Thank you thank you thank you!❤❤
This is my first Pecron, and charging with solar is the absolute best and is what I’ve been waiting for. 3 SOLAR CONTROLLERS! Wow it’s been great 🎉 I have an array that hits heavy till early morning to 2:30pm and my second array that hits heavy from about 11am till about 8 pm!
I was not happy about the proprietary AC wall charge, but now I really don’t care whatsoever because that is not my main case use. I literally have it snapped into the side of the machine, but not plugged into the wall. It’s stationary and I’m not moving my SoGen so I will never lose the cable. I’ve had my unit for about a week now and have been heavily testing it. Not testing it like your test, but just real use. My main goal was to run my 2 led living room lamps, internet router, 55 inch TV, two air purifiers, Roku, one old style table fan and a charging station for laptops and telephones on the other side of the room. It shows that it’s pulling between 90 and 125 Watts all the time depending on what we are using. The goal was to have plenty of power left by Morning that the solar generator could completely recharge every day and it does this extremely easily even on cloudy days.

I have the original version of this battery.
I like the change in the hub specifically the Anderson output instead of the cigarette lighter plug and the USB-C input.
I am using my Dr. Prepare to power my 12v refrigerator/freezer.
I also charge a few phones, a tablet, and running a powerful fan.
The hub is not that powerful.
If you plug in more than one device it slows down the charging.
I don't use the hub to charge it.
I have a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter to make coffee or to cook meals with an induction cooker.
This is my second summer with this battery.
    I have had zero problems.

EMF diminishes at a square of the distance, same as microwave oven radiation and fluorescent bulbs, so put this across the room. BTW, a major little known but major EMF culprit is bedside wall plugs with adapters for clock radios etc. You can't be indignant about this if there's a wall wart beside your bed.

Pecron gifted two of these units to us to try out in trade for an honest review. We live off-grid and most of the power comes from our 6000 watts of solar panels. I paired the two
Pecron's together to run our recently installed mini-split AC unit installed in our 24 ft camper trailer. When the compressor on the mini-split kicks on' it's drawing 700 watts and eventually drops down to 150 watts, the lowest number I have seen after running the mini-split all night is 68% power left. During the day the mini-split strictly runs off the solar panels. Haven't tried the 12 volt system in this unit, probably won't either. Our house batteries pretty much cover the rest of our power needs...

I had that same issue with the 1500. Much as I wanted to like Pecron the customer service killed it for me. There was no 1 (800) number to call. It was by email only and took almost a week to get a packing label only to find out I had to pay 100$ shipping and if they found it faulty they would reimburse. Just FYI. And the type C per l port only put out 65 not the 100 watt lie.

Excellent presentation. Thank you. Pecron is really coming up with some nice units, with nice features and great pricing. Plus - they keep providing very solid 12v output options with high amperage and connectors. I just love the 12v output options on all of their units for car/truck/van camping. With the exception of the crappy 10a cig outlet, Jackery and Bluetti both have remove all 12v output options on all of their new units which makes them mostly worthless for me with van/truck/van camping.

The price isn't terrible. Makes me wonder if investing in two of these with the combo connector to power the house, rather than a 8kw generator is a better move. It's just recharging them/maintaining a charge is the only concern. As opposed to keeping propane on hand.

    • @macmcleod1188
      @macmcleod1188 3 месяца назад +1

I'm a real fan of batteries and solar but it's just a fact that even a small $350 generator produces 24000 kilowatt hours over the course of 24 hours for 5 gallons (or less).
And $500, 4000w produces 96,000kwh for $30 worth of propane.
So if you're going to be without power for a week after a natural disaster, there is no reasonably priced substitute for gasoline or patrol generator.
However these batteries are excellent for the first night of a disaster when it may not be safe to set up a generator. 3 kilowatt hours is going to keep your refrigerator going about 12 to 20 hours but if you unplug for 2 hours out of every three then you're going to triple that duration.
It's going to do a great job of providing you with lighting cable modem and a fan. And it can run a 5000 BTU window unit for about 7 hours.
There is a place for having a battery and a generator. But in any serious outage, you still need a generator
And remember to change the oil and check the air filter on it per the schedule.
And of course don't leave gasoline in it.
I prefer propane as you appear to prefer.

