    Great job, Bill. Your tractor and dump truck certainly have come in handy. Had you hired this job out, the work crew would have brought their dump truck and tractor anyways, so it's nice to have your own equipment. I have a tree root removal project to commence and finish before it gets too dang cold. It doesn't get as cold as Iowa but my preference is to work outdoors in spring or fall-like weather. Spring usually entails working between rainy days and since I'll be on my knees quite a bit, I prefer the fall. Enjoyed a full-watch of your video. Have a Merry Christmas. There will be no snowy, white Christmas here on Christmas day even though it would be nice, just for asthetics (smile). Okay my friend, I'll see you in part 2 of your retaining wall rebuild. 👍🏽🙂

      Hello Houndsman, happy Sunday. Thank you for your continued support all these years. Good luck with your root removal project, and I hope you missed all the strong damaging storms I saw on the news.
      Have a great holiday season.

      Morning Bob, I caught that darn turtle using a catfish hook and a pork hock, when it was all over I pulled 5-6 turtles out of that small pond. They were put in a relocation program. 😄. Have a wonderful holiday season.

    Nice retainer wall work. It looks like the John Deere is holding up great. Your construction work is better than most contractors, and the money saved is a very good investment. Cheers from Fort Worth, Rick & Debbie.

    Good Project! Very entertaining. It's too cold now for these types of projects in my part of Canada. The 2025R has been taken out twice to clear out the snow.

      Good morning Roger, so good to hear from my viewers in Canada, here in Iowa we’ll see 40” of snow during a winter, so far only a trace of snow and 60 degrees Wednesday. Stay safe and have a blessed holiday season.

    Thanks for this. I'm trying to do the same thing. Why do you think the original wall started to fail and what did you do differently in the re-installation?

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  2 года назад

      Chris I think the root cause was not installing proper drain tile and clean rock to keep the water from building pressure behind the wall. They didn’t use clean rock either and the original job was poor.

    Looks like a well thought out approach. Those heat cords should work well to keep the water moving. I installed them at my parents home a few years ago and they save a lot of misery.

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  2 года назад

      @@chdinct6792 Chris, that's exactly what I want, but I don't want to remove the bucket to use it, if there is a way to attach it to the bucket like I did the backhoe paddle we'll have a winner. Happy holidays my friend.

    • @chdinct6792
      @chdinct6792 2 года назад +1

      @@billburkhart Bill, they also offer a quick attach adaptor so you can switch between your current bucket and the ripper. I have both for my Kubota BX. Works great. Just unpin, remove and put the other attachment on. Look at all of the backhoe options for your model. They also sell a small, trenching bucket. Good luck.

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  2 года назад

      @@chdinct6792 Hi Chris I do see that. I'll have to explore how easy that may be. The darn thumb on the backhoe complicates the bucket removal a bit. Appreciate the tip.

  • @jamesyates5191
    @jamesyates5191 2 года назад

    Thanks Bill. I own a 2038R without a backhoe. At the time I couldn’t justify the added cost but watching you work makes me think I chose poorly. About 5 months ago I had to dig up my buried septic tank lids which are located in my driveway. I bought a ‘Stump Wrecker’ from Good Works Tractor which saved my back but a backhoe would have been even nicer. I live north of Medford Oregon with a lot of sandstone just few feet under the dirt and couldn’t think of much use of a backhoe. Your project is an excellent justification for that added expense. Your wife looks like she really enjoys helping out with these projects. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  2 года назад

      Merry Christmas to you and your family also James, you live in a pretty part of the world.
      Purchasing a backhoe is such a personal decision.......and it's hard to justify when the budget is tight too.
      I agree .....my wife does enjoy our projects, she's always willing to jump right into a project, she's a real partner.
      Have a great holiday and stay safe.
