    I can definitely vouch for Hide and Seek being cool (Despite some other game modes being better). The fact auras get revealed is a good compromise to ensure you can't hide in the same place forever. The difference with a normal game is that you actually know people are hiding, so it won't be as frustrating. From a game design perspective it's very interesting as well since it completely recontextualizes the game so that every perk, killer, item has new chances to be used in interesting ways, which is what some custom game modes should actually do.
    5v5 and 2v8 are in essence still normal DbD gameplay. Which is fine, but from time to time you would like to deviate further from the formula since there are opportunities there for people who think they've seen everything to experience something new. Probably shouldn't be their first priority, but even if you wouldn't personally play it, I think it will be a great fit for some people.

  • @Bodyknock
    @Bodyknock 8 месяцев назад +7

    Regarding Swapped Perspectives, I think that would work better as a specific killer's unique ability versus than as an entire game mode for all killers. So much like part of what makes Chucky unique is that he plays in 3rd person perspective, you could have another killer that has as part of their kit that all the survivors play in 1st person perspective that match.
    An off the top of my head example could be a Medusa killer who forces survivors to play in 1st person perspective, and also if the Medusa is visible on the survivor's screen then they suffer increasingly worse penalties the longer they see it. That would force survivors into not just a more claustrophobic view of their surroundings, but also it would flip the script in that the survivors would want to not actively stare directly at the killer during chases, for example, to avoid becoming hindered or hurt by it's ability.

  • @doctorrogue1923
    @doctorrogue1923 8 месяцев назад +6

    Bear in mind, the modes with multiple killers will likely take a LONG time due to the fact that most of the killer abilities would have to be recoded in some way, for example Pigs traps currently (from the videos I have seen) will instantly trigger and kill a survivor if there is a second killer due to the fact that the boxes just don't spawn, or the fact that a lot of abilities use varying levels of "charge" to determine power gauges, and some are way more precise like plague or myers, where some like ghostface use very little, which can interact in odd ways.

They could implement that very quickly and it could serve as a down payment to us....like letting us know that ok you guys gave us this so we'll give you a bit more leeway to get going on the other more involved modes. I like the idea of the 5v5, i can imagine it now, bodyblocking the enemy killer from entering the toilet room in the meat plant map while your survivors complete the generator

    It could be fun if they brought in the deathgarden mode which was just delivery.
    You get a time limit to gather blood from points around the map and deliver it to one of 3 spots. Each post has an amount needed to deliver so that when the time runs out an exit gate will open there and scavengers just need to touch the platform once its fully formed to leave instantly. If all 3 points are fully delivered its a scavenger domination and the exit gates open early. When the exit gates are opening and all time after that all scavengers are revealed unless they are invisible or stand in a smokescreen (could make this unless they have a perk to hide themselves briefly). Scavengers have 2 minutes to get out after gates are fully formed.

    2v8 sounds like a fun thing that would be relatively simple to implement. An idea I didn't see in there that's kinda related is making different teams of survivors that compete with each other, like a 1v2v2 or perhaps 1v3v3. It could be that you can only exit through your team gate, but there are only enough generators to power one set of gates. The hatch could accept one person at a time and respawn elsewhere after a bit so a team of 3 isn't completely hopeless if they lose the generator game and the killer has more time to chase. Survivors could lay tripwire (knocks survivors into downed state that takes 3-6sec to fully recover and then can pick themselves up, not interrupted if picked up by killer), rubber bear (very easy to escape and can only inflict minor status conditions), and noise (makes loud noise that killer will see and can also make survivor scream) traps. Survivors could also stun each other with pallets. Perhaps survivors could shove each other, as a way to kick them off gens or interrupt healing, and if shoved off a ledge into a large fall or into a used pallet or breakable wall (breaking the thing in the process) you lose a health state. There could still be altruism between teams, because ultimately they're both still against the killer. Hopefully that's a nice balance of creating a new dimension to the game as a different game mode while still retaining the same core, and is relatively easy to implement. Behavior could even go all social and make a clan system, which would both kinda serve as matchmaking as well as giving players, both killers and survivors, a framework to hedge their bets about how well or how badly the two teams of survivors will function. Think of the clan or team oriented outfits and skins, Behavior. So much recycling of content and people will eat it.

  • @zackattack5803
    @zackattack5803 8 месяцев назад +2

    5v5 is such a cool concept. 2v8 seems fun don't get me wrong, but it's still essentially just survivors vs killers. The idea that survivors would work WITH a killer opens up so many unique interactions.
    One that comes to mind immediately is you play as survivor, see an enemy survivor running from your killer, and you run and body block a pallet so your killer can get them. Depending on how they change the objective of gens, it would possibly add a level of strategy where a team of survivors might do a gen in a spot that would be conventionally bad for them, but by doing so they avoid a 3 gen, or force the other team into a 3 gen.
    We need the greatest minds of dbd to sit down and hash out ideas YESTERDAY.

