As a layperson, years ago I started off with a lead cell battery, an inverter and a plug-in battery charger, then moved on to small solar generators, with a Jackery 160 & 240 (they both still work great) and one of their portable solar panels. I really didn't like the solar panel being proprietary without an adapter and not weatherproof, but I do like a grab and go type generator (I have a dual fuel inverter generator also, since I live in a climate that, depending on the season, doesn't get a lot of sun, as a backup). I've since moved on to a couple of much larger Eco Flows (I like the parallel feature and I have a portable solar panel for these) and a larger Bluette with lifepo4 (2500 life cycles). I like that the Eco Flows and Bluette have MC4 connectors to use with my hard solar panels. I watch Will's channel too and this year, with the knowledge I've gained, am putting together my first stationary solar system. Never thought I'd be doing this in my 70's! BTW, I gave the Jackery's to my son and daughter-in-law as a beginner kit.
Hi Professor! I bought one. It arrived yesterday. Thank you for the review. I’ve needed this for a while now. I was too cheap to get the 2000 when it was available so I didn’t want to miss out again. Will definitely follow your hack & links for solar panels. Always appreciate your hard work! Thank you
I bought one of these about 2 weeks ago, PROS----- It does charge fast off home outlet or solar power, it ran my stand up freezer by itself for over 24 hours, it will take solar from my own 200 watt outdoor panels after buying the adapters hobotech recommends, I can carry it around, I like the display that tells you how many watts of solar is coming in and how many watts of energy is going out and what percentage of battery you have left. I like that it has a pure sine inverter and ran whatever I hooked up to it smoothly. CONS- Like everyone is saying the 8020 plug in jacks for solar suck I had to buy( mc4 - 8mm 7909) to the (8020 adapters) to hook my solar panels more money and skinny little 14 gauge wires, I am lucky to get 65% of my rated solar capacity on a sunny day in central Arizona. And you can't leave the solar hooked up all night expecting it to just start sending watts through it in the morning you have to disconnect the solar and reconnect it, and sometimes it just randomly turns off the solar input during the day like today when I was at 95% battery with 800 watts of panel hooked up and getting 425 watts max it just stopped taking solar so I had to un plug the solar from the back and re hook it it and then it seems to be working fine again. Overall its a well built unit with some solar charging issues caused by jackery trying to force you to buy there over priced solar panels. I will get a bluetti or ecoflow next time.
When I asked Jackery if I could get adaptors for the charging inputs on my Explorer 1500, (for use with my *own* solar panels) they sent me a *handful* without charge. THANK you, Jackery! Best product support. Period. Thanks for the review, Prof. Hobo!
I lost a charger and the Professor told me to contact Jackery for a replacement. They ended up sending me one for free. They are very good at customer support. Thank you Professor!!!
Lithium ION batteries!? .... I'm out... Your competitors are going with Lifepo4 however you are keeping with old battery tech. What about Bluetti and it's 3500 cycles to 80%? Good to see it charge faster than 200 watts though, that's an improvement over the older Jackery power stations! Sorry you had to review this Hobotech!
@@HOBOTECH so true and I knew that... I was too angry I waited all day for this to find out it wasn't LFP lol... old "trends", sorry I should have said "trends" not tech haha. Price is going to be above $2500 is my guess and they didn't want to completely kill the excitement for it.
NMC is better when you need light weight, small size, and portability. Jackery knows most people use them outdoors (motto: power outdoors). If you want a 60lb slug in a box twice the size then simply get a Bluetti AC200P.
Great Job!! I find it funny that Jackery still has the same issues with solar input connections. I did go to check out the price to see if I would have a reason to consider it over Ecoflow....and for me the answer is NO. I can get a New Delta Pro for $3240 or a Delta Max for $1890, and not have to do adapters for solar panels and added expandability and ton more power options. Thanks Prof.Hobo for helping keep us informed.
Thank you for another great review! You always provide the important information that can’t be found anywhere else. I just received the 2000 pro from jackery with the hobotech 10% discount.(230 thank yous!) I like everything about it. The discount surely did. Very happy Thanks again!
I just bought it and should receive it in a couple of days. Two things made me buy it: less weight to carry around (20 lbs less than the competition!), and smaller size for the same power. I don't mind the "limited" number of charge cycles, because I don't intend to drain it fully and recharge it to 100% every single day for the next 3 years anyway!
