This is one of the coolest enemy designs I’ve ever seen. This was such a fun boss fight. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but the design just looks so incredible.
I love how Kratos asks if Niddhog is one of Odins creatures but not long before this quest you meet Ratatoskr and he tells you Niddhog belongs to the tree eating the roots
I didn't really understand what the game wanted me to do when he would stop taking damage, I think it was a little more convoluted than it needed to be. But all of the "huge enemy" boss fights are so much better than 2018, regardless. Hraezlyr was cool but mechanically his fight does not hold up, very boring to repeat
@@buckyhurdle4776 eh I think it's a good boss fight. It's not as good as the ragnarok ones obviously but that's because ragnarok overall is a refinement in every aspect that was introduced in gow4. We wouldn't have ragnarok if it wasn't for the work they did making the 2018 game the way that it is. It's still not even a bad fight, imo none of them in 2018 are. There are a few problems obviously with gow4 but one of the main ones is just enemy variety not mechanics. The dragon fight was good, and still is, Nidhogg is just obviously a better fight because they improved on it
Bro this boss fight was insane I was not expecting this, even though there are some crazy bosses in the game. The design of the boss is fire 🔥 and also knowing that they are a lot of fire armors in the game, the one you start off with is dope asf and it looks really good once you upgrade it to max

The whole vaneheim section is my favorite so far playing. It has some of the most creative encounters and story stuff with freya. And ends with this bombass boss! It's just so great honestly.

It’s so impressive but it is actually fairly easy if you start implenting it in your game. There is a time delay in which you can input your commands. During a combo animation I started pressing left or right on the pad while pressing L1 R1 or L1 R2 and it will automatically swap weapons unleashing the runic attack instantly, once your previous combo ended. The design in this game is so cool for letting us do such things
@@TheRAMBO9191 literally makes the experiencie x2 better. Try exploring more options like holding R1 for special combo attacks while Kratos does the dodge attack animation. It will come out instantly after doing the dodge attack :)
I am a fan of SMVR and I really think this is a very underrated channel. I envy this man's talent in playing games. I am really getting inspired to practice more and execute satisfying combos whenever I am watching your gowR videos. Your precision is so admirable. Your gameplay look soooooo clean. I also watched your gow 2018 videos last time and you really deserve that gow title 🤣. May I ask mr. Do these clean combos already natural to you (muscle memory) or at least cost you a little effort or it still takes you dozens of takes to perfect it when you are recording. It just amazes me.
He is for sure in a class all his own, I've never seen such fluid perfect gameplay. He truly is Kratos. I have stick drift on one controller and loose trigger on another so my precision seems really hampered. As well as my quick turn ability needs alot of work.

I would definitely use the L1+triangle runic activation more. The amount of damage you can pump out with that and stacking it with enchantments makes it pretty ridiculous. Nice vid though

looking at the difficulty level of GMGOW the game should be harder to look at, but SMVR playing it looks very easy, and Kratos looks like a "real god of war". GG bro
Just did this part. Might be my favorite boss fight so far! Yeah Nidhogg in mythology is supposed to be the snake that wraps around the universe, beat that World Serpent, but as a boss this was kick ass. She was also strangely adorable when she wrapped herself around pillars.

Hey SmvR or anyone in the comments have any tips to performing this, like is he using the Whiplash to deflect the attack it seems. But how does that work exactly is the slash motion has to be timed. Or even the circular motion of whiplash also deflects the attack.
Hey Combo Spartan, Radiant warden handles allow you to deflect projectiles while using whiplash. It’s an auto-parry situation where as long as you’re in whiplash mode, it deflects. They become naturally purchasable in the shop if im not mistaken.

The fact it took Kratos AND Freya to take out Nidhogg says a lot about its power. I see no reason why Kratos would be holding back here; since Atreus isn't with him.
Hey SMVR, could you please share your settings? Also the parry seems off in Ragnorok. When do you parry/dodge? I usually wait for the circle to start fading out and I still get hit.
Depends on the shield you use. Dauntless Shield has to be last minute for the parries to work so it has a smaller frame window. If you use the normal shield from the first game once it gets repaired it’s the same window
Did you know at the start of the game when you go to Svartlheim before you enter the mystic gateway Artreus asks what’s that, pointing to Nidhogg below the realms between realms

The bosses in this game are pretty bad honestly. The bosses in the classic GoW games shit all over the ones in the reboots.

While an epic fight, seeing Nidhogg trying to flee back to the world tree...and her babies...only to be dragged back and killed...it's kinda sad.

Hands down one of the most well designed boss fights I've ever seen. GMGOW elevates it to FromSoftware levels of good.
And the Legend is Back 🔥 The Whiplash deflection is a neat trick I should use that.