      @@Kubui10 I agree. Taking away the possibility to play certain game modes (if they manage to be more fun than the base game) can actually lead to people quitting the game faster if they are forced to go back. I've seen it happen before.
      Even just 100 people consistent playing at any time can be enough for a permanent queue, albeit a slow one. Hence why, should a large amount of custom games for one of the custom game modes show a critical mass like that has been achieved, it * can * be (but doesn't have to be) turned into a more permanent queue.

    1. 2v8(friends)
    2. Zombies(triple blight???)
    3. Lucky of the Draw(I feel like longer standing players would enjoy this more than the casual players)
    4. Bumrush (looping at 200% speed sounds fun even if the speed to the killer is the same hopefully they don't just double it and instead increase by 100%
    5. Swapped Perspectives(not super interesting but could add horror aspect for survivor but its undoubtedly killer sided and could possibly be unfun depending on the camera angle when working a gen also if you were looking at it you could get grabbed easily
    6. Deceivers (IMO they shouldn't do this as they're actual good Social deduction games and they shouldn't waste they're time to make a mid one that will take even more time from the actual game to make good)

    I feel like 2v8 might be a bit too survivor sided. 2 chases means 6 generators. If there’s 2 hooked/caged, still means 2-4generators being worked on. Depending on how they balance it I think survivor would sweep most matches. Maybe a 2v6? 2 chases, someone going for rescues, and the others on gens.

    I can see a killer vs killer game mode where the objective is to sacrifice the most survivors, and the killers can do things to slow the other killer down. Only difficult part is finding a motivation for survivors to play, and how to prevent teaming.

    Mix bumrush, 5v5, and VIP? Or is that too much?
    • Both teams have 1 killer and 4 survs
    • All allied auras are shown at all times in blue
    • All allues, including the killer, do not collide with each other
    • Each team has one surv as the obsession, guaranteed (even if no obsession perks are in play)
    • This allied aura is shown at all times in white
    • All other survs respawn indefinitely with a respawn timer that gets longer each death
    • The match is in a 10-Minute-Long end game collapse
    • The "point" gesture creates a sound notification for your killer to help them out
    • Special Item: Shiv - Allows a survivor to deal a health state of damage to a nearby enemy survivor. Also inflicts Hemorrhage. If this damage would down a survivor, inflict Deep Wounds and Hemorrhage instead. 30 second cooldown after use.
    • All survivors spawn/respawn with a shiv, and may not drop it. Survivors may not use/bring other items.
    • First team to get the obsession on the enemy team killed wins
    • Alternatively, the team with the most hook actions and shiv uses at the end of the timer wins; bloodpoint totals break ties

    5v5 would be interesting, but there would need to be some kind of indicator as to what survivors you're working with vs the ones you're hunting. Could the killers hurt each other, or at least stun each other? Imagine playing as deathslinger and reeling in a nurse who was just about to smack your teams meghead down.

    I remember there also being a mode mentioned where the fog is just…really thick. That one sounds least interesting to me. Hide and seek actually sounded cool because it removes gens and hooks and their auras are automatically revealed every so often. So I imagine perks wouldn’t be allowed here, or so I’d hope/imagine. If that’s the case, it would be in my top 5, maybe top 3!

    Honestly, I don't even think they need a luck of the draw *game mode*, they should just add it as a toggle in the load out screen. I have a couple friends that deliberately die to EGC on a regular basis so they don't complete the random load out rift challenge so they can do it just about every match. It's a lot of fun and a nice way to shake the game up, even if you're the only one doing it each match.

    If 2v8 was a team of survivors and a killer vs the other team and each tries to do better than the other side. Idk how it would be other than that because two killers would just gang up on one survivor and it’s impossible to loop both they would just pull knight strategy and one goes one way one goes the other and you’re just dead.

    Has it ever occurred to anyone that 2v8 might be a little unmanageable for the killer. It's always been a concern of mine. Thinking sensibly, wouldn't 2v6 work better, or 3v8?
    Another mode I wish was considered is a simple point based mode with generic objectives.
    Gens: earn you points. Hooks: earn you points. Kills: earn you points. Cankers: earn you points. -- but the objective is a tug of war with the other team. If a survivor dies or leaves, their contribution (being points) ends - and it's up to whoever's still alive.