This is a great product for a power outage! Quick shipping, beautiful unit, easy to use Used for RV. Liked because it was RV ready. Westinghouse WGen3600DFc Portable Generator I love this little generator. So easy to use So glad we got this one.. it’s easy to set up Perfect design snd and power for large camper. Easy setup and using it for our 39 ft. Trailer!
I'm so glad to see that the 2000 has the flat top with handle that you can pull up. I've been wanting that on my Jackery 1500. Nice that Jackery is listening to its users.
I like the product. Jackery has been a quality product for me. Glad to see the upgrades and performance of the generator. Anytime a company makes improvements, it forces the industry to up its game. It’s a win for users of any solar generator.
Hey there Travel Dreamer 46. Good to see you here. My sister just got this Jackery solar generator set up, so I sent this link to her. Been following HoboTech since he first started out in his Roadtrek. ~Sue
I went with a eb200 bluetti miller tech. It's the equivalent of the ac200p. I also got the bluetti pv350 panel. I thought I heard you say you would do a review of that panel. Did I miss it? Anyways it was you that led me to Bluetti over a Jackery and seeing your review on this latest product from Jackery assures me I made the right choice. This thing is a monster! I was getting 412 watts when I first used the panels on 2 days but since then only see 325ish on similar sunny days. Perhaps it was a calibration thing as the 400 plus watts have never been seen again. You're the best!
Nice unit but for $3,600 with 2 panels I'll stick with my Bluetti AC200max and 2 batteries that I got during their spring sale. For about $600 more I have 3 times the capacity, a better battery chemistry and a 2200 watt output. I am a little jealous that I don't have the SOS function though. LOL
Just got back home first thing I did was watch this. Very interesting product, your review as usual is factual and filled with awesome information. As for the few pounds gained, being single myself and loving mac and cheese, HB helper etc., not exactly health food lol, I have put on a few myself. Wishing you a super week, God Bless.
I went with a refurbished Jackery 2000 pro over the Bluetti 200p, still $89 more than a brand new Bluetti. I'm a trucker and the extra weight on the lithium phosphate Bluetti is just too much for me. And I'm not running a lot of stuff. And that was my decision point.
I don't understand people complaining about battery chemistry. Sure you lose that 20% faster, but people are setting their ecoflows to never actually use that extra 20% anyway. It may as well not even exist. I get that their more combustible but none of us are thinking twice about storing a lithium ion battery in our pants pocket all day every day or 1000 little lithium ion devices scattered around our homes. It's like using a chinese made smart phone to complain about things not being made in the U.S.
Hi Mr. Hobotech! I just purchased by 2000 Pro with (4) 200W panels and got $499 off with your code. Holy crap!!!! Also, I almost pee'd my pants at the 'disco alien' scene, LMAO!!!! This was the most lucrative youtube video I've ever seen... EVER! And it closed the deal for me vs. the Goal Zero option.
Just purchased a PowerBen Plus. I've been looking for a portable power supply that had USB C PD but the battery size and the 12V outputs were just such a bonus I couldn't find anything that even came close for the money. Thank Prof. Hobo!! Now that I'm retired I may see you in Quartzite next winter as I avoid the Canadian winter.
That audio test is indicative of big problems if you're using this with ham radios. If it gives interference at audio frequencies the harmonics are likely to be much, much worse at radio frequencies. My bet is that this will be unusable on HF and possibly VHF/UHF. Try charging it on a GFCI outlet and see if it trips it.
This is really a shame, I hoped Jackery could do better - my choice therefore is the Bluetti AC200MAX, it has very low interferences, so I can power my whole ham radio equipment in my shack - there is also a big difference to the Jackery, because the Bluetti provides 30 Amp DC out, and this is a really important feature we need, especially when we are outdoor - I really like the Jackery products concerning the quality, but now Bluetti wins with it‘s specs in this class ! Thank you very much HOBOTECH for your detailed and honest independent reviews, they are really good 😎 - greetings from Germany 👋 Claudia DF1UX
I have always liked my Jakery 1000 but hate the big handle on top which makes it difficult to stack and store. I like the new folding handle. I don't really care if it has a built in AC charger. If an external brick burns up, it's easier to replace it or just swap it out than one that is built into the generator. I am not a musician so don't care about the noise. Excellent review, thanks. Correction, the power in California, at least in the north rarely goes out. Guess who spammed me while watching the review? Patriot. LOL
@@HOBOTECH Right! About the Jackery solar panels. Have you tested to see if THEIR solar panels can can actually fully charge the generator in 6 hours or whatever they say it does? Many reviews of the 4Patriot solar charger say that for instance, it takes 2 days of full sunshine just to partially charge 1 smartphone and therefore it's no good off grid. Where is Jackery based? Are Jackery's solar panels more efficient than other solar panels, and do they last longer outdoors?
