For the first one, if you haven't noticed, you actually got the place name, Hrastnik (hrast is not a word related to Croatia, instead it means oak tree). PIGD Steklarna Hrastnik is Prostovoljno Industrijsko Gasilsko Društvo Steklarna Hrastnik, or in English Voluntary Industrial Firefighter's Society (PIGD) Glass Factory (Steklarna) Hrastnik (place name). The fact that there is room for only one vehicle is surprising, but then again, since they are formed as a part of a larger industrial operation, the actual firefighting vehicles and equipment are probably stored at the factory itself (which, of course, makes most sense).

Also, they never existed in such small villages in Croatia in the first place.

Also Mercator is a typical Slovenian company that can be found literally everywhere, including the town of Hrastnik. If you see the M logo it is a dead giveaway it's Slovenia

First time playing along with one of these (and doing any sort of no-moving thing in Geoguessr)-- 18,569. Whiffed entirely on the last round, had no idea where it was and randomly guessed Australia, so at least I beat Tom on the first four rounds combined. Off by roughly 20 miles in Round 1, couple hundred in Round 2 (wrong region of France), roughly 100 in Round 3, which I'm very proud of, and 30 or so in Round 4 (wrong part of the road, which is the only one I think I could have improved with more time, I only took around 1-2 minutes per round). Very fun!
The moment I saw those train cars in the first round I recognized the logo on them, it's Slovenian railroads logo. Also the store next to the Hrastnik sign with the white M logo on red background is Mercator, you can be sure you're in one of the balkan countries if you see it. Cheers from Slovenia!

First time giving this a go, it's great fun. This is how my run shaped out: 1. 4,804 - Knew it was Slovenia due to the language. Being Croatian, I noticed the small differences (and the logo for Mercator, which is a Slovenian supermarket chain), but didn't know the exact location of the river so went too much to the west. 2. 3,940 - Assumed it was France, but thought it would be nearer to the Belgian border due to the flat terrain. 3. 19 - Showed my lack of experience here, couldn't pin it down so just went North America and completely missed. 4. 4,978 - Looked around for a bit and found the road from the sign, couldn't get the exact junction down. 5. 2,365 - Went for Taiwan, didn't even consider South Korea here. All in all, 16,106, decent, but feel really bad about missing the South American guess.
Freight hopping with Tom, sounds like mega fun. I'm sure you know of Brave Dave, you might even have mentioned him if I remember correctly. Lots of people recommend you shiey but Dave's honestly a lot more like you, same age, humor, personality, nationality and passion for outdoors adventures/Wales/mischief. Maybe try and reach out to him for a collab when lockdown's lifted? Either freight hopping or scrambling around in Snowdonia would be an absolute crack to watch. Just a thought!

If you're in doubt about Croatia or Slovenia, a general rule of thumb is Slovenian house numbers are white on red, Croatian are white on blue. Also if a communist-style factories (chimneys, silos, railroad) are nested in narrow gorges between wooded and steep hills, it's more likely to be Slovenia. Fun fact for a geography buff: there's the highest chimney in Europe (Trbovlje Power Plant).
2:10 - If you look closer, you can tell it's the fire station (judging by the symbol and just how this gate/building looks like). Typical for many small villages in most of the slavic countries. A gate, very often red with some kind of signs that look like it's some sort of institution.

