I like that the Fuji doesn't over-sharpen face details. Makes for nicer highlight rolloff and just a more pleasing and filmic look.

The difference discussed is really highlighted at 7:15. First, hard to look past how gorgeous the subject is. The Fuji shot is softer in that it does not render all the texture of the face. Though I appreciate the more true to life rendering and detail the Sony image captures, many may find the softer appearance, (whether it is due to the lens sharpness, slightly missing focus, the sensor, etc.) more flattering and edit down the Sony photo to get it to the place the Fuji seems to render straight out of camera. The Fuji to some will be perfect, while Sony too clinically sharp.

This video was a good attempt at comparing the two but it didnt feel like much of an equal comparison cos the treatment for each camera was different.
The fuji videos has the wrong WB on it, and the photos for both fuji n sony were not edited the same way. It would have made a better comparison if the treatments on each cam and their photo n video outputs were the same so we can really see the difference

8:35 I specifically bought the A6600 for the tilt/flip up screen! I disagree with you that every camera should have a side flipping screen. Also, with the grip and size of its body the A6600 is the most comfortable camera I have ever held. The Fuji XT4 has no grip whatsoever so ever. I’ve never picked one up but I’m wondering how you came to the conclusion that its comfortable to hold? On battery life I don’t think there is much of a comparison, A6600 all day, all week, (maybe 2weeks :). I like the fuji’s dials also but all the customizable buttons on the A6600 and the two dials are no sloch.

massive plus for the a6600: 1. small size/weight along with much smaller lenses. For travelers this is a huge issue!!! Ergonomics are better--I can carry the a6600 along with even a large lens dangling it from my fingers from the fat right side bulging grip (with a wrist strap for safety) and it's comfortable. 2. battery life is amazing for travelers. 3. photo image quality is about the same, so size matters.

As only a photographer, one that is deeply integrated in Lightroom and uses the cloud based workflow, the weird worms with fuji RAW+ Lightroom deal broke the XT4 for me. otherwise, I would have def went for the fuji. but for now I have a a6600.. but I can say I massively miss the Film Simulations and better UI of the XT-4 (I've owned it before.) I really wish I could've gone with fuji.. but the X-Trans issues kill it for me. I'm not willing to do anything different with my workflow either. Ugh. Fuji has a vibe, but my feeling is that vibe is driving prices. I tried the Xt-30 which takes really nice pictures straight out of the camera, but returned it for bad ergonomics. Now I use the Sony A6400 and if I want that Fuji touch I take out a TTartisan lens, in a way those lenses add some softness and character to the pictures. Then edit the photos in lightroom to tweak the colors and it is pretty close to a Fuji. When I want to take good RAW's in fast environments with lots of info I just add a Sigma to the body.
I like Sony. I like Fuji (especially the looks of the hardware and JPG). But Sony is just more versatile for me.

Coming from the Fuji XT-1, it's great. However, I didn't see updating to an XT-4, and as you say, the Fuji dials are cool, but mostly pointless. That is unless you just dig the authenticity of them. Fact is, with dials switched to Apperture, Shutter, and ISO, and I need to jump to Aperture or shutter only. It takes longer on a Fuji (Chasing "A's") Period. I can simply change the mode dial. But you never hear that. As to lenses, both are very good with the slight advantage of Sony being able to take any share of the market it wants. Like Zeiss glass? There's WAY more to pick from with the Sony. The Focus speed and accuracy of the Sony is way more accurate. When all is said and done, it's the photos that do the talking. That said, I'm still glad I'm keeping my Fuji, but way happier, I moved on to a Sony A6600. Good review!

    • @anonymousl5150
      @anonymousl5150 2 года назад

@@professionalpotato4764 The XH2S is an overpriced camera that can't even stabilize as well as a xt4 and all its "upgraded" video capabilities are either nerfed in terms of noise (e.g 240p) or color grading restriction (4k 120p). The xf 100-400 is a mediocre lens in sharpness compared to sony full frames, hell it gets edged out even by sony apsc 70-350. The xf 150-600 is up to modern standards but has a f8 restriction, you're better off using sony 200-600 on an apsc body. Sensor technology hasn't changed much so I don't get your point. Sony apsc also has superior noise performance than Fuji at the same exposure, go look at Gerald Undone's comparison between xt30 and a6400. And reportedly the stacked sensor in the xh2s is somehow even muddier.

