pricing (which undercuts many of its competitors)... The Kia Stinger seems like it will make its way on many future buyrs in both the compact and midsized luxury sedan segments. All in all, I cannot wait until your In-Depth Review of the Kia Stinger, Alex. Nevertheless, from one car reviewer to another, keep up the great work!
Awesome. Thanks Alex. Was waiting for this review. Maybe my next car. I currently own a loaded 2016 Kia Sedona SX with tech and I'm always blown away by how many features I got for the price. No reliability problems either. Used to be a Korean car hater. No more. Kia has come along way.
Excellent review as usual *Alex*, the one thing I don't get is, are they going after premium brands with kia? Ive always thought of them as the scion of hyundai.
i guess that scion is from toyota and Genesis from hyundai~ and Kia is launching its new premium brand for new K9 version next year with the different emblem and but i don't know about Stinger. stinger has the "E" emblem on its hood and rear in Korea now.
Great value in this car. The $39k with the high-performance engine and AWD delivers the same 0 to 60 time as a Golf R for less money and so much more car with a better warranty and reliability.
I am impressed. I would love to see a head to head with the Buick Regal GS and VW Arteon when they launch. This is a great new segment of car for sedan buyers.
Wow! Might actually buy one for yourself...impressive. I'm going to the Orlando car show next week...very much looking forward to seeing on "live." The only concern would be interior space (for the driver). I'm 6'2" and on the "husky" side. Thanks for the great review... I always enjoy your videos.
Alex, does this make your short list of cars you’d actually buy? If so, which trim would you go for? Also, after seeing them in person which exterior/interior color would you buy?
I gotta say Kia has been very impressive as of late, they seem to cut all the right corners when it comes to compromises. From price range to features to performance to looks in my opinion Kia seems to have that good balance trend going on, and let's not forget the warranty.
normally I'd say dont bank on the warranty given how they look to invalidate it when they can. This car will be the Halo model and I'm sure they'll be stepping up customer care for buyers....or at least they should.
Thanks Alex! Glad you got to test out the Kia Stinger!
KMA, when can we expect the updated 2019 Sorento revealed? LAAS maybe?
New 3.5L V6 - true?
Kia- Maybe we in the UNITED STATES should charge you $10,000 import fee like you did to American car makers in the '80s. Make it $20,000...inflation you know.
Ben, how sure are you? According to Australian car journalists, 2018(2019 in states) comes with "the new 3.5L PETROL" as replacement for the outgoing 3.3L - which is the only reason I'm asking.
Korea still has a high import tax on foreign cars....thats why almost no one there drives them.
Hey Kia, if Canada gets rear heated seats, shouldn't US too? Come on please.
Well done Kia. Well done.
This is extremely impressive
He really likes the Stinger!
Hyundai/Kia has been growing dramatically recent years; they pretty much step in every segment in the market.
Kia is growing up
Oh shit YES!!! A Stinger review from Alex!!!
love the liftback on this, it's what makes hatchbacks so good!
You got it people. Alex is buying one himself!
Damn, this is a sweet car. I hope you get one Alex. And then give us a long term review.
This is going to be my dream car.
I know *"it's just a Kia"* but I almost gotta have one
Well, can't get a better endorsement than actually buying the car! Great review as always Alex.
Well done Kia... the grey color does look the best.
Looks best at the crushers. Tired of seeing poor retards buy KIA's.
Well, you can’t stop people from buying Kia... as long as they have people like Albert Biermann (ex VP of BMW's M performance division) tuning their cars... when they consistently ranks highest in JD Power’s overall initial quality... add to this a long warranty and it is hard to deny the value.
What new sporty sedan would buy in this price range, instead?
"Sporty sedan" and "FAKE CAR" doesn't go in the same sentence. if you can't afford a real sports sedan, a $32,000 over priced KIA won't give you that feeling of being in a real car, unless you are car stupid.
So many butthurt Kia haters in the comments section. :p
I'm yet to see a bad review of this car. Great job Kia.
Another great in-depth review by Alex on Autos, whom I'm growing to have a tremendous respect in reviewing cars for the reason that he reviews cars as a point of view from a car shopper. I did the same thing with Alex on Auto's Kia Optima SXL review. I picked up a new "front wheel drive stinger" and I love it.
Pretty awesome. I almost pulled the trigger on Kia Optima myself after watching Alex's review, but I wanted to wait until the Stinger came out.
So glad i found your channel, its really informative! I have a feeling you're channel is going to grow alot
I finally test drove one and I fell in love.
I’ve been WAITING for this one for a long time.. 🙌🏾
danger450 why are you acting like a little child? Some people love Kia. Everybody has their preference.
Only retards "LOVE" KIA. Barf.
Jay Kelz, that is what she said. Lol
watching your videos leaves no question unanswered. Perfect video as always
Except the money, I have completely prepared to make a purchase.
My favorite review you’ve done. This car looks amazing. It’s the next car I want!
Kia if anything happens to my corolla I will buy one what a great car!
Alex, Thank you for all your effort as always! test driving a GT Limited tomorrow and VERY excited! :)
I never realized how big the Stinger was until seeing you stand next to it at 0:21 .
As you said though, the exterior looks and driving more than make up for interior's minor (IMO) imperfections.
jeffro392 agreed.
Thanks to competition! Korean cars can compete with European luxury cars now for a lot cheaper price that more people can afford. My favorite thing about this car is this is liftback!
Wow. That's high praise. I was already interested, but you sold me.
wow...impressive
pretty much no reason to get the Acura TLX now
nickolas there's no reason to get an Acura at all.
Because KIA put out a $52k car?
Dr Dank if you think it's because of pricing then you don't know much about cars. Acura and Infiniti have a lot of catching up to do. Ayeee finally the perfect car a sedan that's a hatch that's NOT GERMAN with a sub 5 second 0-60 time and all wheel drive 😍
I like kia and is not joke...
Alex, you are one of the best if not the best car reviewer on youtube. You are all about facts and numbers and rarely give your opinion about cars. This Stinger must be really great and handle very well if your saying you might buy one. Great review as always.

by far my favorite review, totally honest.
Great review, very descriptive!
You sure the the door trims and dashboard isn’t authentic leather though?