Picked my 2000 and 4x 200w panels on Prime Day for $1400 off. Super impressed with the build quality of both the panels and the charger. Built to last for sure.
i love your videos Thank you for so much information for all the testing you do I appreciate the quality videos you make.🎉🙌🏻 just got my hands on one for 2,220$
This is actually a pretty sweet power station from Jackery, the only thing holding me back is the price tag. I can't justify the price that they are asking.
I love Jackery but it always seems like they are trying to play catchup with the competitors. Nice product just a couple of years behind everyone else unfortunately. I have a Yeti Goal Zero 1500X with the Battery Bank Expansion Modul and I absolutely love it! I can throw it in the car and charge it from the Car Charge kit from the car alternator or throw it back into battery bank mode and use it for the houses power supply with a click of a button ( I have 2 200ah Renogy Lead Acids Batteries hooked up to it for extended power).
In case of a black out, I need a portable solar power generator that can run my 12 volt home refrigerator all day everyday for an affordable price. Which one should I get?
I been Looking for the right Battery. But thank to You, I think I finally fond it! The Jackery Company better be Honest about there advertisement. Having to buy this type of Battery to power up your appliances must be very reliable and convenient. The Only thing I'm not buying is that fact that if you have your own solar pawer on your roof, having that many solar panel to store instead of using your own solar panel is very inconvenient. That, alone is a disadvantage for the consumer that doesn't have a lot of space in there Van. You have an A+ on this video. Thank you. :-) And by the way,...for the price there asking, they should include two Sola Panel.
After the battery in the Jackery 2000 Pro will no longer work, can the battery be replaced or is your generator just junk? I am thinking about buying one but I cannot spend that much money for something that will only last about 3 to 5 years. What do you think the total life of the generator and the solar panels are? Since it is only guaranteed for five years, is this probably how long it will last? If you do not charge it everyday does it mean that it will last that much longer? If you allow it to run down and do not charge it until you need it, will that make it even last longer? Jackery says that you can use six of their 200 watt panels. If you use your own like from an rv, how do you determine if they are more or less than the 1200 max allowed on the Jackery? This is all new to me but I thought it would be nice to have for a power outage. Thanks James Lewis
I'm a solgen addict - I have 29 of them (Please don't tell my wife). The odd connectors and plugs that I can not interchange or easily buy from Amazon and the low life cycle batteries are why I own ZERO Jackerys.
Great review. Iam a 77 year old senior and don’t know much about electricity. But I live in a city in which power outages are common, they normally don’t last days, but they last an average of 3-15 hours. For how many hours do you think this Jackery could power my 7 year old Sears (I think it is 120V), refrigerator? Or any other similar power stations that could supply my needs? Thank very much.
I sure hope that nu faincy jack in the boxery will run my dee walt combo cordless blow dryer, can opener, AC fridgerater. Got plans to visit a new trailer park and I love producks from Merica. Much ablidged Mr Professir for all the legwork.
Lithium NMC is a good choice for the high capacity portable power stations. A 150lb person has to be able to carry it easy no 1000 cycles is still a lot.
It's good for capacity but they are charging more than all the LFP 1800-2200wh units which have 3-4x the cycle life. I don't mind NMC, but I feel like they shouldn't charge so much for a battery that lasts a fraction of the time. Energy density is nice but in all the photos its a camp where you need to carry or wheel stuff in anyway so they are already too big.
I already bought a jackery 500 last month and have no reason to watch this video, but I did for 30 minutes anyway, purely for the lolz. And I was not disappointed
Hey! Love the product reviews. I keep seeing other RUclipsrs charging up their solar generators with car dash DC and using "3rd Party" adapters. One even commented that hers almost caught fire. Clearly these cheap knockoffs are not designed to handle the wattage that the SGs require or CAN draw. Why risk many THOUSANDS of dollars by saving a few Lincoln's on a cheap adapter? Looking forward to more!