theres something i dont really like on the fujis. The entire point for me to look at a sony a6xxx is because i want something small, however fujis designs are almost too large again, dials on top (wich i like tho) add size to its height and all that and a cm here and there and then youre almost at a dslr body size again... i much more prefer something i can put in my pocket like the sony.
Also, to me the entire selling point of fujis in camera editing and simulation and shooting jpg... i m not buying it. i dont like stuff i dont have control over either. i will send my files to lightroom and photoshop ANYWAYS..so the ability to have ''kind of instagram filter jpgs'' is entirely pointless to me and not a selling point at all.
also availability? maybe? i dont know. fujifilm is kind of like.. leica or apple... ''fancy hipster gear everyone wants because it looks cool'' That in return drives pricing. There are less fujis around and if lets say its a year of fuji hype because someone on youtube for example, its really hard to get used gear for a good price because there is less available for higher prices. i mean look at those x100v s for example, they sell almost more than msrp on the used marked around here. And stuff like that makes it very hard to rely on the used market. i cant be like: ''next year i want to buy this lens'' because maybe next year they are way more expensive or none available. while on the other hand on sony, there are so many sonys around, you can ALLWAYS go to the used market and find some good deal without looking around for long for a relatively stable price or they even go down in price. its just a way more thriving market.
the third point might be... false. i dont know. its just a weird feeling i have about used fujis.

@@MaybeTiberius Fuji's are pretty compact. They have so many lines, X-E, X-T, X-Pro. Just find one that fits your needs. The X-T5 is amazingly compact, smaller and lighter than the X-T4. If you don't like the EVF hump, then you're not gonna like the camera industry. Because you either buy the a6600, a7c, or a Leica. There's literally nothing in between. Not sure if you would be willing to pay 20x the cost just for "compactness".
You're wrong about film simulations. You have full control over it. There are recipes you can play with, and parameters to adjust. Idk about you but personally I always shoot RAW + Jpegs whether it's for work or casual. The Fuji jpegs are great for immediate social media uploads. My camera is set to always transfer via bluetooth to my smartphone when turned off. And I still have the RAW files to edit for prints and photobooks. Also filters and profiles are entirely different things. Go lookup Samuel Streetlife where he mentions what's wrong with presets/filters ruclips.net/video/xx9i-BDozAc/видео.html
Profiles remap colour data to a different colour and they obey certain relationship rules. Filters/presets merely transform the data without regard for the relationship to each other. This is important if you know colour theory. E.g. a typical overused teal/orange or muted greens+boosted brown preset will not account for the other colours in the gamut. Each preset/filter cannot be used on every photo, but every photo can use any film simulation profiles without looking weird. There's also the advantage if you're shooting casually. Imagine editing thousands of photos after a trip. How are you going to keep the look consistent? Because a preset won't do it. It gets time consuming and isn't worth the time imo as I'm not being paid for it.
Fujifilm has most of their models available. The X100V is only 1 product. Everything else sells for normal prices on the used market, about 60-80% msrp depending on condition. BHPhoto always has good deals on used items. I bought most of my Fuji kit used. X-T4, 35mm f/2, 18mm f/1.4 (legendary lens). Only my Tamron 17-70 is bought brand new. Just be careful where you buy them. Another source I buy from is Japanese ebay sellers. Japanese people take care of their gear and are far more trustworthy.
As for manual lenses, you'll not likely find any other camera better. Fujifilm even has digital split prism and microprism manual focusing aids from the film SLR/rangefinder days, which is unique in the entire camera industry. www.jmpeltier.com/fujifilm-manual-focus-assist-modes/
Combined with far more advanced EVFs than anything in Sony's at the same price, you'll enjoy vintage lenses more on Fujifilm bodies. Not a SINGLE Sony body uses 3.67mil dot EVF or higher for under $2,500. I've used Olympus OM lenses and Helios 44M with great success.

Rule number 1: Photography, fundamentally an art form, transcends the mere references to your RUclips channel and income. They do not inherently signify a profound comprehension of the artistic elements and principles that underlie this discipline.
In my view, an individual lacking a fundamental understanding of art may not be adequately positioned to make meaningful comparisons among cameras from renowned manufacturers.
      Enjoy your channel.