First time playing along and got (I feel) a respectable 18,400. Round 1: I lived in the Balkans, and was vacillating between Montenegro and Slovenia, but saw the M sign (which stands for Mercator - a chain of grocery stores which are in Croatia and Slovenia) and scanned around enough until I saw the name of the river that ended in N. Round 2: I figured France, guessed a hundred miles away or so on the right altitude. Round 3: biffed it (didn't check the sun!) so picked Alaska. 3 points. Round 4: started shouting at you to turn to the right, because the freaking road sign was right there - I estimated direction on the road and found the right intersection! Round 5: still shouting at you to look around. I saw the yellow/black striped utility pole and from your other videos, was sure it was Japan. I didn't check the side of the road we were driving on... Anyway - that was good fun! I plan to play along again!
21,740 total. Was playing alright until the last round - I went Japan instead of S. Korea. I love how there are people who blatantly cheat on these play-alongs just to get top score, as if it's some kind of achievement!
Brave Dave was brilliant and Shiey is awesome too. I'd say be so careful if you decide to do the freight hop, we won't want you slipping and losing a leg. Shiey is a climber with seemingly no fear, if the train were to brake heavily you could fall. It could be awesome and I'd join Patreon I'm just nervous for you.
From what I've seen of freight hopping, it seems like there's a high likelihood of being arrested (especially if you're not experienced) and it also seems a bit dangerous... like if you screw up you lose your feet/legs kinda dangerous. I do like watching videos on it, but be VERY careful if you decide to do it.
that was a lot of fun, I got really lucky and found the lake in Chile/Argentina, and then was able to realize the R road signs for South Africa, and searched around on the map and get pretty close. However, you crushed me everywhere else :(

awesome vid this was the first time I played a game along and its a great challenge! got two insane guesses with over 4500points but I panned and zoomed every round :P
Gave this one a try after not playing for a long time. 1. I got Slovenia - the language seemed right and it was quite hilly and it didn't look like a complete shithole. But the score was only marginally better. 2. This was strange. My immediate gut feeling was France due to that stone wall on the side of the road and the sign in the background. The name was also great help. Yet the scenery didn'T look quite right. I went Northern France because I figured it could be Luxembourg. So only 3933 points but at least I got the country. Your guess was insane. 3. My thought process was pretty much the same. I also had the issue of the clouds/mountains - and I ended up thinking it was a sea as well. Ended up going just north of your spot in Chile. 3255 points. Tough round. 4. Wow, you went hardcore. There was an extremely helpful sign with the road number and cities that made the round actually quite easy. I also used the small lakes on the side of the round to pinpoint the exact spot. 5000 points. I think you would've gotten it too if your NMPZ instincts didn't kick in. 5. I went Taiwan... 2256 points. I was 50/50 on Taiwan or South Korea too. Damn, if it wasn't for the last round I would've kept up but in total I got 19 272 points. Fun game.
The name Croatia is Hrvatska in Croatian, which I guess you'd have seen on their football kit. That's probably what you were thinking of with that word on the sign in the first round.
For the second guess, you can know immediatly that you're in France only with the brighty pole (can't catch the word) on the side of the road, red and white, and thick like that = France automatically

Round 1 - the 'hra' made me think of Croatia as well, guessed there too, but a bit more south. 4,375p Round 2 - I had no clue, the landscape looked kinda similar to the UK or Ireland, but the red-white post and the cross made me go for Poland. 2,645p Round 3 - went for Canada, didn't even think of South America. 12p Round 4 - THERE WAS A SIGN POINTING TO 2 CITIES - I found the road between the two towns in South Africa, and it looked like there was some water near the trees, guessed the junction off that. 5000p Round 5 - the messy power lines and the black-yellow post made me think either Taiwan or South Korea. Went for South Korea since it didn't look mountainous enough to be Taiwan. Guessed further north than you did. 4,330p I was confused on why you stopped looking around in the last two rounds, felt like I was cheating a little (: I ended up with 16,362 - not too bad honestly, apart from that 3rd round!

In the 1st round You got the right language, though, as Croatian and Slovenian are basically the exact same language. I think, I would have gone for Slovenia in that round (probably further north near the Alpes), as I know the area a little bit (mainly from passing through on my way to Istria for vacation. I live in Bavaria.) Edit: you‘re right about the HR being somehow connected to Croatia: it‘s the official country code on vehicles, standing for Hrvatzka.

