After finding that the LS3 we purchase had a damage chain guide we decided to take the engine apart and rebuild it! Major thanks to Holley Performance for helping us with the build! www.holley.com/

You guys need to put a aftermarket harmonic balancer on it. It is the most common expensive problem to fix in LS's but if you do it now you won't have to spend the 8 hours ish labor in the future replacing it.

Double check the crank and cam sprockets- they have marks on them so you can line them up, it’s dumb easy. And Those aren’t aftermarket springs those are the “ls6” or the gm performance springs. They are fine for that cam, which if you do have the 525 is the biggest cam gm makes stock. Those bearing looked brand new. Lots of people said to do the ls2 tensioner but the gen4 engines have asymmetrical teeth on the cam sprocket, the spring type you replaced is made for it. The ls2 style will work I have one in my engine and it’s fine. And let me save you some time; check to make sure you have the fbody bellhousing, not the ctsv one. Otherwise your magnum-F will be cocked about 6 degrees to the right and you will drive yourself nuts trying to figure out why it doesn’t line up. (Ask me how I know) Also, the ls7 clutch with the stock fbody throw out bearing (not the green corvette one), pressure plate and flywheel fits perfectly. You don’t even need to measure throw out. Can’t wait to see this car all done 😎

I'm glad you guys went through the process and learned here for the next build. As I said in the last video, it's extremely common to see a lot of silver-ish metal shavings/flakes in a brand new engine that was just run in. A little bit odd that the timing chain guide broke but it is a plastic part and if this truly was a race truck build I can see this being a common occurence as it's likely the weakest part of the assembly.

Crosshatching is for holding oil on the cylinders instead of it washing off of a smooth surface so the cylinders always stay lubricated reducing friction and reducing wear. All ice engines burn oil for this reason but miniscule ammounts which is also why you should change your oil at regular intervals.
But all in all my boy is right for 99% of what he said.