My situation is that I live in FL where the potential for power outages is fairly high during the summer months however we can go many years with no outages. I have a dedicated 50a outlet that I can plug my gas/propane generator into using a 30/50 adaptor. I would want to use the gas generator during the daytime and the Perron in the evenings. So can I recharge the Perron with the gas generator by plugging it into a 110v on the generator or should I plug it into a wall outlet? Perhaps it does not matter? Thanks for your sound advice. JR

With the DC circuit failure, understanding the problem with trying to replicate the test and failure with the second unit, It would be interesting to know if both units shipped to you failed, indicating a system issue, and if so, what did they find and repair to fix it.
Pecron units used to have only a 110 volt AC output, which put me off, I am glad to see 120 V on this unit, but am concerned that under a hard load it drops down to 115.

Another fantastic review, per your usual standards. My question concerns the solar charging rate. You said it would take about 2.5 hours to go from 0 to 100%, if you get the full 2,500 watts of possible input. I thought that was odd, since the battery is just under 3,100wh. I would expect this to charge in 1.5 hours, at most, unless there is something which slows the charging down substantially, as it completes topping off?

Regarding the QA person who was fired: WHAT IF it worked during testing, and something got knocked around in shipping? We've all seen what rough handling can do, and sometimes the outside of the box doesn't show apparent damage. Pecron should at least test & evaluate the defective unit first, then fire away.

I hope I don't regret the decision to go with Pecron for my portable/emergency power. The EP3000 I purchased had to be returned because the solar charge controller stopped working. Pecron did fix it under warranty and it working fine at the moment. One word of caution, after 30 days the buyer is responsible for shipping even if the power station is still under warranty. The retail version of the 3600 LFP will be out soon so I hope they fixed the issue HOBOTECH experienced.

@@LeoLiburon I was told that had the issue occurred within the first 30 days of purchase they would have sent me a new one but since I was outside the 30 day window I had to ship it back at my expense. @rmclark339 I'm saying I had mine over 60 days, and they sent me a new one, so the difference might be the size, or it might be the cost, it is the smallest unit. We shall see iirc many like Bob ramblin run them 24/7 with near no issue. It's a dice everyone has to roll name brand or not. I will stick with them cause it was no hassle even when I did have an issue. If I get burned, then I will think about paying 2 or 3 times the price for another name.

Yes, this is true....we have been running our e2000lfp (full 8kw system) (24-7-365 since late 2022)
and we have been running our e1500lfp (full 7.5kw system) (24-7-365 since late 2023)
all documented on videos on the channel since the beginning :)
We split the load for my workshop and they run it with 3,000 watts of solar panels :)
note: every company has pos and negs. but we have been happy with what we bought and received from pecron so far.
(We own almost their entire lineup now, from the e2000lfp forward, including the 500 watt car charger and we just ordered the e3600lfp last week)
Once we max out the e3600lfp with 4 batteries very soon, we will run the entire shop on that 15,360wh system and put the e200lfp (8.000wh) in our rv :)
P.S. I have no problem whipping out my pecron when I need it....Great, Thanks a lot hobotech, now you have me doing it as well.....LOL

I guess to get around the AC charging while using 240v is to use AC to DC charging to mimic solar charging. The EG4 Chargeverter is what I am thinking of. Does anyone think this may work or if there are cheaper alternatives to charge this Pecron with a gas generator while utilizing the 240v power?

I love Pecron but the fact that they sneakily rushed out a beta unit to you is gonna make me think twice about going with them again when my 2000lfp eventually dies in 10+ years. At least Montek was honest with you. Can't wait to see your review on their final units btw.
Also, Pecron still having DC burnout issues is also not inspiring. They have a history of that and really need to stop cutting corners on their DC stuff.

It’d be even nicer if this unit had 2-30amps so you could UPS pass through and charged your battery while being back up and running your camper. Even better run 30 amp out of your generator then just turn off your generator when your happy with the charge level and not have to move around plugs.

Have been considering a diesel generator for backup power when winter storms hit in Montana. Haven't gone without power for more than 12hrs yet, but I'd like to put a couple of these on a transfer switch when the retail versions are available. The massive solar input is what I'm drawn to.