Gotta love Hobotech. As for Jackery and their alleged discount, just another classic example of what's wrong with this America. I'm not making a political statement. I'm making a statement about there is no truth in advertising, they can't even be honest about the roll out price. That pretty much is telling me all I needed to know. Much thanks for all your hard work on these video's and to your continued success!!!
I noticed that when you showed the sign wave on your meter that the very tops and bottoms of the sine wave were flat not rounded as they should be for a true pure sine wave. I do not know if this is a limitation of your sine wave meter or it is in fact accurate. If the meter is accurate then this is not a pure sine wave and that could be why you are getting a motorize sound when you did the speaker sound test. You might want to look into this closer.
I love how the ad before the video started to play was for the Bluetti AC300. 🤣 Watched the Jackery Day launch (with Star Lord himself Chris Pratt), and I was not impressed; $2,300 for what is essentially a AC200P, but with a 100W USB-C PD, and is about twenty pounds lighter than the Bluetti. Going to stick with the Bluetti which is cheaper and heavier, and use the money saved to get some heavier dumbbells to pump up my arm strength. 💪
I don't know how I feel about this one I got a jackery products but I only have 1 solar saga 100w and a knock off 100 panel so now I need to buy 200 watt panels? another solar saga 100 cost 299.00. Frankly the Bluetti 200p and a extra battery seems like a better Idea to me good review hobotech but how long would it take to recharge this thing with just 200 watts of solar panels and I don't know it didn't look to much bigger then a bread box.
Adding modular features would make it even more expensive. Jackery knows their customers are the outdoors crowd that would just buy a 2nd Jackery over an expansion battery.
Thanks for your tests :-) I love your conclusion. This product is nice - real nice. But nothing more in today's Market. I would have bought this one in 2020 instead of the Explorer 1000 because of the extended Solar Charge Capacity. Having the opportunity to charge this one up in Camping very quckly is a big step forward. But for this you pay the price of more weight. I hope Jackery puts this BMC also to the 1000 because this is for me the sweat spot for Camping Electricity - I don't need more energy when I'm moving. And to be honest - for a Blackout Backup the Jackeries are nice but a Blutet AC200, P or Max with modular Batteries is far better in all Criteria - Weight don't madder so much to me for a Home Backup Solution.
Your site is blocked by Policy where I work, so I can't check the price yet. Excellent, thorough review. I'm probably in the LiFePO4 troll camp though; since I would buy a great big power station like this for long term grid-down scenarios like what our Sun is likely to do to us within the year. While it is definitely a step up for Jackery, for the [likely] price, non-LiFePO4 is a dealbreaker for me. I also agree with you about the proprietary connectors. The XT60 that Ecoflow uses is bad enough, but this is just silly; they want to deliberately make their product proprietary in an industry with clear standards, I can deliberately keep my wallet corked.
NO FRAKKING LiFePo4?!!!!! Jackery is dead to me. Jackery is basically GoalZero, trying to hold on to brand recognition in a space where the competitors have left them in the dust long ago. There are some stupid choices that show they are followers and not leaders. Two MPPTs? This is probably because they refuse to abandon the 7909 jack. People need to move towards XT60 and just provide an adapter. 12v10A output is ghetto. I like the 25A of my AC200P. Screen is basic, where is smartphone app? No bi-directional USB-C? Only 3 AC outlets? Nothing is bad but nothing makes this stand out. As far as I can tell AC200Max is better in every way. Cheaper by several 400$ or nearly 20% for a device that is 2 or 3 generations in, has an app, and is expandable. AC200Max just needs a UPS function.

Thanks for your Note so Ecoflows and Jacks are not Lifephos, right?
As I was watching the review I’ve notice that the display doesn’t time out after 10 seconds anymore but you didn’t mention about it in the review.
You can double press "display" to get it to stay on. I think I forgot to put that in. I cut a lot to keep it under 30 mins.
Probably
I'll give that a try. I was really shocked.
If it is from Jackery expect it to be priced at the far end of the spectrum.
Imagine being excited to launch a product that is literally years behind. *head shakes in disappointment*
That is half the size and weight and much better for those wanting good portability you mean?
