@G Forcke Ms. Peretti (she died March 2021 at age 80) has been famous since 1969. Before Tiffany & Co. went exclusive with her designs, she designed pieces of jewelry for Halston, and before that, she designed jewelry for clothing designer Giorgio Sant' Angelo. I have Elsa Peretti pieces that go back to 1972. She has been a household name in US fashion since the early 1970s.
Well, name me ONE jewellery designer in the last 50 years with the same fame like fashion designers. Just not the profession to become a major name, although they changed the world in their way, silently
Me tooooo… I have a couple tiny necklaces by her -Tiffany&Co….. when I wear them…. I’ll touch the cross I have by her or the Madonna or coffee bean, …. Ergonomically pleasing, classic…. I proudly wear…. Only a few comment… they will ask…”is that a Tiffany Necklace?”… yesssssss
After watching Halston in Netflix, I came out fascinated with Elsa Peretti, she was just truly phenomenally talented in many aspects. Been reading and watching everything I can about her. I kind wanna own a bottle necklace now 😍🤩😍
Love love the bone cuff. I saw it decades ago in vogue and it stayed in my memory. I finally possess one and it is the piece of jewelry I wear the most.
My grandparents were Tiffany & Co collectors. They had pieces from every collection ever produced. After granny passed my parents gave us kids the collections. I received the Peretti Collection. It is proudly displayed in a cabinet in the dining room. My mother gave my wife granny's 24k/2.2ct Tiffany dinner ring (circa 1920s). I was jealous so I bought myself a Tiffany ball chain and oval Return To dog tag necklace. I still wear it everyday. My wife wears 'the boulder' every New Years Eve party. You could say Tiffany & Co is part of the family around here.
Thank you for this. Educational and entertaining, and a good, beautiful glimpse into fashion history. I hope you continue with this idea and make more videos like this one, showing the history of Tiffany.
This is amazing Tonight I am realizing I have three of her designs, buckle heart!!!!! Those buckles were given to me few months ago and tonight I was looking at them And realized they are Elsa Peretti That’s why I came here to know more about this lady.
This is very educating and very helpful especially to those who want to be something big in the world. This is telling people how she changed the world and you can do, it is very inspiring for young ones!
Great video. I only know about her because the Halston series on NETFLIX and now i just learned that this super talented woman just recently passed away in March 2021. Amazing life and legacy. RIP
Lovely tribute to a glorious Italian female artist. Elsa was able to live many lives and was part of the last movement of the 1960’s pop art movement that exploded to power by the 1980’s. Involving a hodgepodge of photographers, painters, sculptors, dancers, models, fashion designers, milliners, jewelry, interior designers these people were able to move with great flow through the globe. In a postwar environment that had become in obstructive after the 1950’s the boundaries opened up globally. Suddenly Europe, Asia and the America’s were connected. When real estate was inexpensive and the cost of living simplistic all of these arts were supplemented by enormous charities arts endowments, social patronage that benefitted that generation. They received everything possible. And their work was incredibly colorful and sensually vibrant. Peretti was a glamorous example of that international connection in the late 20th c . A pathway that was created for art and women like herself in subsequent generations.
I'm crying... she's a woman ICON and and idol of mine as a young painter who just immigrated to the US with huge dreams. I should study her more. much love
I love love her Sevillana Ring in Green Jade. I put it in my finger every morning and stays until I go to bed at night. It’s feels stunningly beautiful on my skin. Thank you Elsa.
By accident I found a peretti thumbprint bowl. It is lovely when displayed, but shines with design genius when put to use: whether lifting or putting down, it is secure with one hand. No awkward hooking your thumb over into the bowl. Amazing.i never knew (even though it says Elsa Peretti in the bottom).
I personally have her open heart necklace, I have always loved it and when I got it i wear it almost all the time and can’t help but touch it and hold it in my hand. Infact I feel naked without it!
@@jeannotpoivre437 That’s lovely, it’s gorgeous too and looks like the contours would feel just beautiful sitting in your hand. We’ll both enjoy our little treasures forever I think! It really only takes little things to make a girl feel good inside I think, despite society in general calling us high maintenance, they just don’t understand we just need to feel secure and a little object like that can make us feel as such. 🌸
Please show the inside of a Tiffany's shop!!! Of course I don't expect Tiffany to show trade secrets, but Louis Vuttion has shown their products being produced- and so has Hermes! I wanna see inside a Tiffany's shop!
TIFFANY'S IN NEW YORK HAD CASES AND CASES OF JEWELRY. I LOVED THAT SHOP. ALSO THE ONE IN BEVERLY HILLS. BUT MY BORROWED GOLD MASSERATI WAS TOWED IN 2 SECONDS FLAT...FOR PARKING RIGHT IN FRONT. THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE DONE THAT IN BEVERLY HILLS TO ME...WHERE I WAS FROM. I WAS PRETTY SHOCKED. I HAD A 'LOOK OUT', HONEY HOWARD, CLIVE DAVIS'S NIECE..AT THE DOOR..EVERY FIVE MINUTES CHECKING ON IT. BUT THEY WERE QUICK...AFTER ABOUT A HALF HOUR IN THE STORE. AND THEY WRECKED MY TRANSMISSION DOING IT. JACKASSES...THEY SHOULD KNOW A STICK SHIFT IS LEFT IN FIRST GEAR TO SET IT.
@@ShogunHull If you parked in front of Tiffany's in New York, yes, they would tow your car away, gold Maserati or not. And they wouldn't care if you were from Beverly Hills or Timbuktu. Who the hell do you think you are to imagine that you can get away with it? Jackass!
Im another who wasnt aware of Eva until the Halston movie. I hope they make one about her life which I feel could be more interesting and an example of a truly rewarding life not just one of excess.
Thanks to Netflix’s Halston I know who this talented woman is. Thanks to this Tiffany video I realized that I own one of her creations.
Same here! I love her work now!
Duh!

