    Hey Bill, still more questions....do you prefer the land plane or the box blade? Do you have or used a Harley rake? Can a soil conditioner do the same thing? I love driveway work, watch them all the time....what gravel size do you use?

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  26 дней назад +1

      @@aaronburford5701 Aaron, for my driveway I use 3/4 inch stone with some small fines. The fines allow the stone to pack very well. Never used a Harley rake. They concern me a little bit. something could get slung out and awayfrom the machine and damage something
      The difference between a land plain and a box blade is what you wanna do with it. For instance, a box blade is designed to move soil and the landplane will keep the stone in place while grooming it. Good questions.

    Hi Bill, enjoy watching your videos, o have a new 1025r I have 6.3 hours on it, I have the 260B backhoe, with other new attachments such as a grapple, snow pusher, and forks which i haven't used any attachments except the snow pusher. I have the third function, tires have rim guard. I was impressed with the snow pusher, with the rim guard in the tires and the back hoe on i never even had to use 4-wheel drive plowing snow. BUT After watching so many videos, I really think I want a 2038, because of the better power and lifting capacity on the loader and three point. I am working with my dealer now to see that my tractor only has 6.3 hours on it, 1.5 of them was on it when I took delivery hopefully they come up with a reasonable deal to make a change to the 2038. My computer name shows up as Jack Daniels, but I am Todd Gauthier from Pulaski Wisconsin. Again I really enjoy your videos, please keep them coming!

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  2 года назад

      Good Morning Todd, happy Monday morning.
      Thanks so much for your kind comments and supporting my video's, I sure appreciate it. I'll get Pulaski Wi on the map.
      I enjoyed my 1025 but moved up to the 2038 because the PTO HP on the 1025 was always just below the recommended HP to operate some rear attachments I was considering. The extra lifting power of the 2038 front loader the rear lifting ability also made the move up an easy decision for me.
      Fingers crossed you can come to a reasonable trade solution. Bite the bullet, move up and don't look back, you won't regret it. Let me know when you get your new 2038! Have a great week. - Bill

    Hey there Bill, it's always refreshing to watch you work your property. I'm here in southeastern North Carolina and the DOT owns the road 30 feet from center of the main road onto my land. I had to remember this as I widened my driveway entrance. Originally, my driveway entrance was covered with crusher-run. I later had concrete poured from the very entrance into my property 50 feet. That sure did eliminate the pot holes created when heavy vehicles entered my driveway, especially where the hardball asphalt road transitioned into my crusher-run surface. It cost me about $5K for the set-up and pour, I no longer have issues, however, where the concrete pad ends, it merges onto my crusher-run drive. I ensure a deliberate slow-down entry so as not to create pot holes where the two surfaces meet. I didn't enjoy spending the original $5K years ago but it's been well worth it. Enjoyed a full-watch and wish you the best this new year. I'll see you on your next video. Don👍🏽🙂

    Great video. If I may provide some advice... in the future when using the dump trailer, dump going downhill. So in other words, back the trailer up your driveway. This will help with control and traction with your truck. When your raise it to dump, it slides the material to the rear of thte trailer, which lifts up on the front of your trailer thus it lifts up the rear of your truck making it easy to spin your tires and while in a curve, sucks you into the inside of the curve. Going downhill puts gravity on your side and you won't spin your tires like you did trying to go up hill. As I stated before, gives you better traction and control. You learn as you go. I have been doing gravel driveways for people for a couple years and have learned things as I go. I have a 3039R I use if needed in difficult driveways to spread the stone. Great job making the best of a difficult dump by using the tractor to spread the stone where you want it. Just think of the cost and manual labor if you didn't have the dump trailer and tractor. Dump truck from the gravel pit doing a spread would be expensive, then if no tractor raking it out by hand is hard work. Our tractors save so many back aches with guys our age.

    G'day Bill, appreciate the shout-out.
    This video comes at a great time for me as we are in need of a scraper/grader just like this so it's good to see one in action. Our gravel drive is getting out of shape and will need a good bit of work soon.
    We have a "Crown" road that leads to our driveway on the property. The term Crown simply means that it is owned by the government. Dates back to early days in Australia when the English royals owned everything hence the Crown. The crown road leads to a regular state maintained road which is gravel. The crown road "is where it is" by definition in that it runs alongside a creek so if the creek changes course, so does the road :-)
    This crown road should be maintained by our local council however, they don't do a thing. It is a dirt/grass road and our neighbours as well as ourselves maintain it with mowing and the removal of fallen trees.
    I'll eventually gravel drives all the way to our house however, for now just one section at the house is graveled and that's what needs work after 6 years of use and no maintenance.
    Anyway, that's us. Appreciate your videos so thank you for sharing.
    Take care.
    Duncan.

    Hello Bill, from West Virginia. Hafta say, when it comes to tail gating gravel from a dump bed, you either got it or you dont. One thing you you do excel at, is the land plane. You made it look pretty easy. I sold my 14' dump trailer after owning it for 3 years. I never did master the ability of spreading gravel and always ended using the tractor to level the piles of gravel. The weather has been very odd here in the northern panhandle too. Normally our winters are very mild and up until January its been an easy winter, but its been very cold here last month, a little bit better the last couple of days.

    Hi Bill. I just wanted to share that my 2 1/2 year old son loves your videos. He has a borderline unhealthy obsession with tractors and will watch attentively from video start to finish. We own a previous gen 2025r. It’s been a great machine and meets our needs perfectly. Keep up the good work. Checking in from Sanger, Texas. Matt

      Howdy Matt, if you’re comfortable telling me your sons name I’ll get a shout out to him in the next video thanks for sharing his interest with me. I remember the years of two and three and up as being awesome years with the kids.
      I’m near Baton Rough today enjoying King Cakes and Mardi Gras from a safe distance. 👍
      Have a great March. -Bill

      Good Morning Matt, I just found your response in the spam folder. I did a shoutout to you and your town in the recent video, but I'll get a clear shout out to Silas in the next video. Is it pronounced C AL IS ? - Bill

      Hey John,!!, thanks for requesting longer videos, I often start with an hour or more of video and I cut them down to a length I hope people won't get board with..... Next months video is going to be around :25, let me know if that's too long.
      I sure appreciate your request for more videos too. You have a great month John. - Bill

    Great video, I`m getting ready to buy a grader blade myself. I already have a box blade as well as a land plan. I`m buying this grader blade to clean out the ditches where my dad lives. the county grade the road, but don`t clean ditches, and like you, it`s an ongoing fight between the county and myself. again, great video, be safe, and keep them coming.

      Hello Brush Hog, I have the same situation here too. For my property tax I see the county grader 3 times during the summer, and only as needed in the winter to remove snow and ice. I've never seen the Sheriff go by, and the fire and ambulance is volunteer here. And, like you....if I want the ditches clean, it's up to me. I like it here, I'm not complaining.

      Good luck with the hunt for your next implement, I enjoy the hunt as much as the actual purchase. - Bill