Which product you think is not years behind?
No competition for Bluetti with it’s 3000+ rechargeable cycles to 80%.
I want to give you 2 thumbs up! Excellent review
12/10 video. Quality information. Shown tests. And an alien party 👽 quality stuff
Patriot. LOL
I always appreciate your videos. Thanks.
Nice unit, would be a welcome asset to camp,or while traveling
I LOVE that this Jackery is a lowkey UPS!
I've been looking for a UPS backup
If only this offered more outlets...
Use a power strip.
1400 off? isnt that only $400🤯
I have to agree with the professor in regards to the Jackery using the 8020 inputs. It's an outright stick up.
OMG!!! I loved this video! Cracking up the whole time. I am definitely watching this episode again. Thanks for what you do!
Want to REALLY enjoy it? Try watching it at 1.5 speed .. I LOVE doing that .. 😆
i love your videos Thank you for so much information for all the testing you do I appreciate the quality videos you make.🎉🙌🏻 just got my hands on one for 2,220$
Awesome review. Too bad about the amp test noise. Thanks for sharing
This is actually a pretty sweet power station from Jackery, the only thing holding me back is the price tag. I can't justify the price that they are asking.
2G's is a bit hard to swallow.
Nice review, no competition for the Bluetti MAX
Love the alien dance sequence. Great review keep em comn
I went with the Bluetti ac200 max
I already bought a jackery 500 last month and have no reason to watch this video, but I did for 30 minutes anyway, purely for the lolz. And I was not disappointed
It still cracks me up to see a 4Patriots battery ad on your channel. 😂
At 21:50, The strobe was not a 'nightclub/disco' flashing, it was a SOS signal - three short/three long.
That's just a running joke on the channel, he does it with every SOS signal.
Good information. I would just recharge mine in the garage so the noise level wouldn’t be that big an issue.
glad I bought the Pecron last week with your code, this jackery launch was a bummer
March twelfth?!? Oopsies. 26:57 NBD
Everything else was perfect.
Thanks for staying up late to bring us a thorough and professional review.
I don't think there was any flat spot, I think it's a meter screen resolution limitation.
Thanks for the review.
7:58 "... to make sure it doesn't start smoking, doing drugs...". I spit out my coffee!
Hilarious, I like how you do the alien dance & spaceship coming in. Enjoyed your review of the Jackery 2000 PRO.
You are a nerd! And I mean that with the utmost respect. The information you provide is very much appreciated! Be well my friend!
Great review Hobo
I don't know how I feel about this one I got a jackery products but I only have 1 solar saga 100w and a knock off 100 panel so now I need to buy 200 watt panels? another solar saga 100 cost 299.00. Frankly the Bluetti 200p and a extra battery seems like a better Idea to me good review hobotech but how long would it take to recharge this thing with just 200 watts of solar panels and I don't know it didn't look to much bigger then a bread box.
Thank you for your great reviews.
But Jackery, no support for expansion batteries? Your design team came up with that call?
Adding modular features would make it even more expensive. Jackery knows their customers are the outdoors crowd that would just buy a 2nd Jackery over an expansion battery.
Can we hook this Jackery 2000 pro up to our electrical panel to run our house? Is there an adapter out there?
i bought the jackery 2000, just curious why did it fail? they didn't make very many so people couldn't buy them . they sold out in a day.
Failed due to pandemic crushing supply chains.
Thanks for review. What is the power drain when left "ON" but not powering any devices.
What size gas generator would I need to charge a 2000 Jacary Thank you sir.
Thanks for a great video as usual!
I just bought an electric ATV that has 8 batteries. Would a Jackery be a good option for charging this vehicle?
I wish Jackery would consider adding 12Vdc Anderson Power Pole output connectors on the future Jackery’s.
It would have been nice to have an option to add an external battery (making it modular like everyone else)
That's not what Jackery is about.
Bluetti would be your go-to for that, and they do LiFePO4
@@HOBOTECH yeah I get that. They target outdoor enthusiasts. But for 2,299 I would expect more. I guess I’m spoiled by my ac200 max lol.
Great reviews always 👍
LOVE your videos, you are the best at reviews 👍Thanks for the info so I now know that this unit is not for me!
I need easy to use Solar power like the Jackery. Not real tech savvy but I love my 1000.
love the sos light...nice review!