    Zombie Tag and 5v5 sound really fun. Having a killer on your team sounds so fun xD then its also no longer us vs them in terms of survivor and killer but rather our team vs your team and you would actually want to see the killer/survivors succeed.     One thing that baffles me though;
    The game can't even handle more than 2 zombies (with the most simple yet dysfunctional AI ever) and now the game could possibly handle complex stuff like prop hunt or 2v8?
    Like, modes like this would need to almost rewrite entire map layouts and totem spawns, not to mention how difficult juggling Killer powers would be (just imagine 2 Dull Merchants or Knights guarding a 3-gen, wouldn't even need to kick gens XD).
    Of course this mode wouldn't be serious (and probably wouldn't affect MMR due to how it would be less balanced than DBD day 1) but DBD wasn't supposed to _be_ serious in the first place, people would scream for balance changes mere _days_ after it would be released and then BHVR would have to work double-duty to balance both modes (even though it takes a long-ass time to even balance one).
    Not saying it wouldn't be fun at first, being able to play Killer with a friend or Survivors turning into chests or pallets sounds awesome, but the sweat would creep in the new mode pretty quickly and the new mode would get in the same sitch we currently are in: Incredibly slow balance updates which would now also slow the _other_ mode's balance update. Not to mention that with how unstable the game already is (every update breaks something completely unrelated to said update) every patch would probably break even more stuff.
    HOWEVER: BHVR has a _lot_ of employees and I honestly wouldn't mind a spin-off DBD game, made by an entirely _different_ team, centered around those modes. That way the new modes wouldn't interfere with the main game AND would have a brand new, non-spaghetti coded base to work with which would make the devs's life much easier since less stuff would break every patch and the modes wouldn't have to almost rewrite the game from the ground up.

    I want fully integrated support for running random perks in normal games. Just import the Nightlight Build Challenge:
    -Random (Unique) Build Generator
    -Every unique build run gets 1 point
    -Unique Build Checker to see how many times a build has been run, if ever.
    -All-time leaderboard
    -Monthly leaderboard that syncs with Rank Reset. The top x% gets some bloodpoints, top 10 or something gets better stuff.
    -If every possible build on either side has ever been run, extra large rewards for the All Time leaders and the whole thing starts over again.
    People already play for Adepts! Long-time players get bored and try meme builds! The Random Perks Tome is one of the only ones I've seen positive feedback on. Come on BHVR, do it!!

    I still think it would be a great idea to have a seasonal game mode -- as in every chapter has a unique game mode as a highlight, and for the first couple of weeks it gives more bloodpoints as an incentive for people to try it out. Once a new chapter rolls out, this game mode is retired and gives way to a new one. If the community reacts really badly to a game mode, it's fine because it will go away. If they react positively, they will want more people to play it while it's still up and BHVR can bring it back sometimes for special events and such.
    I think they could even consider a staggered release for the game mode, for example, let a new chapter come out and people try the new killer/map/survivor on the regular game mode with no distractions, but then on the mid-season patch, a new game mode is introduced and it stays until the end of the season. It would give some more spice to the mid-season update and wouldn't distract from the new killer release.

    I really hope they do the game modes soon, I have the same fear of the game dying or losing its playerbase before they do this, especially since I feel like it's gonna start going downhill faster than it already has ever since Otz kinda lost hope. Obviously Otz isn't the end all be all, but it is rather massively discouraging to see one of DBD's most adamant defender (probably not the right word) lose hope and will probably start making many others, especially big fans of his, also lose some hope in the game. It's all a snowball effect. It maybe slow but it's coming.

    Some of these game modes look very interesting, I do hope that whichever one they pick is released with rules of thumb being kept in mind and certain things that would typically be rendered abusable not an issue. Like for 2v8 I wouldn’t find it very fun if I could just get double hit instantaneously but maybe have a 2.5-3 second immunity and then it’d be totally cool.

Nothing that should ever be done serious as much as a fun little mode but it would be pretty hilarious given the survivor is given enough tools to escape and slip around the killers.

    I've said this before and I'll say it again.
    There is almost zero chance of us ever getting a new, full-on game mode. We all know how terrible their Spaghetti code is... Adding new perks/killers or even rebalancing perks/killers/maps always causes the game to break in 10 other ways.
    How on Earth would BHVR manage to program an entirely new gamemode into their game that is practically held together by duct tape.
    In my opinion, if DBD has gone almost 8 years without implementing a single new game mode, there's almost no chance it will ever happen. If it was a realistic possibility for them and their capabilities, they would have already done so years ago, how are people not seeing that?
    They spent ages telling us we'd get a mechanic in the early game similar to how we got the EGC and they just couldn't work out how to do it, so scrapped the idea entirely. Yes, that could have purely been down to them struggling to balance something like that properly... But it also could have very likely been due to technical limitations (which I find far more believable, it's not like BHVR have had any problems releasing unbalanced perks/killers in the past).
    I feel like BHVR are flat out misleading people with that Survey, trying to get people excited and generating positive conversations but with zero intentions on actually implementing any of these.