Yes, a coupe would be nice, but i'm really thinking about how well it will hold (resale) down the road against/audi/bimmer et al ??????
This car would be your perfect daily!
I love that the liftback-style is coming back into popularity. The lines of a sedan with the practicality of a hatch! It's brilliant.
Excellent review as always, thanks Alex! The lease on my 2015 KIA Soul Cloud Edition is almost up so I was eagerly awaiting your review of the Stinger. I absolutely love my KIA Soul but the Stinger could definitely be my next car! 👍💯
One of the best car reviewers on the internet. Well done.
Alex, great review. How was the outward view? The fastback look sometimes has a penalty for outward visibility.
This is hot!!! Nice alternative to the sea of plebian family sedans on the market!
The hatchback practicality sets it apart from most competitors other than Audi A5 sportback and BMW 4 series Gran coupe.
Sounds like an awesome car. I’ve been waiting for this car. I wonder how it’ll compare with the genesis G70.
wasabi9111 g70 is significantly faster due to being 400lbs lighter. There are races between them in Korea already Haha
I have never wanted a Kia, until now
This car is impressive af!
I'm with you. I never would have thought I'd be interested in a Kia. This looks like a great value.
Right there with you. It's freaky.
Great video, this car is very high on my list
it is truly amazing how both Kia and Hyundai are now competitive

Jonathan B g70 3626lbs with the same power awd. 0-60 in 4.2
That's what I'm talking about!
They didn't :)
Thanks. Was looking forward to your review. I have leased 3 Optima's, I have the 2016 SXL right now. They have been fantastic. ( My gas cap release stuck on my 2013 model, but that was it)
This is the car i wish i had
Your my go to guy when it comes to cars
Great review Alex. Like the on screen 0-60 comparisons. suggest you present same for braking, ride and other review criteria to support your comparative analysis commentary
very interesting, kia is getting very aggressive. makes me wonder what goodies well get from the genesis brand.

BW, Kia was the #1 ranked brand in the industry for Initial Quality according to JD Power in 2017
nice car
And... adding this one to the list! Nice review as always Alex!
Thank you for your always excellent reviews Alex.
Great review! Been waiting to hear about this car for a long time!
Clicked on this video so fast, go Kia! Drove one briefly, neat high-quality feeling car, but felt kinda heavy in the turns and a little tight inside (for my tastes). But plenty quick enough.
The fact that Alex is seriously considering purchasing this car speaks volumes. Wow!
Our local Kia dealer has one in the showroom. It's a gorgeous car. Can't wait for the models to appear on the lot to test drive
What’s the different between GT vs GT 1 Vs GT 2 ? if someone buys GT with drive wise package, do you think it’s good value? Is there is any miss opportunity for fun driving experience?
As always great review. Looking for Stinger's brother G70 review!
Great review Alex. I like this car...

Another excellent video. I am fascinated by HUD's. Please include in future vids.
Cheers’
Alex, that was awesome review man! Love to see you new Stinger in 2018, although my choice of color would be the blue. Keep up the great work!
Given the depreciation across Kia's 2017-18 lineup I'll wait and look for yr end discounting on this Stinger.
pretty honest, you really know about cars, i'm a fan..... love that car
Our local Kia dealership has a stinger in the showroom. it is a gorgeous car. Can't wait till they hit the lot to test drive
Another great review Alex. Don’t change your style.
Man, this guy can talk and/or edits like a pro....take a breath Alex
Pretty cool. Im not much a KDM fan, but I am interested in the G70. If this is a good car, then I am excited to see the G70 then
Another excellent review. I'd like more information on the base model, perhaps even a full review, but I'll take what I can get!
Awesome. Thanks Alex. Was waiting for this review. Maybe my next car. I currently own a loaded 2016 Kia Sedona SX with tech and I'm always blown away by how many features I got for the price. No reliability problems either. Used to be a Korean car hater. No more. Kia has come along way.
Can’t wait till it depreciates to get one
What do you choose between this and Nissan Maxima looking mainly for comfort?
Great first effort. Look forward to seeing 2.0l reviews.
Love your reviews very informative and straight to the point
Excellent review as usual *Alex*, the one thing I don't get is, are they going after premium brands with kia? Ive always thought of them as the scion of hyundai.
i guess that scion is from toyota and Genesis from hyundai~ and Kia is launching its new premium brand for new K9 version next year with the different emblem and but i don't know about Stinger. stinger has the "E" emblem on its hood and rear in Korea now.
I meant like Kia is to hyundai as scion to toyota something like that I thought
Great value in this car. The $39k with the high-performance engine and AWD delivers the same 0 to 60 time as a Golf R for less money and so much more car with a better warranty and reliability.
It actually ends up much cheaper in Canada even after factoring the currency exchange. I'm interested.
Great review. If I could have one wish, it would be for you to start reviewing stereo systems and infotainment systems.
Alex, does this make your short list of cars you’d actually buy? If so, which trim would you go for? Also, after seeing them in person which exterior/interior color would you buy?
where do I sign up?
The Stinger GT, G70, A5 Sportback, or Buick Regal GS will be one of my next vehicles.
Looks lovely. I'd drive one. The only downside is the Kia emblem on there.
