Nice. I remember watching Joel Speck's videos when I first started getting into fire alarms on the first day of searching up fire alarms going off on RUclips in July of 2014. Glad to see that nothing has changed to this system since Joel Speck last filmed it 10 years ago. This video is basically "Fire alarm test in academic building part 2, 10 years later"
exactly!
Yeah, pretty much. It's kinda cool to think about it
Although there are a couple of pitch changes with 7002s aging 10 years
Glad to see that this system is still here and still works! I remember watching a different video of this Spectronics system that was uploaded many years ago in 2012 by Joel speck.
Yep!
I remember seeing Joels Video! Im glad the system isnt replaced and all 7002's sound the same.
yes!
@@kansasfirealarms5101 i like the sound of the really fast one since it flashes fast
Actually, it sounds like one has been adjusted, even when the strobe flashes were fine, but it was making more of a clacking sound in the old video. Looks like that one sounds like the other one on the lower floor. I wouldn't be surprised if the nut got adjusted.
Ahhh the nostalgia hits me ! One iconic fire alarm vid for yt Glad to see it still holding up!
yes!! everything worked perfectly too!
@@kansasfirealarms5101 one thing that is a problem is that the strobes aren’t up to code. They have to be a certain brightness which I forgor 💀 but it is definitely higher than 0.4CD that the 7002’s strobe puts out. I think the minimum requirement is 15CD
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL those alarms are grandfathered.
Nice. That video was very nostalgia plus iconic from his page brings back memories still
Yes!
Another building and system we recognize on YT. Great video!
yes!!!
I didn't think that was going to happen!
0:55 That fire alarm got faster 😲😲😲
This brings back so many memories!
Really does
This is definitely the same building and system that Joel Speck did a video in
it is!
Most likely are 7002s but you wouldn’t know unless you take one down
most likely
I vaguely remember this building too. My campus tour was kind of a short, after-hours tour through the friend of a friend so it was their campus center/cafeteria (spectralerts in there I think), this building, and a dorm.
thats cool!
Very nice! Cool to see you test a system where another well known inspector also tested!
yes!!
yep same video good to see there still standing
definitely!
Those are actually the older 7002's which are very different from the 7002T.
they sound about the same to me but i’ll agree
It could be either. The only difference between the two is that the "T" models have screw terminals. They were introduced at the same time, both with an open grille.
The pigtail 7002 was discontinued shortly after the grille style changed. The reason behind this is that having only two pigtails coming off the unit means that it is not properly supervised.
If a horn wire slips out, there could still be continuity on the NAC, meaning no trouble condition. What Federal Signal did was add two more pigtails to their Vibratone series.
Wheelock probably realized that it's much easier to offer only the terminal version, rather than give people the option to cram more pigtails and wire nuts into a 4" junction box.
Nice
Thanks!!
@@kansasfirealarms5101 you’re welcome
I’m surprised they haven’t updated that yet. Is it still just local or did they finally add dialers?
They got dialers for each building
@@kansasfirealarms5101 I wondered about those older systems. I don’t know how long ago it changed, but there historically was a 4100 in the Campus Safety office where all the systems in the dorms, gym, library, and performing arts building connected to. When the system received an alarm signal from the buildings, as well as trouble signals for that matter, they dialed central monitoring over a POTS line divided up by partition. When I was there, the admin building, science building, religion building, and education building were just local.. The current Campus Safety Director told me that they had put cellular dialers in each.
Did they ever put an actual system in the religion building? Smith. It used to have a hardwired system with no panel.
Nice video.
Thanks!!
@@kansasfirealarms5101 You're welcome!
Usually 7002 have problems with the strobe after years. They usually change rate or die out. My 7002t has problems charging up
Oh yeah?
The strobe of the dead one I mentioned, was OK.
It's the electrolytic capacitors- they dry out after a while and stop holding a charge. These were made in the late 70s/early 80s so they're probably due for new capacitors.
Do you know what building it’s called and the address? I’m wondering for the address as well for the 4903 system joel speck did in the dorm
You can just find the buildings on google maps over the Campus. They are shaped like La and have the same system basically
I don’t know what campus it is tho
MidWest Nazerine University, Olathe, KS
Thx!!!
@@kansasfirealarms5101 Seems much like New Hampshire, where they tend to keep the old ones! Same with Springfield, Vermont, but I dunno now, because it looks like a bunch possibly were suddenly taken out in Springfield now! I know that in 2016, they had a bunch of 7002Ts! Lebanon, NH, was known not long ago for still having grandfathered ones in restaurants.
Those are actually 7002s as they have the open horn grill. Also I remember thIs system from Joel’s video
yes they are!
@@kansasfirealarms5101 no the t actually means terminal it has nothing to do with the grill
@@kansasfirealarms5101 no they are not they are 7002s
@@luthorblosscommanderandleader The Springfield Town Hall had the predecessors of the 7002Ts, the 7002s, (pre-"T") which were taken out in 2012 or 2013. There's an entirely new system with what looks like Exceder HSRs. Yes, that system did have problems, there was a dead 7002 horn in the lower-front area of the building and there were random false FD calls, which was an FACP fault or a problem with the old Gamewell box.
@@luthorblosscommanderandleader they actually are. They’re literally older versions of the 7002T. 7002Ts never came with an open grill. All 7002s have an open grill and no terminals. Stop spreading misinformation. You’re talking to someone who has read pretty much every single Wheelock manual on older alarms
I’m thankful these alarms are still in service! Do you know if there’s any plans to replace them?
i don’t think there is! if stuff wasn’t working then we would
Awesome! Also do you know of any 2001 panels that are still working? They’re getting to be a rarity!
@@jedwilson95 i know one
Love that system, is it still there?
to my knowledge, yes. this was filmed in July 2022
@@kansasfirealarms5101 That makes me wonder if the 7002Ts and FCi FC-72 FACP are still at the Springfield Community Center. I know that in another building that had older equipment, has been gutted and had a SpectrAlert Advance installed on the outside, a common practice in my region.
Any enthusiast should know those are just 7002s
yes and yes
You don't know that
@Marc Leslie well they are pretty known alarms
this is also true. i think the enthusiast side was what i was going for lol
They might be 7002T's. I have two that look like this.
The panel is still a Spectronics panel?
it is
I predict that the next test that will have the same alarms seen on Joel Specks channel which are the Simplex Truealert speaker strobes in the fine arts building
ruclips.net/video/XNZCNUzFjF0/видео.html
But yes it seems like you live in the same area where Joel Speck lives as this is sure a coincidence
it will not be as i wasn’t there for that inspection.. you’ll see some new stuff from it also!
ruclips.net/video/CTPIP-PXQh4/видео.html Original Video
yep
@@kansasfirealarms5101 Wheelock seems very reliable. Seems the sound would hardly even change.
