Hey bro thanks for the video. I have been struggling with 3/32 cap. I am getting droopy finish and if I speed up i get undercut. Going to try your technique.
@@TheWeldLab hey bud your technique definitely helped me out. Thanks. I also do a lot of 2G welds 6010 root 7018 fill and cap. I am curious to see how you cap on a 2G. Thanks
I don't know if it's quicker. But it definitely LOOKS better. Then again some say as long as it passes don't trip. Me personally I like my shit looking clean.
You should have a put a spacing tool on the tight side then you start welding on the opposite side until the spacer falls out, that is when you stop and switch to the spacer side and weld there. Putting just 2 tacks in is asking for problems.
What settigs should i use i have a sa 250 diesel and im having trouble with the cap im using 7018 1/8 what gear and amperage i had a lot of metal dropping and could getit to stay steady
I appreciate the video i always have trouble with the roots im good at my welds but my roots is always my problem. After watching this video im definitely going to implement these methods
@@TheWeldLab Thanks Abraham, your answer and yours videos help me alot. I have never weld pipe using E6010 only 7018 here in europe and next week i have to pass a 5G 12" 6010 open root downhill. Hope everithing will be fine. Thanks you once again and for those briliant videos. Stay safe.
very interesting technique. Is there a reason you don't tack at 3 and 9 and also, is there a reason you started the root at the top, rather than uphill from 6 to 12?
I only use 2 tacks because I find it’s much faster if you watch more of my videos I’m all about quality and production I always try to find the fastest way to put out more work And I go downhill because that the procedure my job requires it’s also much faster then uphill
Very slick , Interesting procedure, I’ve never seen where you can run downhill root/ fill then uphill for cap. It’s always been all down or all up for me. That would be awesome though.
thought this was supposed to be 7018 fill and cap? haha, i wish i could fill with 6010 on these joints. 90% of the code up here we gotta 7018 hot pass - cap.

I’m about to take 2 stainless pipe tests and an uphill and downhill test. I haven’t welded in 6 months so this video is a lifesaver. Thanks so much!
That's was amazing thanks bro bring back memories of 3/20 before covid-19 layoffs
that old navy commercial was nice and loud just the way i like it
Can I use this same method going uphill? Im going to school but we are learning how to run the rods uphill and i'm having a little trouble . Thanks
That hot pass looked amazing
thanks!
Thank you im moving on to 5g pipe today, helped alot. Next is tig root.
another perspective on welding 👍
Damn man good stuff !! loved how detailed you made every step 💪
Thanks for the feedback !👨🏭🔥
I’m in school now this video helped so much
Great video. Going for my all position stick ticket soon (on plate) I want to move onto pipe after that. Thanks for all the videos!
I'd rather hear the root pass instead of music.
Very nice video. Step by step.
Thanks bro !
This is all the welding school I need, just consider me graduated!! Who got work? 🙌🏽
Gotta get them certs though 😂
Good job man, that cap looks slick
thanks man!
That's awesome I like the way you let us all know what we have to see and need to have to on the gap and the finish weld
How did u open the gap wider when it was closed?
You don't have to grind in between to make your tie- ends?
yes bro you suppose to grind all tie ends
Cool video. I burned a few 7018 today on my gooseneck trailer.

appreciate your videos! been out of welding school due to covid smh Can’t wait to get bk under the hood !
you got this bro you be welding on the field in no time!
Is that quicker than running a couple stringers for your cap?
I don't know if it's quicker. But it definitely LOOKS better. Then again some say as long as it passes don't trip. Me personally I like my shit looking clean.
i need to know that file tool you use to clean up the toes on your cap!! great video man
Bro i gotta 5 g test and f3 and 2
Thank you 🙏🏿 for this video and DAT root wooooooooooo yooooooo 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I used to do a horizontal figure eight! Very tight with no crown in the middle, like yours! Try it
Why did you run the 7018 uphill? I’m a beginner so I just wanna know why🤷🏻♂️
Everything looks bad ass but that cap👌
yeah that 7018 can leave a nice cap with the machine set rite

Would it be wise to do two caps? My teacher wants two but I feel more confident with one.
That's bad ass weld
Good job you did an excellent weld.

