Dude @10:20 I’ve noticed this, I never been launched punished from whiffing a jab as much as I have in T8. It’s crazy. It used to be something you had to thread the needle with electrics only, now so many characters can easily launch a whiffed jab
Regarding the recovery frames Aris was talking about, that video also showed that lots of moves now have more recovery on block and hit. It’s not just whiffing. I thought the extra whiff recovery was noticeable but the recovery frames on block/hit was driving me mad. Explains why inputs seem to get eaten a lot; the buffer window has moved because the moves have new recovery timings.
I’be already gotten used to it. On launch I was dropping Lee combos for a week straight because of the extra recovery frames. Everything felt a little delayed for a while now it just feels normal.
Regarding replays / ghosts / and all that stuff. I think it's vital to have the possibility to download famous players' ghosts and make them compete in an offline theatre mode. You know, Mechagodzilla vs Kong. Arslan vs Knee. Mainman vs Aris :o) If that's not an option right now, it totally should be.
When the topic of Azucena came up I was hoping for a discussion on the T8 newcomers. But I suppose like the balancing and other new system changes it's still fairly soon to tell. But other than that, great Boomcast as always! And having Aris is always fun!
Rage arts not being launch punishable by every character is pretty dumb, they need to be like -50 on block. When a move ONLY loses to block it should actually lose to block.
I can sort of see the case for not wanting Rage Arts to be punishable by another Rage Art, but the devs should know full well that not every character has a 15f launcher so why only 15f? Make it 17f or something so that every character is guaranteed at least one launch punish lol
As someone that plays Raven who can't launch punish til -16, this is extremely rarely an issue as by the time they are in rage they are in kill range for his df4,4,3 15f punish. The only time this doesn't work is if they go into rage then gain back a bunch of grey life.
I think the wall break situation is becasue after you break the wall the character is still in that same stun as a wall splat so the game allows for wall throws still
You should keep the social media tags underneath everyone’s video. It is better for promotion and good for new viewers to lookup you and the special guests.
Glad I'm not alone in thinking it's lame there are no tournaments for so long. Can't wait to see what the best players are doing with the new game. Also, about game design I wanted to say that a good game is inherently exclusionary. Def better to stick to your guns rather than trying to appease everyone. Make things for the people who want them, not for some assumed casual person you imagine is going to magically develop interest.
I think that different chars have different (sort of) OP things have made the game so that chars feel unique and you are looking out for something special in each char. I like that feeling. Even things like 12's are different for chars and new animations for df2's etc. Chars feel different and in T7 it was the same for everyone 12 df1 and m4 etc. They are pushing chars as different systems with different strengths and made a great job.
I ONLY played Paul in T7 and have played T8 Paul for about 80 hours so far, and I've noticed a weird delay. Let's say you start off the round immediately inputting deathfist... in T7 you can input deathfist and get the move to come out instantly if you have the timing down. In T8, I input it with the same speed and timing and will get a fwd 2. Either T7 was more lenient to buffering inputs, or T8 made it extremely strict. There's other instances with other moves but this was the most straight-forward example.
Apparently it has to do with moves that require qcb/f inputs, they cannot be buffered, so they must be done with perfect timing the moment the round starts.
@@omaisgee123 if it's tied to a stance it cant be buffered it's always been like that. So electrics cant be buffered because they go into crouch dash death fist cant be buffered because it is tied to snake step or whatever Pauls version is called. However you can buffer something like dragunovs qcb2 cuz there's no stance tied to it
theres so much stuff about t8 system that no one is talking about. like if you armor and eat a hit your armor move gets to be safe on block. and some armor moves like king's b3 are really good, because you get a tornado in a jumping opponent, which is awesome agaisnt slash kicks, azucenas wr move and lee's and so on also when you are in heat mode, all air juggle damage is recoverable health, instead of the 50%
The ghost is pretty awesome at practicing defense if you use it in that way. It's dumb to try to simply just beat it because it lacks defensive capabilities but for learning a character's cheap stuff, just download any red or purple ghost and practice defense.
Yea it’s alot of fun so far it’s good for learning how to block things even if they aren’t as quick as a real player and also good for trying to learn how to play a new character and you don’t really feel comfortable fumbling around online using a character that you can barely control.
My cheese tech for the new mechanics is heat engager into 10 hit string to chip the hell out of them. With Raven in particular, his 10 string ends with an unblockable so it’s effective.
@@Scum_Dup It's even easier than that. There's 3 highs in a row that can be easily duck launched. Still, maybe 1 out of 15 players do anything other than eat it. They barely see Raven and never see his 10 hit so they don't know what to do. The couple people who have countered it usually just heat burst in the middle of it.
People who want more defensive options are huffing some good stuff. You've got Sidestep, sidewalk, backdash, rolldash, sway, backswing blows, parries/etc, power crush, high crush, low crush, crouch, making yourself grounded to kill time, stance-based evasion/parries, and I'm sure others I'm missing. I get that its a lil more Bunga but there's still a shit tonne of options
When I heard BoxBox was playing, I watched all that content with PhiDX, I thought it was great. I wasn't curious until I heard Scarra was also playing. I just assumed this was the best time to get into fighting games in preparation for 2XKO or whatever Project L is being called.
SF4 had the replay recording "issue". it is also part of how Smug was found, etc. so idk, i guess giving them the option to make private would be the best option.
55:47 Speaking on this , for Jin did anyone find out if a secret input for to do the story mode rage art in normal gameplay exists? That RA seems kinda useful because his normal one side switches (I think haven't got 8 yet) and that story mode one didn't.