First time playing along and got (I feel) a respectable 18,400. Round 1: I lived in the Balkans, and was vacillating between Montenegro and Slovenia, but saw the M sign (which stands for Mercator - a chain of grocery stores which are in Croatia and Slovenia) and scanned around enough until I saw the name of the river that ended in N. Round 2: I figured France, guessed a hundred miles away or so on the right altitude. Round 3: biffed it (didn't check the sun!) so picked Alaska. 3 points. Round 4: started shouting at you to turn to the right, because the freaking road sign was right there - I estimated direction on the road and found the right intersection! Round 5: still shouting at you to look around. I saw the yellow/black striped utility pole and from your other videos, was sure it was Japan. I didn't check the side of the road we were driving on...
Anyway - that was good fun! I plan to play along again!
21,740 total. Was playing alright until the last round - I went Japan instead of S. Korea. I love how there are people who blatantly cheat on these play-alongs just to get top score, as if it's some kind of achievement!

Brave Dave was brilliant and Shiey is awesome too. I'd say be so careful if you decide to do the freight hop, we won't want you slipping and losing a leg. Shiey is a climber with seemingly no fear, if the train were to brake heavily you could fall. It could be awesome and I'd join Patreon I'm just nervous for you.
From what I've seen of freight hopping, it seems like there's a high likelihood of being arrested (especially if you're not experienced) and it also seems a bit dangerous... like if you screw up you lose your feet/legs kinda dangerous. I do like watching videos on it, but be VERY careful if you decide to do it.

that was a lot of fun, I got really lucky and found the lake in Chile/Argentina, and then was able to realize the R road signs for South Africa, and searched around on the map and get pretty close. However, you crushed me everywhere else :(

got two insane guesses with over 4500points but I panned and zoomed every round :P
Gave this one a try after not playing for a long time.
1. I got Slovenia - the language seemed right and it was quite hilly and it didn't look like a complete shithole. But the score was only marginally better.
2. This was strange. My immediate gut feeling was France due to that stone wall on the side of the road and the sign in the background. The name was also great help. Yet the scenery didn'T look quite right. I went Northern France because I figured it could be Luxembourg. So only 3933 points but at least I got the country. Your guess was insane.
3. My thought process was pretty much the same. I also had the issue of the clouds/mountains - and I ended up thinking it was a sea as well. Ended up going just north of your spot in Chile. 3255 points. Tough round.
4. Wow, you went hardcore. There was an extremely helpful sign with the road number and cities that made the round actually quite easy. I also used the small lakes on the side of the round to pinpoint the exact spot. 5000 points. I think you would've gotten it too if your NMPZ instincts didn't kick in.
5. I went Taiwan... 2256 points. I was 50/50 on Taiwan or South Korea too.
Damn, if it wasn't for the last round I would've kept up but in total I got 19 272 points. Fun game.

The name Croatia is Hrvatska in Croatian, which I guess you'd have seen on their football kit. That's probably what you were thinking of with that word on the sign in the first round.

For the second guess, you can know immediatly that you're in France only with the brighty pole (can't catch the word) on the side of the road, red and white, and thick like that = France automatically

Round 1 - the 'hra' made me think of Croatia as well, guessed there too, but a bit more south. 4,375p
Round 2 - I had no clue, the landscape looked kinda similar to the UK or Ireland, but the red-white post and the cross made me go for Poland. 2,645p
Round 3 - went for Canada, didn't even think of South America. 12p
Round 4 - THERE WAS A SIGN POINTING TO 2 CITIES - I found the road between the two towns in South Africa, and it looked like there was some water near the trees, guessed the junction off that. 5000p
Round 5 - the messy power lines and the black-yellow post made me think either Taiwan or South Korea. Went for South Korea since it didn't look mountainous enough to be Taiwan. Guessed further north than you did. 4,330p
I was confused on why you stopped looking around in the last two rounds, felt like I was cheating a little (:
I ended up with 16,362 - not too bad honestly, apart from that 3rd round!

In the 1st round You got the right language, though, as Croatian and Slovenian are basically the exact same language. I think, I would have gone for Slovenia in that round (probably further north near the Alpes), as I know the area a little bit (mainly from passing through on my way to Istria for vacation. I live in Bavaria.)
Edit: you‘re right about the HR being somehow connected to Croatia: it‘s the official country code on vehicles, standing for Hrvatzka.