Do all type welds need that gap or is just for pipe welding?
Do your procedures allow for root, hot pass and fill all with 6010?
I started welding in my school because I have a welding class any tips bro
Is that 1st gear at 80?
Very good tecnik and clever welder
Great Video my guy!
Good welding, what type of electrodes do you use?
Flawless victory!!!💪
3/32" land and the gap?🤔 the same or 1/16" ? Thanks
1/16 will be fine that’s my preference for any pipe smalller then 6 inches I like 3/32 gap for 8” and up

By the way thanks for videos they help alot good looking out need some videos aboutthe lincoln welder settings
This can be done uphill for 5g aswell right?
Why did not u clean the paint?
Good vid very detailed me and den improved on that root from just that one day you showed us thanks god bless bro
If i get rain out this week I’m come back and check y’all out
When you restarted your cap did you knock off the slag or did you just keep going
Gotta knock that slag of or it'll mess with your next bead
When u do u root do u see the key hole ?
Greetings friend, I'd like to ask a question, what polarity do you use for the root pass?. I'd really appreciate your ab comment
For the electrode house positive and for the ground negative
Wait so im allowed to drag the rod on my root pass ?
Good shit bro I’m so happy for you keep up the good work!
thanks bro💯
Great video.. and great welding
Thanks man !
What about a single bead-figure 8?
You can do that but that’s not really my preference I feel like it’s easy to do Zs and less work
Nice work 👌👌👌👌

It only uphill in the UK
Boy that is slick
Why downhill ?
Dope video homie! 💯🙌
thanks for the feedback !
Finish pass it's 7018 at 3/32??
Good job man,appreciate your videos
I appreciate that!
Very nice sir ❤❤❤
Good video bro. 🙌
Thanks for the feedback don’t forget to like and share 🙏🏼
You make look easy
7018 fill?
Why did you downhand hot pass
Very informative demo !!!
Soooo... U did the root pass with 6010, hot pass with 6010, and a fill pass with 6010 and 1 cap with 7018???
you must be in welding school still
Good Job
Why didn't you opt for a 5/32 hot pass and fill it at the same time? Honestly I clocked on this expecting all uphill lol
Yeah bro that would of Ben a better option I was shooting the video at my job and we didn’t have any 5/32
@@TheWeldLab What kind of work are you guys doing there?
Rob Murphy we building a gas plant bro
@@TheWeldLab Where at? I'm in PA and haven't touched any gas pipe except to renew papers lol been doing structural and equipment repairs to get by.
Rob Murphy don’t they have a union job out there a few buddies of mine went out there I heard it’s good money too
Tasty beads, Bro
thanks man
why so many 6010 passes?
How come you did a 1 bead cap and not 2 beads?
you only do 2 bead cap when they have a wide bevel or when its in 6g postion
Helpful.....Shit bro its AWESOME........Keep it up and thanks for the tips.
thanks bro
Going downhill looks so much easier than uphill
i love it
Are you on social media?
BRAVO !!!!!
That's Nice
Gots a serve on with a slur
why 6010 root? Not 7018 for both?
6010 is a stronger weld
it's weird seeing downhill welding my school didn't allow that. I wonder how many employers allow this.
That’s the procedure for pipeline ask your school what’s the procedure for pipeline

Yeah man there is different rules for different jobs...and yeah we usually downhill everything and cap with 7018...what y’all welding on?
I’m from Boston... we do 6010 downhand all the way out
Good videos hmie
forget the stick get a miller suitcase with a trailblazer or the 5 grand gasoline generator/welder bro..
Jus Alright, tie in at 12:00 o'clock position was not Good
Slick as fuck that cap can't see any restarts !!
No es aceptable trabajar esa tubo sin antes haber retirado la pintura por lo menos media pulgada hacía cada lado
Jenis kawat apa yg dipakai?
60105p+ and 7018
🔥
Tacks? Those are 1-1/2" welds
that’s still a tack
wait a minute this is 6010 fill not 7018!