I met Elsa in NYC ages ago and she had a very strong and elegant presence. Her talent for turning simplicity into art is magnificent.

I use to see her jewellery in Vogue. I bought one - the love heart necklace.
I loved her work when I was young and the perfume bottles for Halston
I feel like her life must have been so fulfilling. Full of amazing experiences and with a passion for what she loved to do.
Halston had a Boss team surrounding him, fly clothing, now I see why Prince's fashion sense was so Cold, go Netflix go
Very inspiring I would always see ads in Vogue or Glamor Magazine of her Tiffany pieces.
Love her beautiful timeless designs. Feel lucky I was able to see her in person about 30 years ago when she came to my school for a speech.
This is amazing

Elsa's journey illustrates One has to have the courage to become the woman who can create the evocative art she wishes to create.
Tlotus And of course the $Money, to travel the world like that!!

I love Tiffany’s and I love her jewelry designs! I have many of her pieces!
Absolutely mesmerizing and eloquent.
Stunning! Definitely in a class all her own.
Simple and stunning 👌👌👌
She was a role model, lived the best of her time, was inspired in Florence, in Barcelona, in New York. And then created and moved ahead.
Stunning work! She is a very rare talent in the world of modern jewelry. Maybe she singularly defined "modern jewelry"?
I'm sure I speak for many people, you can feel her love for Halston in every piece she designed.

Beautiful story!
I love her taste! Thanks to Halston series ♥️
She was blessed, privileged to create & work at what she was gifted with.
The narrator and script writer is trying to sell this hard. I never knew Peretti designed these classic pieces.
There still very popular today that's just shoes her intelligence and creativity
Of course you didnt. Female accomplishments are swept under the rug by patriarchy if they interfere with the presumed superiority of the male.
RIP Elsa Peretti 😢
I found one of her open heart rings at the thrift store for 8 bucks.
Yes, it truly is forever modern.
I love her! She’s fabulous