I see Aris' point about everyone having access to heat smash making it hard to complain about the power level but there's a couple things I think are wrong about his perspective First of all it assumes all heat smashes are equal which they absolutely are not. Some startup faster than others, have way more range than others, are safer or more plus on block, give mixups on block and what they give on hit is different too so while every character has a heat smash some characters have way, way stronger feeling heat smashes than others Second of all I think that just because I too have the ability to press a single button and bust out a super high priority, plus on block, high damage mid doesn't make defending against a heat smash feel any better. I still feel awful when my opponent just mashes one button that at worst blows through my offense and kills me or at best I block and now I'm minus and I don't feel good when I mash that button and steal the round. I don't think any character should have one button access to all the strengths of heat smash I also think it disregards that the threat of heatsmash completely changes how you defend against some characters and some characters are infinitely more scary to defend against because of the threat heatsmash represents. Kazuya in heat is an absolute menace because he loses his weakness to SSL. You have to commit to a hard read duck against Kazuya to not eat his heat smash and in that matchup a bad duck is death and I don't know if I feel like Kazuya should have access to his normal mixup being that potent suddenly. And what do you get for your troubles of risking your life to block his heat smash? An i14 punish
Huge agree, the difference in quality and overall value of heat smashes from character to character varies an insane amount, Jack and King will scare you simply for them being in heat because of their smashes, the same cannot be said for Leroy or Bryan for example

If Tekken has hidden Dynamic Difficulty adjustments in game. We’re screwed. FIFA has been doing this for years to keep players thinking they have control of the game. I hope these frames aren’t adjustable in real time
16:12 and 16:20 that is pretty weird specially that after CNT the beta had nerfs on Kazuya so the Jack stuff being only touched on release is really weird, seems like it really is kinda like a reaction to people complains
On the topic of having heat smashes being different. They can still be different and unique to the character even if damage is changed. King can still run and do his shit after having it blocked and be plus, it doesnt need to do that much damage and launch my ass on certain stages 😂.
I feel like the wall throw being executed after the wall is broken is as stupid as characters instantly returning to a standing animation when hit with a rage art while getting juggled in the air.

Thats not Aris, thats an imposter. His screen isnt green
1:01:12 I def remember seein' this tweet lmao
nice video good energy
My favorite part is Airs webcam from the 1900's. Does it come with a hand crank, does he need to crack that shit up before he goes live.
im here for Lord Aris
If Tekken has hidden Dynamic Difficulty adjustments in game. We’re screwed. FIFA has been doing this for years to keep players thinking they have control of the game. I hope these frames aren’t adjustable in real time
16:12 and 16:20 that is pretty weird specially that after CNT the beta had nerfs on Kazuya so the Jack stuff being only touched on release is really weird, seems like it really is kinda like a reaction to people complains
Lord Aris should come back to commentate again
My only criticism is Eddie being the first DLC character.
Can someone tell me why Aris is always peering from the shadows? I have never seen him in the light. You’d think he was a vampire.
I love Aris
59:51 What did the Jack player dress up as ? Audio cut out.
I mean, sf6 reached the million in 3 days, 3 million now
Im happy for Tekken, game deserves it
My question is: What's the best fighting game story mode if it's NOT Tekken 8?
On the topic of having heat smashes being different. They can still be different and unique to the character even if damage is changed. King can still run and do his shit after having it blocked and be plus, it doesnt need to do that much damage and launch my ass on certain stages 😂.
btw... since when did aris turn vampire... i mean when was the last time someone has seen him in broad daylight? or just light
Boom! What’s up, internet?
I feel like the wall throw being executed after the wall is broken is as stupid as characters instantly returning to a standing animation when hit with a rage art while getting juggled in the air.
No Rip No Buy
Jack-8 was nerfed first patch. He was in the BETA
awesome!!!!
